You have done wonderfully. There is a great thread out there on plastic surgery. You can find it off of the main posting site. Good luck to you.

waiting for date in NY on fence about lapband or bypass help
I'm glad I went for the lapband but I have to be honest with you. The weight loss is a lot slower. I've only lost 37 lbs in 8 months. I could have done that on a conventional diet instead. The lapband is a great tool. Just remember you will not lose as fast as you would with bypass.

Hmm......should I do this?
The lapband is a great tool to lose weight. You still have to eat healthy although it give you restriction. If you don't mind omitting bad foods from your diet it could be for you. Keep in mind, like WW, the average weight loss is 1-2 lbs per week. I've only lost 37 lbs in 8 months. I am considered a slow loser. Good luck with your decision.

What now?
Sunny, do you need to go into therapy? It sounds like you could use a little extra help.

No, you shouldn't feel guilty. YOu are taking control of your life. I praise you for doing that. 37 BMI is still quite high so you made the right decision.

Welcome to lapbandtalk forum. Fills are a little tricky. I would say what you are experiencing is normal. I would just continue and try and find your sweet spot.

Need Lunch Ideas
Tuna salad works well for me. I can eat bread so I usually can eat a 1/2 of a sandwich in a 30 minute window. I eat 1/4 at a time. I love it.

Adjustment Question
I've been banded 8 months and I hit my sweet spot on fill #5 at 3ccs in my 10cc band (which holds 4.2). When they go to do your fills they have you lay down on the table. They feel for the port (it is hard) and then they insert the needle. Some doctors don't use a numbing agent but mine does. The needle is longer and thicker than usual. You'll be fine.

What's the ettiquette?
The email seems fine to me as well. They know you are recovering.

I'm new
Definitely creamy soups. Just avoid the meat and eat around it. It should satisfy you. It worked for me. Good luck.

My Struggle
I love the poem. I really hope you can have lapband surgery. I am convinced to help me to save my life.

I'm such a Newbie
My entire process took 6-8 weeks. There was no preop diet that I needed to follow for 6 months. Good luck.

burp vs PB
No general burping and hiccups which are quite common do not damage the band. Excess PBing can cause a slip though.

help
It may take you seversal fills to feel restriction. My doctor does fills 2 weeks apart. Good luck to you.

Weight loss leads to need for a fill?
Yes, this is true. Every time I lose about 5 lbs I need to go back in for a fill. I've lost 40 lbs and have had 5 fills. Trust me, it has to do with the fat around the stomach. Good luck.

cost of lap band?
My doctor is roughly $15k and $200 per fill.

Question- After Post Op but Before 1st Fill
Yes! You are still in the healing stage prior to your first fill. Also, you don't have any restriction so technically the band isn't working. I gained 6 lbs when I went to solids but it came off after my fill. You will be fine. Hang in there.

Got my surgical date
My scars healed up nicely. They are, however still visible. Good luck to you.

Banded Friday Jan 19th
Lynn, just to give you an example, my home scale said I weighed 237 and when I went to the doctors office I was 245, 5 lbs more than when I had my fill. I am addicted to weighing myself because I feel like its a check and balance. I try to get into my doctors office every 6-8 weeks to weigh and their happy to do it for me. Good luck.
