  1. www.singingwithmyband.blogspot.com Singing with my Band is the name of my blog. I journal almost everyday and have a great support system. Feel free to join! I'm going to check everyone's out today too!
  2. I'm also a recovering DP addict. I would drink anywhere from 1-2 2 liters a DAY! I stopped cold turkey the day before surgery. I have read about bandsters that can still enjoy soda, but not me. One drink was all it took for me to PB violently out my nose and burn my chest. I'm actually glad I had that reaction to the carbonation because if I didn't I'd be back on that wagon. It gets easier. I supplement my caffiene addiction with a cup of coffee in the morning and a ice tea or something in the afternoon.
  3. I would have started NOT drinking with meals. This is one of the hardest things for me post-op still. Test out Protein powders beforehand. You do NOT want to be a week post-op (starving) and HATE your shake. try Vitalady.com to get samples, that's what I did. Also, start making protein rich recipes before surgery so they are already staples in your menu and easy to make and enjoy.
  4. 1)When I don't drink with or after meals I see a loss that week. 2)Not eating after dinner is over, no matter how hungry I think I am. 3)Blogging. Being able to put my feelings out there and get support means so much to me. (my blog link is in my sig)
  5. I was banded 07/24/09 and have lost 29 lbs to date. I've had 2 fills and have 4 cc's in a 17 cc band. I still do not have restriction. :smile2:
  6. I'm wondering if you feel that your daily vitamins make a difference in your weight loss. Thanks:thumbup:
  7. You order your child size portion with a side of to-go-box.
  8. I haven't had any since July and I tried a sip for the first time last week and I had stomach pains for a hour. Not to mention it didn't taste that great. So no more for me. Now beer, that's something I miss a LOT.
  9. Hello everyone! My name is Ramona, I'm 30 and I was banded on July 24th at DePaul with Dr. Scott and things are going well. My surgery weight was 316 and I am at 290 as of today. My (any my surgeons) goal for me is about 185 with my height(5'8)and frame. I'm 8 weeks post op and am down 26 pounds. I just had my first fill on 09/17/09. I have a 17cc band and got 2 cc's. I can't really feel the restriction yet, but I'm working hard to eat well. I have a blog that I update daily with stories, menus and recipes. I *LOVE* to cook and try new things. Have a great day.
  10. For the last 2 weeks I have had a sharp piercing pain in the left rib cage and my primary Dr said he doesn't know what it could be. Could it be my tubing caught up in my ribs or something? I don't mean to sound stupid, but I'm in pain and am at a loss for the reason. Thanks
  11. I would doctor up some instant mashed potatoes with a little sour cream and cheese. Another thing I made that was delish was some spaghetti sauce mixed with ricotta cheese, top with mozzerella and microwave until melted. It has TONS or Protein and helps with a Pasta craving as well. GL to you!
  12. I was banded 7/24 and today for lunch I have 2 small slices of roast pork loin w/ sugar free BBQ sauce and a mini cup of unsweet apple sauce. I'm pretty much eating everything except bread, steak and peanut butter. As other posters have said, just chew chew chew.
  13. Welcome to all the newbies since I did my bio. I'm so excited to have so many people to share this journey with. I also started a blog about my band so people can follow along there if they want too. The link is in my sig. Have a great day bandsters!
  14. Restless Monkey- I understand not wanting to wear one for the NSAID issue, but it makes sense to get one for the band itself. If I was in a accident and they took me by ambulance to the hospital and didn't know I had the band, there could be injuries they aren't aware of or if there had to be surgery they could cut into the port or something. Note-I am not a hypocondriac, I'm just over cautious I guess.
  15. My surgeons office highly recommends that each patient get a medical id bracelet so if there is ever a emergency, the dr's can know we have had the procedure and not to give us NSAIDS etc. Did anyone else get one??? I ordered one for the band, but also because I have other allergies that they should know about. Thanks!
