I like Angie's Idea! It seems to be like the same 5 people trying to pick a name though, no one else seems to care and I know there are like 30 people being banded in June. I have a list of everyone, should we maybe private message them all and get votes that way and then like majority rules? I dunno just a thought! :thumbsup:

I think I will be in the same boat as you, most people I have talked to that had the surgery where I am having it did not have to do much of a pre op diet, they try to get you to loose 10% of your body weight pre op and that is the diet. I'm not sure how I would do being on Clear liquids for weeks at a time, I'm not all that nice when I am hungry! lol

What are you drinking on your liquid diet?

I started taking it a few monthss back, I am not pre diabetic but one of the side effects of the med is that it helps pcos, go figure. I am on a really low dose 500mg once a day to seehow my body reacts. So far so good, I feel great. I don't know if its helping though!

hey that is SOOO exciting! I have aetna too and I was surprised how easy it was to get approved. I was approved as of March 9th and my surgery date is June 19th! Let me know what you find out your surgery date!

i never saw that poll you are talking about until today after reading this thread. I agree with some of the other users who said we should add some more names. I don't have any other idea other than the 2 that are up there though.

I am having a band teaching class in the begining of June right before my surgery, I am assuming at that time they will tell me what kind of things not to eat, but as of right now they haven't told me. I was hoping you all could help me out. I've heard pasta, rice, and bread. However, I also know that some of you will say it varies from person to person. I would love to know by your experience what you would suggest NOT top eat! Thanks everyone! oh yea, what about corn?

Hey Everyone! So all of us are averaging about 1 month till our surgery, some a little longer and some a little less now that it is May 2nd! But I thought we could all come up with an exercise challange for ourselves this month. I think we should all create a challenge for ourselves and post what it is here and periodically come here and update each other on how we are doing. Let's keep each other accountable so we can really get this weight off!!!!!!!!! My challenge: 2 hours of cardio 5 days a week!!!

Really? There is not coverage for bariatric surgery in Canada? I guess I never would have thought that! Wow. If you don't mind me asking, I've always been curious to how much the surgery actually costs. I know it varies. They actually wanted to band me on the 11th but I'm going away on vacation so I am getting it done on the 19th, so I'll be thinking about you on my almost band date! haha.

I am challenging myself this month....I am going to be doing 2 hours of cardio everyday Mon-Friday and it started today! I was on the treadmill for an hour and the eliptical for an hour.

please please please wear a mask on that airplane! even if someone has a regular cold you always catch it because you are in such close proximity on the plane! They said the swine flu stays in the air for 1 hour so even if someone on your flight doesnt have it, someone on the previous flight might have! wear that mask!

every dr.'s requirments are different. Mine does not make you go on some crazy liquid diet 2 weeks before to reduce the liver. They ask that you loose 10% of your body weight, for me that was 10-15lbs prior to surgery to shrink the liver.

When you go to your initial consult, they will weigh you and measure you. Right then they will caculate your BMI. However I would explain to them what you have said here. When they send your paperwork to your insurance, the doctor deciding if this is medically needed will look at your height and know that you could have no shrunk 2 inches lol and should assume the 5'7 was a mistake but I would ask your surgeon to have a note made in the paperwork they send to them. Can't be too careful with insurance!

Hey I just wanted to let you know that I have Aetna too and I got approved super fast! I don't think it even took 15 days, I think it was about a week! Hoep everything goes smoothly for you!

I love diet soda too! Diet coke is my fave! I have decreased my drinking....but have not stopped it completely. My surgery is 6/19 and I'm afraid I will crave it so bad! I'm also worried that if I drink it after surgery it will stretch my pouch. I've heard that is what it does, anyone else heard that?
