  1. Congratulations. I am being banded on the 20th, just a day later. I wish you the very best. Remember it's going to be a whole new life after you are banded. I hear it is a lot of hard work but SO well worth it. I can't wait.
  2. I'm about a week and 1/2 away from my band surgery and am getting very excited (and nervous too). I want to grocery shop this weekend for liquids/soft foods there I can have for the 1st few weeks post surgery and was wondering if baby food would be okay to eat?

  4. My surgery is scheduled for the 20th. So I'll be a few days behind you. What kind of "preop" are you doing? My doctor doesn't have me doing anything special except the week before surgery I was told I shouldn't have any greasy/fried and that I should eat light that week. I always find it amazing that every doctor does things a little differently. How much weight do you have to lose?
  5. I am SO ready to begin this part of my life. I am ready to be fully dedicated and to take this journey one day (and one meal) at a time. I wish everyone out there who just had it done or is getting ready to like me all the success in the world. We all deserve it. I am so tired of people looking at me different. I know I will never be the 110-115lb person I was thru my 20's but I'd love to get back to around 145lb. I would be thrilled. I am currently weighing 225lb and at only 5'1" that is WAY too much!!!! :bananalama: Anyway, I'm glad a banded friend of mine told me about this website. I think it will be an awesome tool to help me along. I hope I can help others too.
  6. Well since my insurance company doesnt cover any form of weight loss I am left on my own to pay for it. The cost is $12,900 and I am going to finance most of it. I feel like my life and my body is more than worth the price. I live in Houston and my surgeon is going to be Dr. Spivak. I've heard a lot of good things about him and he made me feel very comfortable at the seminar and private consultation. My surgery is set for Friday, 2-20. I am getting more and more anxious as the day draws closer. A friend of mine was banded over 2 years ago and went to Mexico to have it done. It would be cheaper to go there but I am too chicken. I have been trying to mentally prepare for this but I hate the unknown. I am only 5'1" so every pound I have put on and plan to take off once and for all is really noticed. 225 / 135

Well, I've made the decision to be banded. My surgery date is set for February 20th. I am very excited and nervous all at the same time. I've been very overweight for most of the past 10 years and I am ready to once and for all do something about it.
