  1. thanks JulieNYC that was very helpful.... I know I shouldn't get discouraged considering this is far better than I have ever done before with any weight loss program. It does get hard sometimes - I just want it to fall off. Thanks for the encouragement. And great job on your weight loss.
  2. Hey gang- I haven't checked in for a long time. Shame on me. I am looking for my third fill as well but have a few concerns. One, I can still eat a lot - ugh!!! Two, My first fill was on 1 cc and when I went back a week later there was less than 0.5cc left in the fill. Then I got another fill of 1ml and for a week and again I feel like I have barely any restriciton. Planning on going back on Friday again for another fill but where are my fills going? Also, I was concerned when I found out I have only a 4cc band - what will I do if 4ml is not enough. What determined placing a 4ml vs 10ml band? I wish I had thought of this sooner so I could have specified the bigger one. I am down a little over 25lbs but it feels like it is moving like a snail. Deb

  4. Hey gang- I was looking at everyone's fill amounts. I have only been filled with 1 ml in two sessions. The first session that put in 1ml and then when I went back for second fill she only found 0.5ml still in there so she filled with 1cc again. I felt tight for about a week and now it feels like I need a fill again. I am also disappointed to find out that I only have a 4cc band - does that mean if they fill it all the way up and I don't get restriction that I have to get another band? I have lost a little over 25lbs but feel like it is going so slow. I was banded April 26th - and I see some people posting 40lbs plus. I also feel like I can eat so much more than I want to be able to. What do you guys suggest? I need some advise.......
  5. Check with your doctor because mine said no ibuprofen due to risk of gastritis ( irritation to the stomach lining). He told me if I absolutely need it and tylenol doesn't work then call the office first and he may prescribe protonix or something to take with it and he would only allow liquid advil. Deb
  6. Hey guys- I am five weeks post op and just got my Visitor a day or so ago. I had very little symptoms of anything on day 1 but on day 2 ( usually heavy day) I suddenly developed Nausea, intestinal cramps, bloating and felt terrible. I felt really restricted today too. Everything I ate feels like it gets stuck. Anyone else? It scared me so bad, up until now I have not had any issues and then all of sudden I felt like I was dying or experiencing a slippage. Hopefully tommorrow it will all go away. Deb
  7. I am another tight banded person without a fill. I just went to see my doc and he say no fill for me - due to my current restrictions - he says sometimes it takes months before you loosen enough for a fill. But Always follow the golden rule - "no liquids with meals" Deb
  8. Hey guys- Just had my 4 week follow-up. I get to move to stage 3 or regular foods today. I am psyched. I have lost 15lbs since my surgery on 4/26. My doc was surprised since most patients who have lapbands don't usually lose during the mushies. I am a little scared to start regular foods as I have eaten very little carbs or sugars over the last 4 weeks. It takes all day just to get my Protein in. I am scheduled for a fill on the 6th of June but he said that I might not need one yet because I am not eating too much according to him and the nutritionist but I am afraid my weight loss will stall. Any one else who may not need filled right away? Deb
  9. I read it before and and again after surgery. It had some pretty good information in it but I use it now mostly for reciepes. Deb
  10. i've always thought about getting my boobs done even before this surgery because I am just so lopsided and my pointed south from the day they grew, but I haven't yet thought about the tummy thing although I have had two kids and one c-section so I am not ruling it out.
  11. i have a reciepe that I use to help with certain cravings and this one may help you. Take 1 tbsp of peanut butter and 1 sugar-free/fat-free fudgsicle. Place peanut butter in a bowl insert the frozen fudgsicle. Place in microwave for 15-30secs. Just enough to barely melt the fudgsicle. Then mix the pb and melted fudgsicle together. Serve with cool whip. - good news gives you 4-6 grams of protein and keeps the calories down. Hope it helps. Deb
  12. Eva- The scars look awesome. I was held together by internal stitches and steri-strips - no glue or staples. Mine are doing really well too. I showed them to a friend and she thought I had surgery several weeks ago because they looked so healed. Lucky for me my surgeon also used two of the incisions they used to take my gall bladder out 6 months ago.
  13. disneynut and ceparano- I am scheduled for my fill on the same day and am going through the same thing since starting mushies. I am only eating three times a day and maybe a 1/2 cup of food and only protein really like fat free refried beans with melted light cheese on top. I am getting my 60 grams of protein a day but my scale is not budging either. I think there is such a thing as eating too little calories so I don't know if I should try to eat more. Deb
  14. MelodyJ- My doc said absolutely no Pasta for a long while if ever. He says pasta swells so it almost always gets stuck. Deb
  15. You would definitely have more than just port pain. So many things can cause port pain - like twisting, bending, stretching, and on and on it goes. Especially since we are all still in the healing phase.
  16. leenerbups- I don't get pain right after I eat at the port site but when I get gas then it definitely hurts in my port site. How long are your meals lasting? My docs says you will get pain if you don't make it last 30mins or more. Deb
  17. There is no way to know if the port is oozy once the scar has healed. The way you might know if you have an infection at your port is based on pain, inflammation at the area, redness on your skin surface. The only time you would spot oozing is if your scar was still in the healing process and you were experiencing oozing out of the scar. Hope that helps.
  18. What stage are you in now- Mushies - started a few days ago - going slow because I am a nervous nelly about putting food down there Favorite Food at this stage: I like Peanut Butter mixed with banana and oatmeal for Breakfast - tastes pretty yummy Missing what food- Nothing yet - but I am sure it's coming once I get through the cautious stage I am in now. It's funny my family eats right in front of me but I don't feel a need to have some. Deb
  19. Hey Bostongurl- Can you add me in - I was banded 4/25 - 11lbs down My totals look like this 270/266/255/145 momof2boys Thanks
  20. My husband has promised that when I get to 200 I get my plasma screen TV. I am psyched for that one. It's still 50lbs away but I am working on it. As far as when I get another 25 down - I think I will go for a day at the spa - no kids, no hubbie just me and a really good book ready to be pampered. Pedicure, manicure, facial, massage - let's face it everyone - we are working hard we deserve our treats. Deb
  21. We could call the new thread April Bandits Unleashed. Just my two cents. But anything is good but you are all right this is getting too long. Deb NJ Girl - Congrats doesn't matter if it was preop or not - just think it's gone for good.
  22. DonnaB- That is good capsule advice. Of Note Nexium can be opened and mixed in anything. I work at a hospital and the manufacturer actually says you can open it and mix. It has no flavor. It's always good to check with you dr or pharmacist before opening a capsule.
  23. I am a healthcare professional and I highly suggest you get that checked immediately. The spot that looks kind of like a blister is the one that concerns me as well as the size of the red area. Deb
  24. I think my post op nurse described it best. You are undergoing the stress of surgery and recovery and while we are at it we are taking away your comfort (FOOD!). I just got my band on 4/25 and I feel a lot of weepy lately. It seems like I cry at happy endings and sappy commercials. Another one of my friends who had a bypass several months ago told me I am in my mourning period. I am mourning the loss of my food!!! Deb
  25. Hey guys- My port has been sore since insertion. I just saw the dr yesterday and asked about it. They said because it is sewn into the muscle if you pull it anytime in say the next 6 months it's going to be sore - he suggested a heat pad and a day of rest after it starts to hurt. He promised it would get better. Let's hope so. I knew when I came out of surgery exactly where my port was based on pain and it's been my only sore part ever since. Deb
