Sharing and Motivating Eachother
New Friends and Triumphs I had the greatest 5 hour chat with my newest friend from LBT last night, who is now back on her feet with her weight loss after regaining and then at some point, standing still with her weight. I am extremely proud of her and happy she is seeing instant results this past week after working extremely hard physically and really cutting back on food. I also have another friend whom I am extremely proud of. She has lost 8lbs on her very own in the past week and is not even banded. She's learning from the forum threads on what to do and what not to do and she's doing it. I have no words that would describe how proud I really am of her. It was refreshing to know that some of the threads and posts I have done or participated in have somehow helped motivate some people to do more, eat less and switch things up to get the scale moving again. What I Post Everything that I post here is not sensationalized. What I post here is what I really do and I live by my word. If I promise to do something, I 100% wholeheartedly do it. I won't sugar coat anything and I won't lie about what I am doing. I will never lie about my weight, about what I eat and what I drink. I will never cheat myself in that aspect. If I mess up, I will honestly tell you that I messed up. I have gained momentum in my weight loss journey, more so now since I found LBT. I am learning so much from other members on here. Especially what not to do. I enjoy reading NSV's, 100lb weight loss accomplishments and New Onderlanders. Reading positive posts is what keeps my momentum going. What Are We Doing? Not Doing? People, EXERCISE, PORTION CONTROL, Water, CALORIC INTAKE AND CARVING OUT CERTAIN CARBS (JUNK)is the key. Let's not play ignorant. We all see it repeatedly here in the posts we read. We see what people eat and that they don't exercise and wonder why they aren't losing or are slowly losing. :violin: Yes It is hard to give up certain comfort foods. (Hard is a 4 letter word) Yes, there are genuine reasons people can't exercise everyday (Health issues, arthritis, excessive weight/pain or new to surgery, etc.) BUT there is no excuse for the kind of food you put in your mouths. The choices we make is all free will, will power and all that jazz. If you are in the supermarket and are thirsty... pick up Dasani water instead of Mountain Dew. You honestly know that you are not supposed to drink that stuff. I don't need to tell you that you shouldn't have that crap and I'm sure you don't want to hear it from me either. If you are here to lose weight, equip yourself with knowledge. I'm trying to share with you here what I am learning. We are all here to share our stories of triumph and loss and to learn from them. It makes no sense to ask a question, then get really good answers and advice and then not take it or brush it off and say that's not what you are looking to hear. What Got Me Here Food - Bad eating behavior Self Abuse - Exercise (lack) How I Changed That Got a home equity line of credit to pay for surgery My bike My treadmill My jumprope My bodyball My freewill and willpower My waterbottle My Own Personal Triumph My latest triumph is losing weight after my band surgery and keeping it off 3 weeks yesterday. My Blessing My blessing - having a home with enough equity to get funding to have the surgery. Everyone knows what they are eating and knows honestly if they are not working out. Don't lie to yourself. I don't care if I annoy you or if you turn your nose up at me. I am not here to hug you when you binge on a pint of Haagen Daas and tell you that it's ok. It's not ok! We all got here because somewhere along the lines we have done something we shouldn't have done. Some of you continue to do it. Something To Think About If you take the total cost of your surgery, plane or airfare, repeat fillings and other operations associated with weight loss and divide it by the amount of weight you want to lose, you'll get a cost per pound. My cost per lb. $10,600.00 for surgery. $580.00 for airfare. No fills so far and no other surgeries or doctors visits. Totals = $11,180.00 divided by 105lbs (I plan on losing) and this does not include the 7% interest I am paying on the loan. It has cost me soo far, $106.47 per pound. Hypothetically speaking, if I stopped losing weight and stay where I am, which is as of this morning -27lbs down, that would mean it cost me $414.07 per pound. I can't live with knowing I'm spending that much money for nothing. I am here to lose weight and to help motivate others to do so. Yes, I am a new bandster and I don't know half as much as other bandsters but I do know that what I am doing is working.

Weekend Weight Loss
TERESITA??? Whaaaaaaaaaaaa??? Omg hon! That is superb. You are doing so well!!! Gosh that's really great! 61lbs gone. I see you are in the next bracket now. Doesn't that feel great? **Hugs** Geesh -4lbs over the weekend and a day is amazing. Weekends are soo hard too. shake it Tere! Do you guys want to do this again this weekend? I'm up for it? I'd like to do it again and fight the "scary weight gain weekends". Let me know if this is a good idea and to keep it going as a kind of reinforcement for our Major challenges such as Bootcamp and Gone For Good Club. I think.. as long as we have something to get us through the weekends, the Monday and Wednesday weigh ins won't be soo depressing.

why do we have toes?
Toes help us balance as we stand. They help push us in the right direction...shall we tip a bit. Imagine just having a foot with no toes. We'd be all over the place and moving around soo much, just to keep still.

What do you drive?
LMAO, WOW! YOU GUYS KNOW TOO MUCH!

