The fill has kicked in!
Hi....CONGRATS on your weight loss so far. That is GREAT. I had my 4th fill this week and I feel the difference FINALLY!!! I am so thrilled with it too. In just a few days I lost 3 pounds and don't feel the need to eat as much or as often. This is SUPER. I also got to my 25 pound mark (3 months - post op), this is wonderful. Keep up the good work!

travelling for the first time since being banded
Hi....Just try to plan ahead, but be SUPER careful. Last time I was on a trip and decided to eat, not thinking I was overeating, for some reason I got super sick and ended up feeling lousy for 4 hours on a plane ride home. Be careful, don't be adventurous with food while you're far away from home, it could really put a damper on your travel plans.

Week 17 Post Op
Florida PETE.....That is awesome.....WOW. How amazing is that? CONGRATS. I was also a December bandster and so far for me it's only been 22.5 pounds from 226 to 203.5. I could only hope to do as well as you have! Keep it up!

One Year Anniversary
WOW......CONGRATS. You are an inspiration for me. I started 226 and I post op 2 months. End of this month will be 3 months. I've lost 20 pounds so far, maybe a tad more and seeing your results makes me feel really happy! I see what you're saying though. I'm only 2 months out as I mentioned and I pretty much eat anything but in smaller portions. I've been trying to stick to Protein and veggies mostly (lately). I hope I can do it, I know I shouldn't be eating pizza, ice cream everyday, etc. Believe you me, I have....Not in big portions but I can relate. Try to regroup. Make healthier choices. Allow yourself 1 indulgence....Maybe ice cream, but make sure it's small. Oh...another thing you should probably call your doctor. You sound like you can use a fill. How many fills have you had? I've had 3 so far. I might go back in 2 more weeks for another one. Anyway, CONGRATS once again! You've done great! I think.....That is great news....

Family & Friends telling Me I'm Obsessed with Losing Weight...Does it happen to you?
You know....I think sometimes our family and friends unconsciously say things that are not uplifting. They don't mean to be hurtful or rude, but they just can't help themselves. I wouldn't be too discouraged. You're not obsessed you are succeeding and doing well. You should feel very proud of yourself and continue your journey with pride. You made a very important step to have the surgery and change your life for good. Why would anyone think you wouldn't change? My sister the other day (she's overweight also and trying to get some type of weight loss surgery in the future) said to me....You know...It's been 2 months since you had your surgery and you've ONLY lost 20 pounds? That is too slow and I'd be concerned that I wasted 14K on surgery that isn't working....I was insulted, but instead I told her, well, I'm not concerned. The doctor says I'm right on track and doing just fine. Plus I've always been a slower loser, why should I expect to lose weight so rapidly? From the beginning we were told 6 to 8 pounds per month is the norm....So why now is she being so negative? I choose to ignore those comments....I'm losing weight and that's all that matters. My blood pressure is normal and I'm wearing clothes I wasn't able to wear. I'm happy! Leave me alone! LOL! So, NO YOU'RE NOT OBSESSED, you are doing great!

another fill- now no restriction
Ya....that doesn't make sense. Disappear? Hmm.... Something sounds fishy! I would definitely go back before you go, but be careful, you don't wanna be overfilled on your vacation and have an episode. I just came back from Vegas and I held off on my fill until I got back. I think I made a wise choice. I'm not so restricted either. I had 3 fills 4.5 cc's so far. However, I'm starting not to snack as much, which is great!

Constipation - few days post op
Hi.....I have tried BENEFIBER packets, they look like Crystal light single packets and I pour one of those in my protein shakes or in a bottle of water mixed with ice tea and can't tell, plus it keeps me going regularly. I do about 2 per day. However you wanna gauge yourself and see if it has you going too loosely, if so, bring it down to 1 a day. Sometimes I stop for a little bit and if things start slowing down, I start back up again.

Strange noise coming from my tummy
Nope....it's not just you. Since I had the surgery, my stomach makes noises too....Never did that before! It's funny!

13 Weeks Post Op
Florida Pete.... CONGRATS....That is awesome, you are doing amazing! I was banded in December as well. Slightly over 2 months now. I've only lost 20 pounds. I hope with my 3rd fill I'll feel much more restriction. I was going to the gym at least 3 days a week, but this week was crazy hectic and didn't get a chance to go. Next week is the same thing. I'm hoping to get back into my workout routine soon and start to see more results. Can't complain about 20 pounds though.

Sodium
Ya....try to stay away from that stuff.....I do and I think it helps! Plus I've been drinking lots of water and that is also helping. I've noticed that when I drink water I don't feel as bloated, my rings aren't as tight!

first comment
CONGRATS. That is awesome! I understand though. I'm 2 months out and have lost 20 pounds. I really wish it was more and I wish I was more restricted. I have my 3rd fill next week. Can't wait! Hope I start getting to the SWEET SPOT!

