  1. Hi KT, My surgery isn't in June but I'll be banded 1 year June 8th. Good luck to you. You will love being banded. Julie
  2. Regina, you are doing great. Congrats.
  3. Cinnibar, when you get banded there is a tube with a port which is placed right under the muscle at the waist line. The fill is how they adjust the band tightness. Typically you can start getting fills 6 weeks after surgery. They numb the area up and insert the needle into the port and add saline. It is painless accept or a little sting with the numbing agent. Typically they don't fill you very fast. I have had 5 fills in 10 months. Let me know if you have any other questions. Julie
  4. Rachel, congrats on getting your insurance approval. Good luck with your surgery. Julie
  5. I have UHC and they covered everything but my fills. I've spent $1k on 5 fills. Julie
  6. Go back today and figure this out. 12 lbs is a lot in a week. You need to get back on track. And if you have a good surgeon he/she should help you do that. Good luck.
  7. Big Thunder, I hope you don't mind my response dear. You are eating way too many carbs. When you get banded your main source of food should be protein. I would cut out the a.m. salad and maybe add a cheese stick. For the afternoon snacks don't have cereal have protein. Yogurt, cottage cheese, hard boiled egg, slice of turkey. Trust me when I say, you will feel fuller longer and lose weight. Good luck. You can do this. Be good to yourself. Julie
  8. No, you shouldn't eat before a fill. At least 2 hours. I wouldn't eat breakfast. They can do a more accurate fill that way. Julie
  9. Makes me wonder. My doctor banded a 16 year old still in high school. Hmmm
  10. I am sorry to hear about your dillema. I wish I could help you. Julie
  11. Good for you. 79 lbs is wonderful. Congrats. Julie
  12. You'll be fine. I can take all my meds no problem. Just relax and enjoy the journey. Its worth it. Julie
  13. Cathy, good for you. You are getting a nice head start on your way to a healthier you. Congrats. Julie
  14. Hi Kaitlin, I'm not 17 like you but you are doing great. Keep up the good work. Julie
  15. At the consult they weigh you. I spoke to the surgeon who described the surgery to me and what it entailed, what I could eat, etc. etc. You can definitely lose 100 lbs in a year but that would be considered a fast loser. I am considered average at 52 lbs in 10 months. You can bet on 1-2 lbs a week if you follow the diet. Changes are because you are a man you will lose faster. Good luck with the consult. Julie
  16. Debi, good for you! Its so nice when the insurance company will pay for it. Congrats. Julie
  17. Hi, welcome to lapband talk forum. You are doing great. Keep up the good work. Julie
  18. Melissa, wow, all the way from Singapore. Congrats on getting your lapband surgery. You will be very happy. Julie
  19. Aimee, following the days after surgery you are generally sore at the port site. You have to stay on liquids, then mushies then solids for about 4-5 weeks leading up to your first fill. You can get a fill typically at week 6. In the beginning, you do not have any hunger (typically). Sometimes the hunger will return with avengence after a few weeks. At that point you get anxious for a fill. The fills really help with hunger. Julie
  20. if it is really runny and can go through a straw it is full liquid. So is creamy soup. Keep up the good work on the post op diet. Julie
  21. Marie, good for you. It just sounded like you were too tight. Hope you feel better. Julie
  22. Hi Junbies, hard to believe we are coming up on a year. I am doing well. Better this week. Trying to focus more on the exercise. I am down 52 lbs so far. I am considered a slow/average loser at 1 lb per week. At least it is a little more than 1 lb though. I started in a size 24 and now I'm in a 20 so I'm happy. I can't wait until I can get my butt back into a size 18. Its probably been 20 years. Thanks. Julie
  23. Sorry about that. I would wait to see when they do it again and bug the insurance company. Also, if you have surgery scheduled sometimes they will authorize quickly. Just a suggestion. YOu can alwasy reschedule. My surgeon allowed that. Good luck. Julie
  24. Jodi, that is great that you found out now and not when it became to serious. Best of luck with your surgery. Julie
