  1. although i havent been banded yet i can feel your pain. Ive found that when i get down into those deep dark days that getting some sunshine and some exercise helps a little. i also journal...a lot! it helps sometimes just to lt the feelings out. you have already taken such a huge step in taking back your life and taking back the power you have over your own body. we all have bad days but if your days have been going on for a few months maybe you need to talk to your docotr about depression. there is no shame in having depression or in getting help for it. perhaps a support group would help? ive also found that keeping track of my emotional eating ...journaling when i overeat or emotionally eat...helps me recognize my emotional triggers so that i can recognize them and distract myself ith something else before the food touches my lips. you should be prooud of the commitment you have already made to getting to a better you. you are doing great and just keep on trucking and youll get to your goal in no time!
  2. I also would just like to wish you good luck with your chemo. i hope that things go well for you and will say a prayer for you. best wishes!
  3. LMFAO ...seriously that made me lol...hahahhaha What a wenker! lol
  4. I am very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know, having lost a baby also, that there is nothing anyone can say or do that will ease your pain, but I pray you will find some comfort in the love of your family and in the Lord. My deepest sympathy.
  5. Seriously? Dont you have anything better to do?
  6. Congrats to all of you and good luck!
  7. I was 18. But seriously at the age of 12 you have to wonder where they were..the parents..and why would they allow their 12 yr old to be dating a 15yr old? at least i believe she was 15 or so...my child is almost the same age now and I have had "the talk" with her already and established open communication so that she will be able to talk to me about sex. I agree that parents can't always be "on top" of their children and as they get older they have to make their own decisions including having sex but it says alot about the world and our society when we just accept that 12 yr olds are having children and don't stop to think..what is wrong with this picture...
  8. Just wondering ...but have they tested you for pertussis/Whooping cough? I had it a few years ago and it sounds alot like what you are describing..i would ask your doc to check it out if they havent already because if you do have it it takes a certain antibiotic and several weeks to get over...just a thought
  9. I am getting ready to ask a family member for financial help o have the surgery. The problem is I'm not sure that they are going to be receptive to lending me the money or the surgery. At this point I dont see another option other than borrowing from them if they will lend it. I'm not sure how to ask without them feeling pressured to lend me the money but I also want them to know that I am serious about having the surgery and making the lifetime commitment to a lifestyle change. I really need to do this for my health..just like everyone else, I doubt anyone here has had the surgery simply for vanity reasons, its way too much work. So I guess I am just looking for some advice on how I approach this as they dont even know i have been looking ino having the surgery. My weight has always been a problem for me and I cant even recall the last time I wore a single digit size..if I ever reall did. Does anyone have any suggetions for me???
  10. Good luck with our pre-op diet and stay strong as i am sure it will be difficult to say the least! congrats on your surgery as well.Best of luck!
  11. Did I say...!!! Seriously??? What in the world is going on that small babies are even having sex? Where the hell are the parents? I had mmy child young but this is beyond fathomable.
  12. Thank you for sharing your story and congrats on your weight loss! keep up the hard work and keep us posted!:crying:
  13. Of course i am only a wanna b but I made the Decision! now if only everyone else would coperate! The AHA moment for me was when i finally realized that i had secluded myself to a point where i hadnet even talked to my friends in almost a ear, the only interaction with ppl i had was at work and i was even avoiding family get togethers because i am so overweight that i didnt want to be around ppl and it was to uncomfortable for me to wear real clothing anymore. I realized I was at home alone not because i really wanted to be but because I didnt want people to see me in general and i became so depressed and isolated that i didnt even realize i wasnt me anymore. I have always been outgoing and crazy fun up until the last few years. I work in a nursing home and see what happens to ppl who dont take charge of their lives. I recently lost a co-worker who finally lost the struggle with her weight and diabetes and lost her life to a stroke related to the diabetes. She was only 58 and now watching her kids who are my age have to grieve for her and try and get throught this. I made the decision. I havent worked out all the details yet but I refuse to live the rest of my life miserable and overweight! I AM taking charge from now on! I will live a happy healthy full life! and I know I dont have to do it alone! Thats the best part!
