Ringing in the New Year
Right now my focus is on maintaining my weight until January. Then I'll go back up to 3.2 where I eat like a bird. I only have 23 more lbs to goal.

Anyone been to Good Samaratin Hospital in San Jose?
I too was banded by Dr. McKeen at Good Samaritan Hospital. The care was excellent as well as Dr. McKeen. It is also nice to have the support group there. Good luck.

Do I eat if I'm not hungry?
Jennibee, congrats on no hunger. If I were you I would try to drink at least a protein shake during the day. It is quite common to not have as much hunger after you get filled. You may find that after you lose some additional weight the hunger may return.

I Did It !!!!!!!!!
Fred, you are doing great! Keep up the good work.

Is it normal to be naceous every 2-3 weeks.
Yes, that is normal. I spoke to my doctor about this recently. He told me to try Prilosec once a day for the nausea. You may want to try that.

Omnipaque???What is that???
LYnn, it changes the amount of fill based on non leakage. For example, I had in 3 ccs but with my weepy tubing it went down to 2.5 or 2.7ccs. It does make a huge difference when you are talking about restriction.

Brett's still going strong
I heard about that from my son. That is unbelievable.

Unsure what to do or how this works
Oh the joy of the fill wonderland. You are not alone. The band is fickle. If you are hungry an hour after you eat my bet is that you need a slight adjustment. Even .1 ccs can help that. Just be aware that you may only be able to eat more soft foods if you go too tight.

Omnipaque???What is that???
Its a thicker solution to help small leaks in the tubing. My doctor calls it weepy tubing. It works really well. I use it.

Just starting in Utah Please HELP
Dr. McKeen is excellent in Utah. I believe he is out of Salt Lake City. You can call his San Jose, CA office and find out. He works out of both locations. Good luck.

Losing weight too fast
I agree with Tracy. Some people can lose 100 lbs and be fine. In my case, down 85 I need a tummy tuck for sure when I get to goal. 23 more lbs.

sleeping on stomach after surgery?
Raph, I think it took me a couple weeks before I could sleep on my side where the port is. Its really tender.

Banded June 2007 Barely Any Results
Carie, I am glad you are going in for another fill. It sounds like you may be too hungry.
-
Any Tobacco Users?
I smoke and I smoked up to surgery without complications. Good luck.

Nervous, very nervous....
I can eat sushi fine but not that much of it. I have an occassional beer. I have coffee every day without an issue. Check with your surgeon. Good luck.

How do you get used to 'leaving food behind' ?
YOu will likely PB if you overeat. Second, you can eat around the band so be careful. An example of that would be at 15 minutes you are stuffed and you wait an additional 15 minutes to finish your plate. That is a really bad habit to get into so be careful. Throw your food away or take it as leftovers. You can do this.

How do you get used to 'leaving food behind' ?
There is a 2 fold response. First, with proper restriction you will not be able to eat as much. You will likely PB

Fillings
Some doctors do put a little filling in during surgery so check with yours. If not, they typically do fills 6 weeks after surgery at your post surgery appointment.

Someone slap me!
YOu will be fine. Restriction is key here. It took me 5 fills to finally reach a good spot. Keep moving and get fills. That is the answer. Good luck.
-
Sharing my experience
K@t, it is all about restriction my dear. It took me 5 fills and forever to finally hit a spot I was comfortable with. Keep going back until you feel the good restriction and you are losing 1-2 lbs per week. Good luck.

How to tell if your fill is enough, or too much?
There are 3 types of "tight" Tight to liquid, tight to soft and tight to solid. My doctor said that if you are tight to solids you should stear clear of them and try and stay on a soft diet. That being said, if you feel like you really want to eat solids and are having difficulty I would recommend a slight unfill.

What could have happened
Joho, what size band do you have? It sounds like you may need a small tweak. Good luck.
-
I did it!!!
That is a huge accomplishment. I am down about 85 lbs since my preop diet too. I can't wait to hit the 100 lb mark. Way to go!

SCALE VICTORY! Small but significant
Good for you! Isn't it great not to be a slave to the scale. If you eat right and exercise it moves down. It is that simple. Good job!