Gone for Good Club - May 2006
I hope I don't get in trouble. I was chatting the other night with Mr. PNut and he said Mrs. PNut had an impromptu nap on the sofa. He said his Missy was such a photonut, hence the name. I recommended some shaving cream and a tickle on the nose and a quick snapshot. His reply was something to the effect of.... "Do you think I don't value life anymore?" Something along those lines. I suppose he knew TOM was around... He actually told me he'd rip his arm off and do horrible things to himself before he'd be suceptable *spelling* to Mrs. PNuts.......acts of wrath and vengence. Lmao! Not that harsh......lol!

What do you drive?
Well, according to the seller I had to sign a waiver regarding some crazy "Lemon Law" but he said that he promised that the miles per gallon depended on what I fed the horse.

I hate it when..
I hate it when I'm driving and a person is at the crossroad in the right turning lane and there's no "No Turn on Red" sign up and they just sit there. I hate that sooo much. Time is money baby! I hate it when my kids are laughing and giggling and all of a sudden, "BOOM" someone's hurt and then cries of pain fill the air and echo throughout my house. My heart skips a beat and my legs move before my brain can really register what just happened. I hate it when my husband forgets that we live in a Forest and he puts out the trash and the raccoons get to it. I hate cleaning up the nasty mess. I hate it when DH comes home and leaves his shoes wherever he feels like it. I hate it when the cardboard toilet roll is left in the toilet dispenser. The new roll is on top of the used roll. I hate it when hubby brings home cheeseburgers while I am on the liquids. and finally, I hate it when I can't stop talking. Soo embarrassing.

Gotta ask this sex question....
Lmao! Lmao! Lmao! Lmao! @ Kim8!

I hate it when..
Cool Thread! I hate it when I've had liquids all day and I can't find a nearby rest room.

First Goal Met!
Gentlespirit, that is terrific lady! You are doing a fantastic job. 31lbs and counting. I am particularly happy that you are walking 1 mile a day. That's excellent. You aren't hoping that the band will do all of the work. You are actually working with the band. Now this is how I believe it should be done. I salute you!

Why not CHEAT??!!?
Perfecto! This is how I wanted to explain it, but bravo!!!! That should be the last answer and explanation to the creator's question.
-
Why not CHEAT??!!?
What is this? A debate? Are we feeling ok? Why can't we all just get along? Can we all co-exist? We meaning the Turtles and the Rabbits or the Rule Followers and the Rule Breakers.

Why not CHEAT??!!?
High fives funnyduddies! I like that. You sound extremely intelligent and straight to the point. You made perfect sense and you were absolutely right. "S"'s statement was extremely irresponsible. If a doctor read that...they'd have some serious words. If you have done your research, you wouldn't be asking "why you have to be on liquids for the first couple of weeks (other than to lose weight)." The answer: Your band is stitched into place. Requires healing time. liquid diet will guarantee healing time as it is liquid and will not be soo heavy and not create future band difficulty. Eating a whole piece of chicken.....lol, let's just say......will probably cause some slippage of the band, further expanding your new small manually created stomach pouch, requiring later ...for you to have it adjusted and or removed. Again, none of us are doctors. We did not to go medical school. We are not Licensed. Go by what was recommended. Eating within your first week is a big no no. 2nd week too. Actually my doc recommended 3 - 4 weeks on liquids stating that the band will..in reality, require a good month to heal into place. Here's an article http://ww3.komotv.com/Global/story.asp?s=3392531 I hope you do well with the band but if not, I won't wonder why. God speed!

May I have your attention, please?
I'm soooo loving this momentum! Let's all hop on the weight loss bandwagon and get this train fired up again!!!!! (Puts her hands on Tricia's shoulders and says)...."Let's go yall!!! Come on!" ) :)

Average weight loss
Jacqui, I love you for saying that. It brightened my day. After reading that statistic, it kinda freaked me. I sometimes see things flatly. I'm glad you said what you said. Thank you truly.

Weekend Weight Loss
I'm soo glad I did this challenge. I attended a Wedding and a Quincinera on Saturday night, both in the same night and boy lemme tell you...all the goodies, cakes, Italian and Puerto Rican food you could ever want. I felt soo left out but I'm happy I didn't touch anything but grapes. Mushed.... Plus it helped that my whole family knew I had the band so they would have given me the Evil Eye anyway.

Average weight loss
Yipes Staci. That's an eye opener. I'd hate to be the one to be in the 55% group. I hope to be one of the patients that do better than their statistics. Losing only 55% would mean a total weight loss of about 57.75lbs for me. That would make me halfway there almost with a weight of 182.25lbs. Blah @ statistics! Was this Dr. kim?

Motivation/Exercise
Keka, honey... you are absolutely,...postively gorgeous. Your wedding was soo nice! Oh and the hubby.... handsome as heck. You two make such a nice couple! I did see how your weight yo-yo'd. Mine was that way after I had my son. I just kept going up and down, sometimes under the weight and then up 30 - 40lbs. It's upsetting. But you are doing a great job luv. Keep up the great work and don't lose sight of your dreams.
