  1. Hey alabama bandsters! I'm Brittney and I am about to join the club. I was approved today by tricare and should have surgury sometime in the next month or so with Dr. Robbins in Dothan, AL. Anyone had surgury with him. The girls in the office there seem so nice. Mrs. Meri is so helpful and has been a saint though the whole process. I can't believe I was approved on the first try! I'm so excited and nurvous all in one! Any advice?? I am about to have to start the liver shrinking diet!!
  2. So I am approved and I was wondering for someone who has been banned already. How long till you felt like getting up and walking around. I am in nursing school and really cant afford to miss much class so I was thinking if I got my surgury done on a Thursday morning, do you think I would feel ok enough to go sit in class by Monday? I know I must sound NUTS!
  3. OMG I finally got approved. Now the hard part begins. I will have the surgury in about a month. By my doctors orders, I am supposed to go on this really low carb diet for several weeks before the surgury to help shrink my liver or something. anyone ever heard of this? How long does it take to shrink the liver? Any info would be appreciated. I am so nurvous and so excited all in one! :blushing:
  4. So I already have my referral from my PCM and I am supposed to go see the surgeon on 12/3/08. I am a little scared cause I am at the borderline mark and I am scared Tricare won't approve. I am 5'2 small frame and weigh 194 and I have PCOS. Does anyone know if tri-care considers PSOC a co-morbid? (I think that is what they call it) Also, what do you think the chances are that tricare will approve my lap-band. Any helpful information that anyone has regarding having this surgery through tricare at a military hospital would be much appreciated. We are stationed at Ft. Lewis and I will be having the surgery at Madigan if Tricare approves it.

  6. OK so I am new here and I have a referral from my PCM to go see talk to a surgeon about having the lap-band done. I'm scared he wont think that I am big enough for it. I am only 5'2 and I weigh 194. My BMI is 35.4. I have read many places you need to be 100lbs over weight and have a BMI of 40 or more. I am so close to that and I will be devistated if he says I cant have the surgury. I have PCOS and I have been steadly watching my weight climb for years. I eat well and go to the gym daily with no avail my weight keeps climbing. I have two young kids that I want to do more with but I am embaressed to do anything because how much weight I have put on recently. What are your thought? Do you think he will agree that I am a candidate? Anyone have a similar experience? What did you do or say during your consultation with the surgeon? Thanks! Brittney
