  1. Welcome! It's a great board, lots of good info.
  2. My Doctor only started doing the Realize band last month, so he strongly pushed the Lap-band. I am happy enough to go with his recommendation, as he is the one with experience. I have read up on the Realize band and I think the on-line support sounds fantastic. I have been cleaning the house like crazy, trying to get everything settled for the kids, so me having a little down time won't be too much of a problem for them. I am so excited. I can't wait for Friday to get here.
  3. I'm also being banded at St. Agnes Hospital in Maryland on 2/6. I am trying my best to stick to the pre-op diet. My pre-op in low carb, high Protein until 2/5 and then Clear liquids until 48 hours post op. I have been stocking up on Atkins shakes, liquid Vitamins, liquid tylenol, and trying to narrow down my Protein Drink selection. Isopure seems to be the best option so far, but still open for new ideas. :w00t:
  4. Well I went out today and picked up liquid tylenol, liquid Vitamins, chewable calcuim+Vitamin Dand Gas-x. Dropped my perscriptions off to have them filled for next week. I am so excited come on 2/6. I ordered my Atkins shakes online, so the only thing left it Protein.... off to the vitamin shop.
  5. Hi, Congratulations on starting your weight loss journey. I am scheduled to be banded 2/6. I went in for my orientation on 11/4. What insurance requirements do you have? Good luck!
  6. I am scheduled for 2/6, when's your date?
  7. I love this thread! I am scheduled for surgery on 2/6, so I thought I should put some thought into things I won't miss... 1. You look good for having 7 kids..... ( I just want to look good) 2. My little ones arms not reaching all the way around when they hug me. 3. Shrinking into the background so no one will see how fat I am 4. Walking into a room with a thin friend and no one notices I even walked in. 5. People saying you "were" so pretty before you gained weight. 6. Squeezing... into everything. Things I look forward too... 1. Buying a full length mirror, because I am no longer avoiding myself 2. Tucking in my shirt 3. Big smile from my adult children when they introduce me to there friends. 4. Going to functions with the ex husband and new wife and being proud of how I look. 5. Going to my oldest's Police Academy Graduation in July 09 and not feeling like I am embarassing him by my size.
  8. I finished my pre-op today! I am eagerly waiting February 6th to get here. I have hospital registration on 28th and my surgery prep class.
  9. February 6 is my date! I am so excited. I am ready to get started. I have my pre-band class on Jan 28, and need to schedule a pre-op physical, but everything else is good. I am just so ready for a change. I am also looking forward to going through this experience with my fellow February 09 bandsters. Sheila
  10. Carefirst approved my procedure in three business days! I am so excited. My BMI is 40.1 and no comorbidities. I am so excited!!! Sheila:thumbup:
  11. Hi everyone, I'm fairly new here. I've been lurking for awhile, but only posted an introduction about a week ago. I met with the surgeon today for my final appointment, before submitting the information to the insurance company. I am soooo nervous. I have Carefirst MD Bluechoice and they are usually pretty good, but I am so afraid they will deny my request. My BMI is 40.1 which meets the minimum requirement with out comorbidities. Well I was hoping for some company during my wait. I am crossing my fingers for a February date! Sheila
  12. Hi Everyone, I have finally worked up enough courage to introduce myself. I started my Lap Band Journey on November 4th when I went to the WLS seminar. Since then I have met with the surgeon, and done all the pre-op testing required. I completed my 6 month diet requirement through Jenny Craig last year. I am now schedelued for my final Surgeon visit on 1/14 and then they will submit my packet to Carefirst BCBS and see what happens. I am so nervous about the possibility of being rejected and that is why I have been afraid to post. I currently weigh 223 and am 5'2" tall, my BMI is 40.5. I am the proud Momma of 5 boys and 2 girls ranging in age from 20 - 1. I am thrilled with the idea of getting healthy, so I can keep up with the little ones as they grow.
