please help it hurts to eat anything
I can't eat thick breads and I especially cant eat any bread without toasting it. Its pita bread for me. Pizza with a thick base is totally out! Sometimes I can manage one with a thin flaky base.

Life After Weightloss-Bootcamp!
There are so many emotional scars left over in a person once they have lost weight...Although they are no longer the fat person they were they are still the same person and still FEEL like the fat person... Many years ago (in my teen years) I was a little overweight and actively lost about 40lb...I was walking heaps and feeling fantastic. But all went topsy turvy when a friend of the family (an older boy) started taking an interest and mentioned to my brother that I was looking really great! and beautiful. You know I was scared and felt so vulnerable I had hidden behind my weight for so long that I felt naked...everyone was seeing me...I couldn't hide anymore. I stopped walking started eating and became bigger than ever and have NEVER been back to that weight ever since... There must be others with post weightloss emotional scars, and insecurities and I thought this thread could be a chance for us to discuss so that somehow we can all gain healing from the negative leftovers/baggage of the person that we were in order to live fulfilled lives as the person we are NOW.

Weight based discrimination
I know...I was headhunted for a leading role in a musical broadway production in Australia. Anyway you know why I didn't get it? I couldn't fit into a size 12 it was for a musical about the Supremes. I missed my chance at stardom all because of my weight...darn it!

The Lighter Side of Large
Like many others before me, I’ve been watching my weight since I was 9 years old. In fairness, at the beginning, I wasn’t that much heavier than other girls my age, but the dreaded comparison of my ‘big boned’ and heavily endowed body structure to those of my thin, beautifully developing peers contributed to a progressively poor self-image. Swimsuits and pool parties, sports recreation and being forced to wear ‘larger-sized’ clothing that was ‘out of date’ did nothing to help build my sense of self worth. So I continued to live out my life as the ‘fat girl’ - the vivacious personality that everyone wants to be mates with but no-one wants to date! Dieting has been a never-ending struggle, often causing me to blatantly lie about food choices and cheat by overeating. My weight steadily rose from 162lb when I was 16 to 330lb at my largest. However, with the assistance of lap band surgery, I have lost 84lb over the past 12 months. So here at 27 years old I have finally come to the realization ‘Hey! I’m overweight! And…shock horror… I am ok with that! Sure… I don’t want to stay this way and I am committed to doing everything in my power not to, but for now, this IS me but I revel in the expectation that soon it will all be in the past tense. So i thought I would begin a Lighter Side of Large thread with a few of my own private collection of anecdotes based on my own personal experience of being overweight. I began writing these anecdotes to inspire myself, an affirmation, if you like, of what is ahead of me; what to look forward to, but also as a reminder of where I have come from. So I am going to share a few of my favorites from a book that i have written and want to get published. Very soon the frustrating and somewhat embarrassing moments captured here will no longer be a concern for me. However, for now I am on this journey rediscovering WHO I am, whilst shedding the extra burden that I have labored under for the past 18 years. I am hoping that this thread can serve as a checklist or yard stick aside from scales/measurements with which we can determine just how far we have come and what milestones we have yet to achieve. Similarly, I hope that, in a light-hearted way, it will inspire the many others like me that we are not alone and the best is yet to come. I am not listing this here to make fun of us...and I hope no-one will take offense at any of the situations or pictures that may be showcased...These are caricatures of myself in real life situations that i have found myself in. This thread is for all those overweight people out there that know they are and can laugh about it and for all who look forward to being on the lighter side of large… as I do ________________________________________________________________ So I'll start us off... I look forward to...Getting unobtrusively in and out of my seat at a restaurant without tipping the table and all its contents into my unsuspecting eating companion’s lap I look forward to... Having a bath without causing a dam. I look forward to... Finding a belt that fits around more than just one thigh. I look forward to... Fitting down a water-slide without causing a traffic jam I look forward to... Walking with friends without accidentally knocking them into oncoming traffic. I look forward to... Slipping out of a seat without taking it with me I look forward to... Falling head over heals without it being because I’m trying to paint my toes I look forward to... Sitting in a plastic picnic chair without fear of it giving way I look forward to... Finding scales that actually go up to my weight I look forward to... Crossing more than just my ankles when seated I look forward to... Getting into a car without sending it into a violent quake.

Is Walking Enough?
I walk for an hour about 4 times a week...and have been loosing on average about 3.3 lb a week. However, over winter I stopped walking (due to weather...and i admit procrastination!) and guess what? .... I stopped loosing weight...for six months I stayed stagnant...now I have started walking again low and behold the weight is comming off as before.

Steak
Gosh what I would do for a good chewy steak!!!! I cant eat read meats anymore..stuck with fish and chicken. I can have mince in sloppy bolognaise and stuff but mostly red meats are out for me...I really miss it. And am green with envy when I go to a restaurant and my companion orders a med-well juicy steak or chops. Does anyone else miss red meat? :hungry:

Poll - Are You Attracted To Overweight People?
yea...I am overweight but my x hubby wasn't... I preferred it that way...Now that I am on the hunt again i don't really go for overweight men...you see I want someone that cares about their health and lives an active life and who can encourage me to do so too...there is no way I want to go back to being as I was... and most overweight men dont tend to portray that image. If i got with someone that didn't really give a d'mn about their body my fear is that I would revert to old habits...just my thoughts.

The downside of being banded.
i hear you...I have lost 84lb since having my lapband and i am still wearing clothes I wore when I was at my largest 334lb. Needless to say they are hanging off me like a sack. but I just cant justifye purchasing new ones just yet. There must be thousands of us in the same boat...Still, I am trying to remedy the issue Inspired by similar threads on lapband talk I am trying to put together a clothes swap site for people like us. Its not ready yet but should be up by the new year. keep an eye out for it Hopefully it will solve All our problems

I will post again when it has launched but if anyone wants to know more about it you can always private message me. and i will let you know as soon as we have launched.

What about a clothes swap???
At the risk of sounding too spammy...I came on the idea as I read these forums and realised there is a need for a service that caters for dieters. For millions of us on the Quest to lose weight, the problem of finding clothing to wear during the transitionary downsize phase is a real one. For instance, i was a size 28 but I am currently a size 22 However, I aim to be a size 14, the in-between sizes are sizes I won’t be in for too long. and many of us (me included) do not want to pay full retail price for clothing we will only wear for a month or two. Sizexchange will basically be a clothes swap but based on a points auction which will allow for swapping across sizes (ie not a size 22 for another size 22). It is all in development still there is some very complicated software customisations that need to be done as it will not be a traditional auction like ebay etc. But we should be up and running in the next 6 weeks or so. In the meantime if anyone wants any further information or wants me to notify them personally when the site is launched you can always private message me!

What about a clothes swap???
Just a heads up! In the next 6 or so weeks there is going to be a site called sizexchange.com going live. SizeXchange is an online exchange web site, where subscribed members can use Xchange Points they have been allocated, earned or purchased to bid on exchange items – clothing. Once a subscriber loses weight, they can auction their larger sized clothing on the website for Xchange Points, and use the points to purchase smaller sizes that they will only wear for a short time, as they continue to lose weight. There will be a minimal monthly fee to use the site as a venue but once you are a member you can effectively exchange your no longer needed clothes for clothes in the size you need for free and you just pay the postage. It has not launched yet but keep an eye out for it. I will also advise in this forum when it has launched. the url is http://www.sizexchange.com

Flabuless me 6months post op
thanks. I only just published this initial version of the website a week ago. It is still under development though. I am starting my own icommunity/ezine called The Lighter Me this should be up by the end of the week. If you like it now you'll love it in a weeks time when the new site is up. I am also working on a size exchange site for people like us that are dropping dress sizes so fast it seems silly to buy new clothes.
