  1. Hi everyone. I got banded in Feb 09 have always had issues of food getting stuck so I'd cough it up, didn't make it down past the band so I don't considering it vomiting. Do any of you have the same issue? Even water gets stuck if I drink too fast or eat solid food too early in the morning. I start with water then diet gatorade then a diet shake. I can start to eat potatoes & eggs or soup or soft foods then by dinner can finally have a small piece of toasted bread & small chicken breast or another type of meat or fish. My band seems to be really tight when I first wake up even after a nap, seems weird but true. Until last night no real problems, but now nausea, pain in stomach & heartburn. I'm afraid something is wrong, I will hopefully be able to find out tues when I see the lapband dr. I have no insurane & was a cash patient back in 2009 but now unemployed & cannot afford expensive tests or Anyone have any of same issues? I actually started having acid reflux lil bit ago but seemed mild so I didn't go to the doctor. Before the lapband surgery in 2009 I had horrible acid reflux which seemed to go away after the surgery but suddenly it's returning. Any advice apprectiated, Thanks Kim
  2. I agree about Dr. Salimitari. He did my surgery back in February, and he's great. He truly cares & is the sweetest man ever.
  3. I used to drink at least two cans of diet coke the first few months after surgery because I wasn't told not until 3 months or so after surgery. I hope I didn't cause any damage or slippage. I've only lost 25 lbs in like 8 months. Now band is tight but everything I eat gets stuck, and I have to cough it up & try something else.
  4. Rice Chex, I too had injuries causing me to have 3 surgeries that also caused me to not be able to exercise & gained 50 lbs. I needed to lose about 40-50 lbs. I started at 207lbs. They put a large 14cc band though which seems weird to me if you got a small one. It sounds like you started around the same weight as me? I wonder if I got too large of a band then because I haven't lost as much as I probably should have. Thanks, Kim
  5. I'm a night owl & wait for time alone at night to watch shows I record during the day so munchies begin plus I usually have a glass of wine. If I eat a salad & go to bed earlier I lose weight but who knowsw, everyone is different. I had surgery in february & have only lost 25 lbs. Someone mentioned drinking soda, my doctor said no carbonated drinks, does anyone know if it can cause trouble? I really miss diet coke w/splenda. Thanks, Kim
  6. Hi everyone, to the person who asked about meds, they gave prescriptions after & yes I had to pay. I didn't take the liquid vicodin they prescribed me I didn't like it, so i went to Walmart & got Liquid Tylenol which was much better. Also the antibiotics they give you need to smash up & put in liquid, no one told me that & capsules were getting stuck a little. As far as the liquid diet, I had clear liquids for 5 days then moves to chocolate soy protein shakes from walmart and shortly after had mushies like refried beans I added a little water & put in little food processor and made thinner also boiled brocoli & creamy soups. I had surgery in Feb and am down 20 lbs now & feel alot better. Good luck.
  7. Hi, Ive lost about 20 lbs since banded. Doing better after new DR filled band more once they figured out i have a large 14 cc band. After I posted that i didnt know what band i had they called from bev hills with info immedately after so they read these posts!
  8. Good Luck with your banding. I was banded by Dr. S & I like him alot but for some reason neither him or anyone anywhere seems to know what size band I have, so I advise you tell him before surgery to make sure he writes it down. Iv'e been asking for 4 months with no answer. When thye switched doctors on me the new doctor asked what size band I have & I had no idea, he even called Beverly Hills where I got surgery & couldn't get an answer. It's nice to keep track of how many cc's you have in your band with each fill, I have almost 10 cc in my band & I finally have restriction so I assume I have a 14cc band even though Dr. S said he thought he out a 10cc band. I paid cash & still can't even find out my band size for sure, weird. Other than that I've had a good experience.
  9. Hello, I was banded by Dr. Salimitari on 2-13-09 in the Beverly Hills surgery center. No complications, everything went smoothly. It's not a hospital but it feels like one, & they were very professional & I woke up in the recovery room feeling pretty good & ready to go home.
  10. I hope i dont have slippage, I got banded feb 13th & cant lose weight I never feel full & I have 7cc in my band. I vomited 7 times the night I got surgery I hope that didnt cause damage. My doctor had me on liquid diet for 5 days then mushies I hope it wasnt too soon. Im scared cuz no weight loss since Feb.
  11. I'm wondering if I have a band slip. I got banded Feb 13th, I lost 12 lbs on the liquid phase then only a pound or two since. I have a total of 7cc in my band which was 5 fills & never feel restriction. What's up? I feel totally let down
  12. No I didn't get an endoscopy, what is that? I haven't had any trouble & was banded feb 13th. I like Dr Salimitari alot.
  13. Hello, that's good you have restriction from your fill. I don't know why different people experience different feeling of fullness with same amout of cc's in a band. Iv'e had three adjustments since my surgery in Feb & I have never felt restriction. I haven't lost any weight since the original 13lbs the first week. Now the doctor wants me to attend a support group at their office & see the psychologist there alos, so maybe it's other things interferring with my weight loss. I'll try his suggestions & see what happens.
  14. Hello, I too was banded by him on Feb 13th & no complications either. He is such a sweet caring doctor. Iv'e lost 14 lbs which isn't as good as I could have so on tues when I got another fill he asked me to keep a food journal & stop drinking alcohol so frequently & wants to see me again in two weeks, also he suggested calling the Beverly Hills office to make appt for the support group. I told him I have issues in my personal life so i think he wants me to deal with things that may be interferring with my weight loss. I recommend him to anyone looking for a great lap band surgeon he actually cares about his patients unlike some places that just want your money.
  15. Hi back, No I see him in his Palmdale office because it's closer to home. I did get the surgery in Beverly Hills though. I got a fill on tuesday, so far so good. :scared2:
