  1. Thanks luluc.....how do you start a thread? I am so bad at navigating.
  2. Wow.....! I am happy for you. How is the recovery going? Just the fact that you are on here makes me hopeful that I will be out and about post-op. Congrats~!~!. keep me posted on how you are feeling and dealing with the liquids at this point. Feel great!~!~
  3. I love the way people interpert things.... Dan do you seriously think I am telling anybody anything? I am not that important, and don't have that kind of power. Just making a statement about how unloving this post is. I certainly didn't come here for this type of chat. Was looking for some support and pre-op experience to help me on my journey. I will have to keep looking for some positive stuff to keep me focused on my path.
  4. Does this kind of hurtful banter go on here all the time? Isn't this a forum where people.... all people can share their feelings, experiences, ideas and such? Shouldn't we not be judging eachother? We all have our beliefs. If we all felt the same about everything we would be a boring bunch. Ultimately we are all brothers and sisters. How about we treat eachother with some respect. Agree to disagree?
  5. :thumbup:Thanks Fran....the only problem is that I didn't get to see Geiss's nutritionist because I couldn't afford it. So I'm not quite sure about what I can have. My friend turned me on to a shake from GNC too, not sure of the name. Yes, I am being good even now with 11 days to go. I have a daughter I have to feed. Told her she will have to heat up her own stuff. I made lots of stuff and froze it, so I hope that will work out. Again thanks for the shout.
  6. :smile:Thanks, that helps. I am really new here, my surgery date is 2/23/09 only 11 days away. From a lot of what I have read so far I don't think I will be in any rush to start eating real food post-op. thanks for the lesson:)
  7. :confused:Amanda, I didn't me duhh to you....duhh me....doesn't that make you more hungry?
  8. Duhhhh, gum chew gum. I always chew gum, but it makes me hungry.
  9. Hi Ladies.....I have a date with Dr. Geiss on 2/23/09 to be banded. I am feeling very encouraged by the good words I am reading. I am not nervous about the actual surgery but am afraid of the week prior which will start on 2/16/09 with the pre-op diet. I like to chew, and from what I am hearing there is only liquid. I don't want to have any problems. Any words on how you didn't eat the week b4? thanks Maria
  10. Don't get discouraged. My first appt with lap band group was back in may08. surgery date 2/23/09. it is a process, eveything happens for a reason. I too have sleep apnea, i have been sleeping with c-pap machine for about a year now. it was a blessing. i feel so much better when i wake up. go on vacation, enjoy and you will have something to look forward to when you get back. Good luck
  11. When I asked my primary about having the lap band she was against it...she has heard stories about people not doing well. I have to go to her for medical clearance, which are blood test and such. I don't think it is a matter of her approval, it is a medical thing. Don't project...I think it will all work out. Good luck
  12. I feel compelled to respond to this. My first appt with dr.'s for the lap band was may 08. They told me it was about a 3 month journey till I get a date. I couldn't wait for this to happen, thinking who will like me better because I am thinner and so on. I felt like I was jumping through hoops and getting no where. I am gr8ful that my date is 2/23/09 because it gave me time to get my head in the right place. I saw a friend loose about 80lbs on another plan and when I realized he was the same person, I didn't look at him differently, is when I knew that I had to do this for myself and not give a sh*t about what anyone else thinks or says. And I will say I believe that I am truely ready. I plan GOD laughs.....happy banding
  13. thanks. that was a good suggestion.
  14. How was the liquid diet? what did you eat?
  15. Hey everyone, I am pre-op date is 2/23/09 and was wondering if anyone has any advice about the week b4 liquid diet? My dr. had his own nutritionist that cost a fortune, so I choose to go to someone in my medical plan. Had appt. in office where the nutritionist came for a bit to speak to us, and I heard some things I didn't know. Any help will be great. thanks. Gr8fulMaria
