Not sure if I should get my 1st fill in 4 days..please help!
Take your time and your body will tell you what to do.I too had really good restriction from day one and lost the majority of my weight thus far in the first 2 months.I had one fill of .5cc at 5 weeks. Then all of a sudden in between one visit to the next I was getting hungrier more often and consuming more at one sitting. So when I saw my surgeon last Wed I knew it was time for a fill(I only lost 2lbs from last visit one month prior) So after having an extremely hard time locating my port and being stuck 5 to 6 times(with the fill needle) they found my port. The Doc pull's out 3 cc's? I was told my band was placed empty! And why the other Doc didn't find the other cc's when he gave me the .5cc?? So she gave me back the 3cc's and added 1 cc.So now I have 4 cc's total when I thought I had .5cc!:cursing:Very confusing!! I had a really rough time after the fill.It was super tight.I also had a cold and TOM! So I'll never do that all together again-lesson learned. It's been 4 days and I'm feeling better just waiting to see how this restriction will be and hopefully the scale will start to move again. So take it from me who had that "honeymoon" period of early restriction ride it out and let your body tell you what it needs! Because it will!! This isn't a race!!(I have to remind myself that all the time!!)Just sit back & enjiy the ride!! Great job thus far!! Pat yourself on the back!! :thumbup:Hope all this blabbing helps!! LOL :scared2:

Do you get sick of other people.......
Is it just me or does anyone else find it irritating when others "assume" what you should or should not eat?? or like their watching every bite that goes in your mouth?? or stupid questions like"you can eat chocolate?" .Yes I can,I probably shouldn't but they didn't remove my stomach I just have a band on it!! Soooo irritating!! :rose: I know I shouldn't worry about others but I hate feeling like I'm being treated like a child or an invalid!!

The cough can cause band slipage or damage to my band?
Sorry everyone is feeling so bad,but glad I'm not alone. This is my second bout being sick in the last month.First strep throat took 5 days antibiotics(tore up my stomach) finally felt better after like a week and a half only to get sick again 3 days ago with horrible cough & congestion! I too have been coughing so much it hurts and is sore. Then I got a fill on Wed w/o even thinking it could make things worse! Oh boy.......I've been miserable & hurting for 2 days. It's very tight and my whole neck, shoulders, chest, abdomen & tummy are sore.Plus I'm still coughing! I'm trying to wait it out but I'm sure not feeling well.......:thumbdown:I think I;ll call my Doc tomorrow to see what she suggest's...............

Just a question I just had my second fill yesterday and I'm also sick with a bad cold. Was it not a good idea to get the fill while being sick? I have been feeling really bad all day.I feel pretty tight but can still get fluids down.Any advice??

Aspirin?
My surgeon said no anti-inflamatory or ibprofen products for the first year. It's been tough.I had a big "advil-habit" espicially during TOM.But I'm managing.LOL  Just got my first post-band cold too & trying to figure out what I could take was kinda hard for that too.............

Welcome LBT!! Congrats on your upcoming date! I'm almost 3 months out & would not change anything for the world. It took me almost 2 1/2 years to get approved too.......but it is sooo worth it. It was rough in the beginning but now it's smooth sailing so far. It's a huge learning experience but there is tons of great advice & knowledge here. So best wishes to you as you start your "new" life to a thinner & happier & healthier self!!

Pain around port?
Hey there kickboxer, Does yours seem to get worse in coralation to how much you eat.I'm in need of a fill so have recently been able to eat a little more than normal so I didn't know if that was making it worse. On the "passing gas" issue(sorry to be un-lady like:w00t:) I do that frequently too.....So not sure if that just comes with the territory?? Anywho I'll definitely ask the doc! Take care!

Breaking a plateau
Hey there.............I'm almost 3 months out and have lost almost 50 lbs and have one fill also so were almost in the same boat,I too feel like I've hit a plateau.......I'm stuck between 207 & 209.I haven't been faithful about exercising so in that respect your one up on me.I have been evaluating my eating habits,I cant really make more than 2 or 3 hours without being hungry so I think I'm in need of a fill. But I also think I've been eating more carbs than protein so I'm trying to work on that. Hope any of this mumble-jumble helps, but at least were not alone......I see my Doc next week so I hoping a little filler-up will help with the hunger!Hang in there!

not losing!!
That"s what I heard too.......1200 calories. It's hard though to get it all in and a pain to keep track of (for me)I'm really consentrating on the protein too because it's important too!Hang in there you'll get there!!

I miss food--but not because I am hunrgy!
I went thru that too.........people would come over and I would love to feed them!! It's like it brings some satisfaction to see other people eat even though you cant.I dont know it is a weird thing to explain. I think it's just weird for food not to be controlling your life anymore!! It's also a huge burden lifted off too.I use to wake up in the middle of the night to eat and now I'm like "gee I'm hungry what should I eat?"It still amazes me when I can stop myself or not even finish something!! I'm loving my band!!

Protein drinks ?
Drinking an isopure drink as we speak. Not half bad! Thanks for the "heads-up" T-quad!!

Didn't get first fill yet
I'm almost 3 months out,I got one fill of .5cc at 5 weeks and I had to "beg" the doc for that! He really thought I did not need it as my weightloss was really good.Comparable to a RNY patient per the Doctor. So then I was back at 9 week checkup expecting another fill and due to weightloss my surgeon advised against it.Plus I have had some pbing & sliming. She explained it's almost better to be underfilled then overfilled. They can always add to it.But when it's overfilled you get reflux & vomitting and can strech the pouch more.So after hearing all that I decided to put in slow gear and just enjoy the ride and not try to make it a race. It's hard because after so many years battling & so many failed attempts this actually working put's you on a "high" and you dont want to come down ever! But the doc assured me I'll get there just not overnight!!

WHy didn't anyone tell me....????
Gentywind, Thanks for the congrats!! Your doing great too! I didn't realize our dates were so close together.Very Cool!! You just made alot of good points that really reinforced things for me.Because you start out so good by the book and then little by little you let your guard down and then it's just all bad from there.....So thanks & have a great day!!

Massage ??
I'm not quite 3 months out and I had a massage last week,it was mostly an upper back & neck massage but I was fine.I've been seeing a chiropractor for neck adjustments but I told him what type of surgery I had and so far everything has been fine.

WHy didn't anyone tell me....????
Gentlewind..........all I can say is Dang girl! You nailed it on the head for me.I too thought it was going to be easier even though my surgeon's office was very honest with me about preparing me for the hunger & me having to make it work for me instead of the band doing all the work.Food choices are crucial, your right.Once an addict always an addict. It's crazy.Feeling hunger & learning to deal with it is crazy.I know I need to jump on the exercise "band-wagon" too.But wow that was really so well put, exactly what you said. Thanks for the insight & bringing it back home!!:bored:

Someone please help- food stuck for first time
I've gotten food stuck twice......crackers once & bread.....I walked around did some heavy "lamaze" style breathing and finally bent over the toilet, relax and resigned myself to barfing and "wa-la" it passed.(first time)Second time same scenario but I did Pb & alot of sliming!! All in all it hurts like a mother & it is NOT alot of fun.But talk about a "learning" experience!! Hang in there!!:bored:
