gabybab got a reaction from clsumrall in Food Before and After Photos
That looks good! How do you cook it? Also, I was told I would eat about 1 cup eventually. Does this equal about a cup? Not sure about size. I ate 1/2 cup of pureed chili today and that was all I could handle without becoming sick.

gabybab reacted to skylw6 in 7 1/2 months post surgery. Didn’t think I could do this!
Hello All,
I don’t know if anyone needs this today so I’m posting it in case anyone finds it helpful!
I had Gastric sleeve on 7/26/18 . I weighed 276lbs.
Post surgery the first six weeks I dropped 35lbs really fast.
Things slowed down a little after that because I kept expecting the rate to stay the same. I have hit plateaus and taught myself not to be a slave to the scale. I weigh myself once a week and after a plateau I waited 2 weeks.
I also work out, but started slowly. I was walking on a treadmill at an incline for the first few weeks. Then I got bored and started to alternate between using an app with all types of workouts and mixing it with the couch to 5K app. In October a long time friend talked me into signing up for a 5K (even though I hate running)!
Today I am 7 and a half months post surgery . I am down 90lbs and completed my first 5K! If I can do it... Anyone can!

Crock pot chicken and potatoes That’s a total of 8 oz on the plate. I ate all of it 😮

gabybab reacted to NYJenn in Any regrets with RNY?
I had the bypass 7 months ago. I have lost 110lbs so far. No regrets. I am still baffled about how/why people think the sleeve is the “easier” surgery. Nothing easy about either surgery

gabybab got a reaction from TxStar09 in Questioning the surgery...
I have lost 30 lbs already. The first week was very hard, but I wouldn't take it back. I'm on my way to a healthier life. Btw I'm 53 and wish I did it 20 years ago. Best of luck with your decision!

Thank you both for your kind words. I know I need to do what feels right to me. I hate that I let what other people think/say play a part in my life.

I'm 50 and going through my pre-op workup now. I also feel like most people have this surgery earlier in life but this is when I finally realized that it was the option for me so I'm going to pursue it. Good luck to you. I'm hoping for a date in May. Fingers crossed.

That right there is all the reason you need! Ignore the critics and do what you know to be best for you and your family. In the end that’s all that really matters.
And I’m not saying one way or the other but ask yourself the hard questions. Can you do this on your own? Can you sustain it on your own?
I don’t think people necessarily mean to criticize. In their own minds they might actually mean it as a compliment by saying you don’t need the surgery. I waited until I was 56. I WISH I had done this 10 years ago.
Good luck with your decision and know we all have those second guessing moments wondering if we’re doing the right thing. Or at least I did.

gabybab got a reaction from 2Bsmaller18 in Discouraging
I'm 12 days on and weighed the same the 9-11 day. I've lost a lot quickly and I think your body has to catch up. I'm not eating a whole lot, so it has to come offveventally. Don't be discouraged, you're going to start losing again!

gabybab got a reaction from 2Bsmaller18 in Ache from over eating?
I've heard to softly scramble an egg. Was it maybe overcooked? Also, I wonder if scrambling it with a dash of milk would make it lighter going down?

gabybab reacted to GradyCat in Scars Are Fading Nicely
I've been using Bio-Oil on my surgical incisions ever since they healed at 3 weeks and now at 90-days post-op they're really starting to fade nicely. They're a dull pink and the top one is almost invisible as well as the two smaller lowest ones, with the two in the middle, the largest ones, still the most visible. I believe that they'll be gone within another six months.
How are your incision scars doing? Are you using anything on them? How long did it take for them to fade away completely?

I had RNY in late January and have been able to eat regular food again for about a month. I rarely eat out anymore so I'm always surprised at how large the portions are. This was the Fit Fare veggie skillet from Denny's. 390 cals for the entire meal and kind of carb heavy due to the potatoes but this will last me for a few days. I'll add some grilled chicken during later meals for more Protein.

Hi! Thanks for checking on me! 😀 Still feels hard to swallow. Maybe I just need more time. I’ll call my Dr next week if there’s no improvement.

I was sleeved on April 18, 2018 by Saurabh Khandelwal M.D. at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle WA. Dr Khandelwal is the Director of the Weight Loss Center. He explained what was happening both before and after surgery and easy to understand terms.

I also had a drain. I had to baby it. I emptied, measured cleaned and logged its contents. It was work. But I believe I'm healthier for it.
I had low energy for quite some time after surgery but i rolled with it instead of fighting against it. I didn't need stress adding complications to the pot so i tried to remain super chill about everything. It was major surgery after all and i was honesty happy to be alive.
My incisions took a while to heal and were very itchy so i cleaned *around* the incisions with alcohol before putting the hydrocortisone cream *near* the incisions. It helped alot.
One week down many more to go !

It's just the oddest thing to me. I think it's better than sweating bullets! Stay warm in Alaska, I'm your neighbor in Washington. 😊😊

gabybab got a reaction from Mdnytangel in Fear of being thin
These are all normal feelings. Trust me I have these and more going through my head. I'm very worried about skin hanging and a hanging chin. But, I'm marching forward tomorrow. Best of luck on yours. I bet you will be happy with your outcome!
