    Hell...Hell is for....lapband!

I just realized that I have the whey protein powder in the cabinet too, so I'll just add protein to my shakes! Duh!!!!

    It's been 2 wks

Congratulations!!! I'm in Bandster hell right now, so glad you are not! I'm sure I'm going to come out of it, I'm thinking it may be because 4 days ago I switched from my EAS shakes which are 17 grams of protein to Slimfast (just for a change) and they have 10 grams of protein. My fault, I should have looked at the label more before buying them! I'm soooo hungry!

    Three Month Bandaversary and Ashley!!!

Oh, quick question for you...you lost shoe sizes? My friends and I were just laughing at my feet because they are a size 6 but I have to wear a 7.5 because they are wide, will I lose weight in my feet? Their feet are all like 9 & 10 and so compared to mine, it's really funny side by side. They were wondering how my feet even hold my body up! LOL!

    I felt like I cheated

Last night my husband and I went out to dinner with friends and I'm only 9 days post-op. I'm allowed to have soft foods, so I checked the menu before we left the house. Luckily, my husband got caught up at work so we didn't get to dinner until after they had appetizers. I had grilled salmon over a caesar salad (which wasn't a salad at all but some romaine leaves (not chopped) with a little dressing drizzled over). It actually was perfect because the salmon was huge. I also had a glass of red wine. So I just cut some lettuce (I can't tell you how much I chewed and chewed!) and ate 1/2 of my salmon. I don't have restriction yet, but I definitely felt like I was full. I played with my food a lot, so I don't think with all the talking, that anyone noticed I barely ate the lettuce and only ate 1/2 my salmon. My husband finished it for me. I felt like I cheated with the wine, but I drank that one glass while everyone else had 3-4 drinks, so I decided to let it go. I was reminded today on another post that the weight didn't come on overnight, and it's not going to leave overnight...one glass of wine isn't going to break me!

    Closet Shopping

Sooo funny, I did the same thing today! I packed up all of the clothes that I wanted to donate, those that I wanted to give to friends and I kept the pricier ones "just in case". Because I don't want to have to go buy a new wardrobe if this doesn't work...and I'm right at the weight that my diets stop working and I start sabbotaging myself. I think it makes sense! Today I am wearing a shirt I haven't worn in 4 years and my shorts are almost falling off of me, I can actually take them off without unbuttoning and unzipping...but they are still my favs!

33 lbs down in 3 months

"I have to remind myself, "this weight didn't get put on overnight and it certainly won't just disappear overnight." I think we all have to remind ourselves of that. We all know it's a tool and we need to do the work, but so many of us expect the band to do all of the work. Thanks for reminding me this morning! You just stopped me from feeling guilty and today is a new day!

    post op weight gain

Oh, I feel your pain! I had my surgery last week and came home 5.5lbs more than when I went in. It started coming off this week and I've lost more on top of it. Just keep doing what you are doing, it will come off, and yes...once I was able to go to the bathroom it really helped!
  11. Jen...you were banded on the same day as me and we're down 17lbs! You are doing great! Every doctor's post op seems to be different and it may just be that they are trying to prepare us for the long road, not the quick hike. It's a tool and until you are like at fill #3, you won't have the restriction that it's designed for (or so I have read from other posts). So you slipped, just start over tomorrow, it's another day! I have had mashed potatoes and yogurt with no problem because I have no restriction yet, today I had cream of chicken soup with herbs and it was very good. Perhaps you could contact your doctor and see if you can add a little blended foods into your diet so that you can get something in your stomach other than a shake. Believe me, I hate my shakes still...I'm sooo over them, but it's important that we get the fluids and the Protein in too! Good luck hon and keep your chin up, we'll get through these weeks before we know it!

    Happy Camper

Congratulations on the weight loss! I enjoyed reading your blog and even though I'm only 8 days post op, you gave me a lot to think about with slowing the eating down. I have my first fill on the 30th, and looking forward to getting to fill #3! I bet if you asked, your doctor would let you come in and get weighed if you are in that area. I did this with my pre-op because I wanted to compare my home scale to my doctor's scale, which ended up being 3lbs different!
  13. I was banded last Wednesday and had a hiatal hernia too. It took me at least 4 days to feel good, the other days were okay, but I had a lot of gas pains and I had pain from the surgery. If you had surgery yesterday and Monday, give yourself time to heal and get a lot of rest. I couldn't do much but get my fluids in. Gas X strips help for the gas, and I also used a heating pad on my stomach, it usually took away the pain. I also would put a couple of pillows on my bed and bend over the bed with my head on the pillows and feet on the ground. They usually made me burp and I felt better! I also slept on the couch during that time and proped myself up with pillows. Good luck to all of you! It's 8 days later and I feel almost back to normal, just a little achy still from the incisions, but everything else is gravy! LOL!

    New Recipe Idea

I am banded, but no fill yet. Just soft foods. I peeled and baked and mashed them, so they were very soft and went down easily. Good to know though, I'll watch for this after I have a fill. Mashed sweet potato was on my list of soft foods.

    New Recipe Idea

Today I made a new recipe idea and thought I'd share. 2 plantains baked[/url] 3 Sweet potato, cooked, baked 1 Apple peeled and sliced Cinnamon, ground, 2 tbsp 4 tablespoons butter or butter substitute melted Brown Sugar, .5 cup, packed Bake sweet potatoes for about ½ hour at 400, turn over, then add sliced plantains and apples and cook for another 20 minutes. Once everything is soft, remove from oven. Mash ingredients to desired texture and pour cinnamon, brown sugar butter over and mix. Return to over for another 10 minutes. It’s delicious and high in vitamins A, B-6 and C.

    searching for advice

I drink the same drink as you! But I also use the whey protein by EAS in vanilla and make my own shakes. Yesterday I made a vanilla blueberry shake, it was awesome!

    Little Victories

I can't wait to have no boobies! I have always been more self conscience about them than my weight and if they weren't there, I would look MUCH smaller than I do. When I lost 50 lbs a few years back, my friends were shocked at how small my waist was compared to my large breasts! I hate them...
  19. I've lost about 9lbs since surgery last week, but that includes the 5.5lbs I gained after surgery. I didn't start losing the weight until this week when my body started to recover. Your body is different and may be recovering more slowly, and it's holding on to whatever you give it, it thinks you are starving it. I think Amanda gave me the same advice because I was frustrated too, not seeing a change after you go through surgery is stressful. Adding the extra calories is what made me start losing and now I get between 900-1000 a day, and I walk every day for 30-45 minutes. I have a gym membership, but I'm not ready for that yet!
  20. I haven't, but make sure you are getting enough fluids and calories each day, it's summer and we need more liquids! If it doesn't go away, I would call your doctor and run it by them! Good luck!

    Chew No Swallow~ cheating??

Well said Sandradee! I had the tiniest bite of toast with my scrambled eggs and thought I was cheating...you could barely tell I took a bite but I felt like I was already starting with the bad habits...I know toast will be okay, but not 7 days post op! LOL!

Congratulations!!! Every milestone is a huge accomplishment!
  25. OMG! I'm in Onderland! I haven't seen that number in a while and boy oh boy, what a great feeling! I knew that once my body started to recover from surgery that I would start losing again. I'm so happy today that even my chocolate low carb protein shake is going to taste like a Big Mac, large fries and a diet coke with a straw! I would like to officially apologize for all the mean things that I said to you and about you last week Lap Band, I truly do love you and appreciate what you have brought to my life! You do your job, and I'll do mine! Off for a walk...