  14. Thanks for the replies! I was looking at dr. johnell but i really dont want to waste my time or money when my ins wont pay so ive been trying to get more ins info before the consultation. I am told that it is my employer that has said no to covering wls not the ins company, who would have covered it pending manual approval had my employer not discluded that from our policy. nice huh? i work in healthcare so this astounds me a little that they would deny something that could prevent diseases like diabetes etc especially whent hey specificaly care for ppl who end up having to be in our facilities due to these diseases that in the long run cost them more money but anyway... ill have to wait another year for the surgery to even be added to our policy and then who knows if they will approve it? im at a point in my life where i need to do something before its too late and i have some of these diseases that being fat like me causes. i want to be here for my daughter and want to be able to see her get married blah blah blah ..so instead of waiting and gaining ive decided to do somethign about it now! so yet again i findmyself asking what about after the procedure?
  15. So after fighting and arguing with the insurance company i have finally come to the conclusion that i am going to have to self pay for my surgery. sooo... i am scared that if have the surgery through self-pay that i will not be able to get insurance or treatment etc after the surgery. Can having a surgery through self pay methods affect your other insurance coverage? Has anyone who did self pay have any trouble getting treatment after their surgery. i know many of you have had no other option but to self pay im also worried that if their are complications or whatever that i wont have money to pay for them etc..has anyone had this problem? id appreciate feedback from those who may have had good or bad experiences with self pay! I am looking at Dr. Kirschenbaum in aurora co. thanks!
  16. I work full time as the Recreation and Leisure Services Director at a Long Term care Facilty about an hour away from home. I am still working on my degree and have one class left! for Therapeutic Recreation, it is sortof comparable to occupational therapy, and im a single mom!
  17. Ppl like this woman make me crazy. She only had these children to make money. what kind of mother has more children when she already has six and cant take care of them? it is one thing to have several children or large families if you are able to take care of them..i have opions on that too..but it is quite another to have children to make money off of them...did you see the show where she was talking about wanting to have a reality show about her good parenting? how in God's name is this woman ever going to be able to emotionally support this many childen let alone the financial responsibility. it makes me sad that there are so many women who want to have children and arent able and then there is this woman who exploits the system and her children. Shame on her! thats my two cents!
  18. So i am told that LB is not covered by my ins then im told that it is covered but there are stringent req. then im told that because my employer has choosen not to cover the procedure that it isnt covered. :cursing:i just got off the phone with uhc and they told me that my employer has choosen not to provide this coverage with their policy. i asked them to send my benefits coverage etc and they tell me that they can i have to get that from my employer that they arent even allowed to tell me what benefits i have:cursing:...yet they just told me that this is not a covered benefit..so i go to our hr person who really does nothing more than payroll and she tells me she doesnt even know who i am supposed to contact regarding our benefits and to go online to the website..myuhc.com which is a joke in case any of you have actually tried to get information from it other than you have the ins but it wont tell you what coverage you have. so now i am done ranting...has anyone else been through this? Is there a way i can actually get an answer? Should i just give up and figure out a way to self pay? HELP! I'm going to loose my mind-but i guess that would be a weight loss right?
  19. hello everyone! i just found your thread and i hope you dont mind if i but in but i have some questions about dr k and i havent gotten any answers from any of the other threads i tried...im still fighting with my ins co it seems no one there really knows if they cover this surgery or not ...so i have been researching drk and have some questions if any of you dont mind. 1. what is the after care like? does he fix or whatever the complications if you have any or does he charge extra? 2. i noticed that a few of you have new docs...have you had a hard time finding someone to treat you because you had your surgery with out ins covereage? did your insurance cover things like pain meds or antibotics..things like that after the surgery? will ins cover if you have complications ? 3. after the first three months does he still take care of you if you are having complications or things arent going well? what does he charge..his site says he only charges 15 for fills? well im sure i have more but these are a few things ive been worried about when thinking about self pay...i appreciate any help! thanks:biggrin:

  21. My most embarrasing ... i was meeting an old friend..that i hadnt sen in a few years as she lives out of state now and was back only to visit.... at a restaraunt and as i was walking up she sent me a text saying OMG!! u wldnt believe the fat a@@ walking in omg how can anyone b that fat and go out in public?...I was the only one walking in the restraunt at the time. i pretended that we never got it. i was totally mortified and we never talked about it having to tell everyone that i have to have a certain chair at family dinners because i dont fit in my parents dining room chairs. my parents having to get out a special chair for me anytime i have dinner at their house. my daughter wanting me to not go to parent/teacher confs because we went to back to school night i broke the chair and her whole class still teases her i actually asked out maint. guy at work to remove all of the mirrors from my office and area. my boss was demanding they be put back up until i started bawling to him about having to look at myself all day everyday he hardly looks at me now. there are of course sooo many more... someday ill look back and be glad these days are behind me!
