If you're going to Mexico for a lapband read this!
No blood work should have been your first sign to walk out of there, especially when no one could explain "why" to you.Just going ahead with the surgery when there were already red flags, shows negligence on your part too not just the Dr.You need to be aggressive with your own care and always go with your gut instincts.I really hope you're not having any further problems. My care in "Mexico" was great and continues to be.I do have a minor problem with a possible slow leak but My Dr is stepping up 110% and willing to fix the problem at no charge even.

If you're going to Mexico for a lapband read this!
I don't know what Dr you went to in Mexico but mine is very knowledgable in his field and Dr's in Mexico do other weight loss surgeries besides lap band, most just opt to do the safest possible wls for thier patients.Maybe you didn't do enough research on your Dr,or him on you if he banded you for 168 pounds and put "in the wrong size band"

IUD anyone?
Do you have to be on your period to have the Mirena inserted, like with the other IUD's? Did you notice weight gain when you first had it inserted.I need to seriously look into a good birth control.Twice I have lost lots of weight and both times,I got pregnant.Don't even want to go there now that I'm banded.I have too much invested in this band right now.Anyways I already have my 4 kids that's all I'll ever need.

subway wraps, tortillas?
I can't have flour tortillas, they just won't go down.I love wraps though, that's a good question. Are wraps a good food for us or a bad food.Does anyone know the numbers on one of those.I have seen them wrapped in a wheat tortilla or a really thin pita type bread..................mmmmmmm I'm making myself hungry!

Self pay, how much?
I paid $8995.It included the hospital, procedure, all meds before and after, fills for life, transportation to and from the hospital from the border, hotel stay with transportation to the hotel for your choice of 1 or 2 days for you or even for your guest that rather stay in the hotel then in your room on that side bed.Follow up care.Dr Kuri and staff prefer to do all fills with flouro ,each flouro is $70. So I consider every fill costing me $70.
-
1st fill not as expected...
Alot of people say the first fill does nothing for them at all. That was my experience too.If you were going to feel restriction it would be the day of and a few days after a fill because of the swelling a fill causes. If you don't feel it then, then you won't "2 weeks" later because the initial swelling is gone and the stoma is back to normal so if you don't feel restricted you'll probably need to schedule a 2nd fill.My second fill is barely starting to show me what a restriction could feel like, but still not good enough.I've already scheduled my 3rd.

Surgery in Mexico / Aftercare in Minnesota
Hi Rett, Sorry took so long to respond, haven't been online for a while.Anyways everything went good with my banding with Dr Kuri.My sister was banded by him 6 weeks ago.So yeah I do recommend him as a competent banding Dr.The new Hospital is beautiful, looks kind of like a fancy hotel.I loved it.Dr Kuri did do both of my fills so far,but I've heard that his partners sometimes do the fills.I live in San Jacinto Ca.Dr Kuri's fills are free for life but there is a charge for fills with flouro which is,from what I understand ,the way he highly recommends them to be done,so I figure each fill is $70.00 (the cost of flouro). When do you plan on having surgery?

Surgery in Mexico / Aftercare in Minnesota
I was banded by Dr Kuri in Mexico, you might want to look into his services also.He was highly recommended by alot of people.I researched and researched and only found good things said about him,so I decided to go with him for my band. His cost was $8995. Good luck.

February 2006 bandsters unite!!
I was banded Feb 20th,had my first fill April 3rd of 1.8cc felt no restriction when I came home, yet seen the difference on the before and after on the flouro.Anyways I went for my second fill on may 2 and flouro proved no restriction, the Dr then proceeded to withdrawal the old 1.8 cc.He found NOTHING.He said he didn't understand why it was empty! Has this ever happened to anyone? He then put another 1.8 cc and sent me home.I am to call if I have a problems.I do have a slight restriction now but it's only been 1 week.I am just hoping it's not a leak and this has happened to other people. Please let me know what you all think.
