Banded March 18th!!!
Way to go on the 3 lb weight loss. I say if you're feeling hungry go in for the fill earlier. My doc is pretty easy going and I can call in the day that I want a fill.

Time to Get Back On Track
Hey Bernadette! I've been trying to exercise but I had hand surgery last thursday and I've had to take it easy. I think I maybe feeling a little restriction but I'll see how this weekend goes and then decide if I need another top up. My doc is very much like yours and wants me to get to my sweet spot so I can really start losing weight. I've already bought several goal dresses to wear for the summer. It helps me keep my eyes on the prize!! You should see how fantastic my boobies look in a dress I bought from Victorias Secret....I just need the rest of the body to get the right proportions and I'll be a force to be reckoned with lol!!

Banded March 18th!!!
Isn't it weird that they don't tell us about Fluid being in the band. I was surprised when I went for my first fill and found out I had 2cc's already. I don't know how aggressive your doc is but mine tells me to come back in a week after a fill if I'm still hungry. The liquid days are the worse after a fill so I feel your pain.

Banded March 18th!!!
Karen, I'm glad you're finally on the mend. I had hand surgery last thursday and I haven't been able to do much since. I've lost weight so I'm ok with not doing anything. Since my last post here I have had several fills. I had 2cc's put in during the surgery...I wasn't aware of this. First fill they added 2 cc's more. Then I went and got 1cc followed by two more fills of .5cc's. I'm up to 6cc's now and I'm thinking I might finally be getting some restriction. I"m glad they don't have to remove your port and hopefully May 26th will hurry up so you can get your fill.

Time to Get Back On Track
My doc is agressive to a point. He doesn't want me going hungry and as long as there has been enough time between fills he'll top me up. Right now I have 10cc band. It's not about being impatient. It's being so hungry that I start foraging for food and then I make bad choices. It seems that my doc knows what he's doing and hopefully I'll get some restriction soon.

Time to Get Back On Track
Hey everyone, I feel like I'm slipping and I need some motivation to get back on track. I had my band surgery on 3/18. I've had 4 fills since surgery and I am still hungry!! I've been fighting with eating the right foods and portions but the hunger has been getting to me and I've cheated a few times. Right now I have 6cc's in my band and I have zero restriction. My doctors philosophy is waiting a week between fills and if I'm still hungry he'll put in another .5 cc's. I'm worried that I'm going to get up to 10cc's without any restriction. I'm trying to hold myself accountable by writing in my food journal but I'm getting discouraged. I haven't been exercising as much as I need to. Can someone please give me a swift kick in the pants??

Gas pain- help!
You guys are wasting money on gas x. The the gas you're experiencing is from the gas that was pumped into your body cavity during surgery. You need to walk and get that gas moving out of your body cavity. Use a heating pad if necessary, drink some warm caffeine free tea or have someone use a massager on your back and shoulder. I promise if you keep moving the gas well find it's way out. I wish people would stop perpetuating the myth of gas x being the best way to rid your body cavity of gas.

Single,31,no kids, lookin for bandster friends
Hey Poma, My doc told me to come back in a week or two if I still felt hungry all the time. I'm gonna wait until mid next week and if I'm still hungry I'll go in for another fill. I say wait it out a bit and see how you feel. If you're still hungry then go for the fill.

UHC Choice Plus PPO
Gerber, It is possible that you will get approved. Tell the lady in your Doctors office to submit the paperwork and see what happens. I had a BMI of 38 and had Sleep Apnea and hypertension. I was approved in 5 days. I should also add that the coordinator at my doctors office was very reluctant to submit my paperwork and I told her to humor me and submit it.

Call care coordination. They should have given your doctor an approval number. It usually takes them about 14 days to send out the actual letter after you receive approval.

I'm doing really well. I had my first fill today. So now it's back to liquids. The fill was so quick and easy. I have 4cc's in my 10cc band.

Single,31,no kids, lookin for bandster friends
Greyhoundgirl. I had my first fill today and it was pretty quick and easy. Apparently my doc had put 2 cc's when I had my surgery. The whole thing was done in literally a few minutes. My doctor had me hunch over and he found my port. I felt a small prick and he pulled out the Fluid that was in and then added 2 more cc's to bring me to a total of 4 cc's. It was cool seeing it done and the fluid in my band was blue!!! It really wasn't bad at all and I was surprised at how quick and easy it was.

UHC Choice Plus PPO
I guess it depends on the plan you have. I have choice plus and the only out of pocket expenses I had were my doctor's program fee: $600, cost of the nutritionist: 2 visits x $105, Prescription meds: $50. I had a deductible of $255 that I had already satisfied. I've never heard of having to pay 50%...again check your plan.

How is everyone doing???
Hey everyone! I was banded and 3/18 and I'm doing great. The first two weeks were pure hell on the liquid diet but now that I'm eating mushies/soft foods and the hunger isn't so bad. I've lost 20 lbs since being banded and I have pretty decent restriction and I'm having my first fill on 4/13.

WOW...It's so nice to hear everyone's responses. I guess I'm not alone after all. Crystal thanks for sharing that email and yes, I totally understand where your friend is coming from. I remember that uncomfortable overstuffed feeling. I don't miss it but it's weird not having that feeling. Right now I'm trying to re-work my relationship with food. I'm looking for healthier alternatives to the indulgent foods I use to eat. It's not easy but I'm sure I will triumph in the end.

Calling All MARCH '09 Bandsters - We need a name!
Pezo: I have the same butt crack at my port site. It's weird and hope it evens out. As for my progress I'm now on soft solids and it's been interesting. The first time I had something semi solid I wasn't paying attention and bite of too big a piece. I knew I was in trouble the instant I swallowed. I panicked and took a sip of Water to get things moving but that didn't work. The water came right back up and the piece of meat followed there after. That happened on sunday and my band feels tight and irritated still. I've been more cognizant when I'm eating and have had no issues since. I have my first fill on 4/13 and I'm a bit nervous because I have pretty good restriction since I've started on solids. I'm worried how I'll feel once I'm a bit tighter. Also, why do you guys keep using this thread? There's a MArch 2009 sub group in the support forum.

Food Obsession
Tell me about it!!! I didn't realize how much of social life revolved around food. Whether it was me cooking a huge dinner or going out with my friends...it was always centered around food. It's quite a difficult adjustment but I have my eyes on the prize and I'm not about to mess up this second chance.
