Calling All MARCH '09 Bandsters - We need a name!
I just pray that I can hold out till the 13th. I get my first fill then. Right now I am just flat out hungry and I'm having a hard time dealing with it. Although seeing as how I have lost some, I guess I'm not doing to bad. BUT right now, this is pure HE!!.

Can I scream now?
Right now I want to scream bloody murder. OK, so maybe I'm being a little impatient, but still..... 12.5 pounds is all that is gone and that is the weight that I was my heighest PRE SURGERY till today. I'm really bummed. I'm not eating hardly anything and still I'm not loosing. I'm walking more, moving more, working more and so darn little. I'm about to say that it wasn't worth it at this point. Maybe I should have stuck to my guns and waited the 6 months to be smoke free to do the bypass.

Bad decision?
After reading all this I know that there is hope for me after all. I was just banded on 3/13/09. As of now the swelling has mostly gone and I'm not feeling anything BUT HUNGRY! I feel like I could eat a moose. I'm doing my best to keep my portions down to no more than 1 cup total (or as close as I can get it). But I find that in between meal times I get so darn hungry that it isn't funny! I'm thinking already, and I did this to myself for what? I go in on 4/13 for my first fill. I hope how quickly that date gets here. The sooner the better for me. I don't know what size band I have, I know that my hubby has a 14 cc and already has a 2 cc fill last Monday. HE's doing so much better than me. I guess he has more will-power than I do. I know this works from looking at all of the other people that have done this. I'm so jealous of how well everyone has done. Maybe one of these days I'll be able to inspire someone the way you all have me.

Sleepin in a chair
OH do I know what you are talking about. But beleive me it does not last forever! Honestly it doesn't. My hubby kept telling me to "straighten up" when I walked. I kept telling him "IT HURTS to much right now and I will when it gets to feeling better!" Oh I wanted to smack him silly at times. The moral of my story is that one day then out of the blue you will catch yourself standing straight and tall. And all that pain will be behind you and only a memory.

Help any Suggestions
Time Movement and lots of GasX is the best thing. I had most of my "gas" pockets gone and not much trouble till day 8 of all things! Had some collect under my ribs on my left side right under one of the GALS and there was nothing I could do for it that helped other than NOT MOVING any at all. It took from Saturday till Tuesday for it to finally go away.

Protein shakes - GAG, YUCK, PUKE, EEEEKKKK
I don't know what it was. All I know is that when I get the glass close to my mouth and try to drink I automaticly get the gag reaction! There must be something in the smell even that I just can't stand. I've not tried to "doctor" this brand/flavor. I use 2% milk. Just can't get down to the 1% or skim. I was raised on the REAL stuff and have gotten used to that taste. AT this point I'll take the loss.

Protein shakes - GAG, YUCK, PUKE, EEEEKKKK
I wouldn't doubt it one bit. Now here I sit with a HUGE tub of GNC whey Protein ($40+tax) and well I'm not using it! Now if I had been able to "try it out" before buying so much and had liked it that would be different. Anybody interested in a HUGE jar of chocolate GNC Whey Protein Complex - 81 serving size (less 2 servings). $25+shipping cost! OK>>> Don't everyone jump on this at once! :sneaky:

Really scared in Virginia!
Hello from another Virginian - but from the other end of the Commonwealth. The way I tell people to find me is to first ask them if they know where Bristol is. If they say yes then I say "Well then keep going WEST!" Yes there is land in Virginia past Bristol. :sneaky: I was just banded this past Friday. I'm at the very beginning of my journey. At this point I'm very happy. The swelling in my belly is going down, the pain is less and less every day and I'm just not all that hungry! To be where I want to be means I have about 150 pounds to loose. For me, being my age it will be a little harder to do. But no one has ever been as determined as I am to get rid of it. I've got a lot of living ahead of me and I plan on making the best of it. I can understand being scared. The main thing is to have some really good support. Family or friends or even here if need be. I've learned a lot here in such a short time. Someone is always willing to step up and give some really great advice. Congratulations on your decision on becoming a "bandster".

Is it bad that I want him to be jealous?
Is it bad that you want him to be jealous? Heck no! Even at my age I can't wait till I start to show a LOT of change in the positive direction. Hun, there is this one person that I'd give anything to walk up to, (WHEN I'm at my smallest) and say to him "Now call me a FAT A$$ NOW Jerk! I can change my body but you can't grow a brain or learn manners." So something to that effect. But I won't say a word... I'll just stroll along as if I DON'T SEE THEM and just be grinning from ear to ear on the inside. That will be enough.

