pre-op diet questions

OMG I finally got approved. Now the hard part begins. I will have the surgury in about a month. By my doctors orders, I am supposed to go on this really low carb diet for several weeks before the surgury to help shrink my liver or something. anyone ever heard of this? How long does it take to shrink the liver? Any info would be appreciated. I am so nurvous and so excited all in one!

Not everyone has a liver shrink diet but it's not uncommon. Do what your doc says EXACTLY and you'll be fine. I didn't the first time, I did my own diet and had surgery but no band. While that is rare it can happen. So follow your docs diet and you'll breeze through!

For two weeks I had a protein shake in the morning and for lunch and chicken or turkey (until satisfied) for dinner. I didn't get hungry after the first couple days. I know I had a very fatty liver and it was very nice when they did surgery so I guess it worked well!! Some Dr's have a specific diet. This was what the nutritionist suggested for me.