Another fill-Down 18.4
Hi...I had my surgery 12/30 and I've only lost 20 pounds. I seem to lose 3 pounds and gain 3 pounds. I'm going for my 3rd fill next week and so looking forward to it. There are very few things I can't eat. What do you eat? I know I should stay away from carbs, but I'm a carbaholic and I wish I didn't want them. It's so hard! Anyway, CONGRATS on your weight loss. I'm glad you're doing well.

What can I expect after a fill
What you are feeling is normal. For me, on my first fill, I felt restricted for a day it seemed, then back to normal. Then I had a second fill and that helped a bit more because my snacking decreased. I think one more fill might be the trick for me, I hope.

About The Port...?
WHOA....That is strange. For now, I can't see mine at all or feel my port. Thank God, that would weird me out, TOTALLY! I hope it stays that way too once I lose all my weight. For now, I can't feel it or see it!

how much dose it lapband cost
Hi. My doctor in Florida, charged a total of $14K this includes the surgery, fills/adjustments, nutrition appointments, pre op appointment, all for 1 year after the surgery. The only thing that was not included was my primary care visits (2), and the tests they had to run for clearance. These included (for me) and EKG, blood tests. I know some people have to do other types of tests, depending on the doctor. I didn't have the great opportunity of having my insurance pay for it, it was a policy exclusion. I paid out of pocket. That was tough, but it is worth it.

AWESOME.......Congrats. I have 7 more pounds until I get there! CAN'T WAIT! I've been working so hard.....CONGRATS!

I had the most lovely experience today
WOW....I read these posts and say, when will I feel restricted. I really hope to God I never PB, but I think I might just have a situation seeing that I haven't really been thinking much about the chewing. What I would really like is to feel repulsed by carbs. I can't seem to stay away and that's probably what's slowing down my weight loss.

Terrible shoulder pain
Yep....sounds pretty normal. I had that too. My best approach and what worked for me was breathing exercises. Take a very deep breathe, then let it out slowly. Do this a few times. It should help.

Hello and Happy Monday!
Hi All: I was banded on 12/30. Only lost 16 pounds so far, that is super disappointing, but I'm happy I've lost some...I'm making small goals for myself now and really working hard this week to get another 10 pounds off by March 7th. That's about 2 weeks. I know it sounds unrealistic, but I'm really going to try for it.

Half Way!!!! - 71 lbs!!!!!! Four months Post-op!!
WOW.....I'm almost 2 months post op and only lost 16 pounds. I wish!!!!! I must be doing something wrong! CONGRATS though, that is AMAZING!

1st day out - sleeved in MX - GREAT EXPERIENCE
Hi....I'm really glad to hear that you're doing ok. My sister is really interested in the sleeve, particularly in Mex. Is there a way I can connect her with you?? Hope you have a speedy recovery...

Can someone tell me about Max-Out-Of-Pocket?
WOW....I can understand that concern. However, I would have rather paid 4K than 14K. The only thing I do know is that I'm glad I did it. I had my surgery almost 2 weeks ago this Tuesday and I've lost 16 pounds. That is what I LOVE!!!! Good luck! -Yvette

Banded 12/30
Hi December Bandsters: I was banded on 12/30 and so far so good. I go back to work next Monday and I'm glad too, I needed this time to recover. So far I have to say my biggest challenge is pain at the port site, supposedly that's normal. I've lost 14.5 pounds so far this includes the weight I lost pre-op on the liquid diet. I think I'm doing well. I have to admit, I feel ready to be at the soft foods stage now. I really need to move on. I know its a process but my body feels ready for it. For now I'm being good and sticking to the creamed stuff. I'm excited to see how much I lose before my first fill. I have my appointment with the surgeon 1/14/09. I don't think I'll get the fill then, but we'll see. Anyway, hope everyone else is doing well.

Day 5 Post-Op-- The Treasure (?) in the Closet
OH CONGRATS....That is such a fabulous feeling. Good for you. Enjoy shopping in your closet.

mind altering
WOW....That was a great post. Let me tell you it was like I was reading all about me and what I've been going through. I have to say that I agree 100%. Today I actually cried. I couldn't believe what I had done to myself. Anyway, I did come to the conclusion that this surgery was necessary for me to live longer and a healthier life. I'm glad I did it. It's just tough just being on liquids for so long. Can't wait to be in the mushy stage. I think I'm ready for the mushy stage, but I'm waiting. Don't wanna jump the gun and make a really bad choice. Well, thanks for that post. It was good.