OMG I can't believe it!!!
I was really bummed out yesterday when I had to go to town and couldn't put on my "pre band jeans". OH I got them on, even zipped up and fastened. But to sit down would have been way to painfull. I was still so bloated/swollen from surgery. NOW remember THAT was yesterday. Swelling is going down and I actually got up the nerve to get on the scales this morning. ((I know I should have waited till Friday but I couldn't help myself.)) :tt2: The highest I have listed for myself on FitDay was 304  on 3/6/09. Ta Da...... Today it was 288.5! That's a loss of 15.5 lbs.!:mad2: Am I happy? You betcha!!!! Hope that hubby is somewhere that he is getting a signal. I've got to call him and give him the news.

Still doing fine, 3 days out.
I checked in at 7:30. Next stop was Outpatient 2. Did all the stuff to get ready for surgery, IV, etc. I'm not totally sure of what time it was when they took me into surgery. By this time I had been stripped of my watch and was really missing it. I was #2 on the surgery list that day. I think it was around 11 when I woke up in recovery. Dr. Weiss is getting a lot of people having surgery there in Hazard. I think that I heard on that day (13th) that there were 6 !!! My husband had his 3 weeks to the day before I had mine, also Dr. Weiss. He goes back to Hazard this coming Monday (23) for his post op check up/support group/possible fill. The worst part? Sore at the port site. BUT I will say that every day it gets less and less. I've drank some of the liquid Lortab that they prescribe. Horrid tasting stuff, but boy does it work wonders! AND FAST TOO! So far today I've not taken anything for pain, if that tells you anything. AND I drove to town to get a few groceries. I'm not doing that bad at all.

Protein shakes - GAG, YUCK, PUKE, EEEEKKKK
I have yet to find one that I actually like. Or let me say one that is high enough protein to do any realy good. The only thing that I can drink now that I actually like is the "Carnation Instant Breakfast - Sugar Free". Those I can drink and don't gag on. Anything else, I'm just having a really hard time with. I think I was reading some where on some ones post about a powder Protein that is tasteless???? Is there such a thing? Where can I find it? I can start eating beans and such this coming Friday which will help my protein count, but until then I'm just seriously lacking in that department.

Calling All MARCH '09 Bandsters - We need a name!
Hi all! I was banded just a couple days ago. Other than the port site pain:redface:, I'm doing really good I think. I'm still in amazement that with as little as I'm sipping (remember it is clear liquids for 2 days after) I'm just not hungry! That feeling, or lack of feeling, is so strange for me NOT to have. I'm amazed! And loving every minute of it! I'm 3 weeks to the day behind my hubbys band date. He's already looking like a different man. (I put up his photos in the photo section)

Still doing fine, 3 days out.
Well it is now Sunday after being banded on Friday. I'm actually doing rather well. What is amazing to me is that I'm not hungry! I have to force myself to eat/drink something. That is such an amazing feeling to me. I took some photos Friday that I thought I'd share. That's me in all my glory. If it wasn't for the fact that I want to show where I came from to where I'm going I'd never show this photo to anyone. But there is me. This next one is with Anita, she is the reason that I chose Bluegrass to go with my surgery. Such a sweetie. And this one is of Dr. Weiss with Anita behind. He's a cutie for sure!!! And here is Fran checking in. She went in right after me. All smiles!!! Well...... that is a general overview of my day at Hazard. I'm still sore, but it isn't anything that I can't handle. The worst part is trying to get up and down out of a chair and going to the bathroom. I'm assuming that most of you that read this know what I'm talking about!

First full day with my band!
I'll admit, when I first woke up in recovery, the thought ran through my mind - WHAT did I do to myself!!! Was I crazy??? But it seems that there were a lot of people that had problems getting pain undercontrol. But after Demeral (sp), Morphine & Liquid Lortab it finally eased off. I was beginning to wonder if anything was going ti kill it. I've laid around a lot today. I've walked some, just inside house. From room to room and up and down. Seems like I belched up more gas yesterday than I have today. I know when hubby had this done he was REALLY gassy. AND I do mean REALLY! Jar the windows blast. I know that tomorrow he needs to go to Wally World to stock up on stuff to pack in his lunch for work. AND he has informed me that I'm going with him. I'll admit that it will do me good to do more walking and at least it will be level and inside and not to cold/hot. I'll let you know how that goes later on tomorrow evening. So bye for now. I'm heading back to the couch.

First full day with my band, so far so good!
Today is my first full day with my band. :w00t: So far so good! Not a lot of pain, but some. Thank goodness for the liquid Lortab! Now if it wouldn't taste so darn bad. I'm so glad to know that now both of us have this. Hubby is 3 weeks ahead of me, but that's wonderful. He can help me up and down off the recliner. I've walked some, not a lot today. I've slept a lot more than normal. Must be the leftover from all the drugs yesterday..... that and the cotton mouth! Still on clear liquids. Will be tomorrow too. Monday I can have soups! I'm actually looking forward to that!
