  1. Hi Girls, My name is Sonja and I am new to this too. I am also in So Cal, Inland Empire and starting the pre-op lab work and info. I have been told the insurance should pay because I have a co-morbid state. I had an ankle transplant in 07' and it is imparitive that I lose weight. I am worried that if I do the diet before, and drop weight with that, they might say I am too small. I need to lose about 70 - 80 lbs. The problem is I can't keep it off. That is why I need the band. I am extremely restricted to my exercise ability and an hoping this is the right choice. I would love to keep in touch and be there to support as well as be supported. I hope to be a skinny minny for looks but more importantly so I can walk for the rest of my life. If I don't get the weight off, that will be a problem.
  2. I am new here and doing research. I had an ankle transplant last year and struggle with physical activity although I love it. I have put on 40 lbs in a year and was already over weight. My BMI is over 35 and I was wondering if a surgical procedure would be right for me. I am fighting horrible depression due to the pain of the ankle but largely from the obesity. I would encourage any advice. Is this going to possibly give me more problems? Would it be more positive for my future than negative or vis a versa? I don't know what to do. My doc's have all said they would support me getting this and the records indicate the insurance will pay but after having so many problems with my ankle for the past 12 years, I am afraid I might be causing myself more problems. Is this taking the easy way out? Please help.
