  1. I buy the vanilla and the plain I add strawberries and 1 tsp of chopped walnuts yumm!!
  2. Betsy, I hear ya! I have lost 47lbs. I was banded 5 mnths ago. I am now craving the old stand by junk food. I find myself grabbing snacks through the day. I think the battle of the mind is the biggest challenge we will ever face in our weight loss journey. Just try not to beat yourself up and put the slip up behind you. We have had years of these bad eating habits we can be expected to change it in a day!! Just keep working at it! Good Luck!
  3. I definatly need to exercise. I can eat the same foods week to week, i will only loose 1/2 to 1 lb without exercise. I will loose 2-21/2 when I do exercise. This sucks for me because i HATE exercise. I have been running now for about 4months and am still waiting for that "runners high" I keep hearing so much about. I push myself out the door because know it is the only way i will loose the weight!
  4. LMAO.. I am so with you! I have lost almost 50 lbs and my "wonderful" sister-in-law has said nothing to me! It feels great to be the "thin one" now!
  5. I was doing so well! Down 32 lbs. I had a few jelly beans on Sunday and now I find myself picking at the kids Easter candy! I need to stop but my head says it is soooooooo good! HELP!!!
  6. Mimi- Predinisone will make you gain weight. My mom use to have to take for her MS. She use to pack on the pounds. I remember her having a fit when she was told to take it again. Hope your pain goes away! Denise
  7. Jon, at the seminar they will probablly tell you all that you can expect from pre-op to life after the band. I was very nervous about the whole surgery thing too. You will have to do some testing before the surgey though. I had to have a upper endoscopy (they put you asleep for). Abdominal ultra sound and blood work. All of these aren't to bad either. It is really worth all the things you have to do. I have been banded for almost 3 months, lost 28 lbs and would do it all again! Your recovery time isn't bad either. I was feeling almost 100% 2 weeks after. Good Luck with your journey!
  8. I just had my second fill, I am up to 8.3cc's in a 14 cc band. Before my second fill i could pretty much eat anything. I tried to have Barrilla Plus pasta last night. I felt it going thru. Very weird! I was a liitle painful not horrible, but enough to make me stop eating it. Why does this hurt but chicken is okay? Anybody have ideas?
  9. Thanks so much Carol for your encouraging words. Your so right. I will do the run even if I have to walk some of it. My three sons ages 12,12,11 say they want to do it with me. They are all runners. I think their support will help me get through it. My Dr is even rooting for me. He wants a picture of me crossing the finish line! Wish me luck! Denise:thumbup:
  10. Hi Guys! I started the the couch to 5k also. I am on week 4. Did any of you have to repeat a week? I am having a hard time doing that last 5 min run in this week. I want to do a local 5k on May 2, but am afraid I won't be ready!
  11. Thanks, so much. I am suppose to start solids Monday am, but because of Super Bowl Sunday I was planning on eating Sunday night. I was going to go with Turkey Chili. Do you think raw veggies with lo cal dip would be okay?
  12. I have been on soft/mushies for 2 weeks. It is time for me to start solids. I have done the eggs and beans. What is a good solid food to eat?
  13. I get to eat solids on Mon. I am soo happy yet a little nervous too. Anybody have suggetions in what to eat?
  14. Kim, I was banded 1/5/09. I also get a sharp pain when I walk to much. I think the pain is coming from where my port is. The port is stitched into stomache muscles and I guess it is just the muscles being pulled. I also get pain if I stand to long too. From what I hear it takes about 4 weeks for it to completly (sp) heal. I hope anyway!!
  15. Thanks so much for the reply! That is actually the brand I bought. I hope you are doing well.
  16. Hi, I am post op day 8. Feeling pretty good. Dr says I can start full liquids today. I can have Sugar Free Yogurt. What brands of yogurt are you guys eating? The ones I have looked at all say the have high fructose corn syrup etc.. in them. Thought I was suppose to stay away from that. SO CONFUSED!!! HELP!!!
  17. Hi Debbie, I live in Toms River and am getting banded on Jan 5th by Dr. Borao out of MMC. They have a pretty good program there. Support groups, dietician an Psycologist. I have been happy there so far. Good Luck on your search!
  18. Hi Judy! My Dr. recommends centrum chewables or centrum silver chewables. I have found them at Target. Good Luck!
  19. Just got my date of Jan 5th. I am little worried though. I haven't gone back to my surgeon since my egd. The Gastro dr. says I have reflux and doesn't think banding is good for me. I have never met this guy before that day. Don't most of us bandsters have reflux? The wierd thing is he kept telling me just to walk an hour a day. Like I haven't already tried that!!! I go back to the surgeon nov 19. I am keeping my fingers crossed!:smile2:
  20. Hi, I'm Denise from NJ. Just got my surgery date Jan 5 09. I am really excited. I have a question though. I had my upper endoscopy done on mon. My Gastro says I have reflux and he doesn't think the band is right for me. I have never met this guy up until then. Don't many of us banding patients have reflux?
