  1. When the bread got stuck your saliva had nowhere to go. We naturally swallow about a quart of saliva a day. When you drank the water and pineapple juice (bad idea, BTW) it all mixed with the saliva and came back up. The bread probably disintegrated by then and either fell through or came back up mixed with the rest. We can sit here and tell our sliming stories til the cows come home but no one is ever going to "get it" until it happens to them. Congrats on getting past it. Welcome to the land of the banded! And yes, you should probably stay on liquids for a day or two.
  2. I'm surprised that your surgeon would tell you to take something that large! Look at you...37 pounds lost already!! Are you trying to show up all those whipper-snappers?!
  3. Your hair loss has nothing to do with calcium. It's your body's reaction to the rapid weight loss. Once your body adjusts, your hair will grow back. It happens to most of us. Make sure you are getting enough protein and taking a good multivitamin.
  4. Liquid anti-nausea meds (Emetrol) I'd skip the bananas. A lot of bandsters have problems with them. You won't need the tuna and chicken for a while. Make sure the yogurt as no lumps. There's only 70 calories difference between regular and s/f Carnation Instant Breakfast. You can get the regular at Sam's or Costco a heck of a lot cheaper. $8 for 30 pkgs. as opposed to $5.50 for 10. That's the one exception to my no drinking sugar rule!
  5. This is unfortunate but with any surgery death is always a possibility. It's a risk we take. Luckily, the mortality rate with lapband is less than 1:1000. What you have to ask yourself is what are the chances you will die if you don't do something about your weight? Those odds are much higher!
  6. I agree with Tracy. If you were in starvation mode you wouldn't have lost any weight. Go back to what you know works for you.
  7. You are too tight. Go get a little fluid removed.
  8. I might be willing to do this if you provided more information. That being said I would like to point out a couple observations that I had. First of all, you said that you have been a member here for over 5 years. In that 5 years you have made 23 posts...8 of which are in this thread. So while you have been a registered user, you haven't really a member. Secondly, I visited the web site you listed in your profile. lapbanddoctorreview.com. I clicked on my state (Michigan) and the top rated doctor has ZERO reviews and ZERO ratings. I think I'm gonna stay on the skepticism wagon with Dave and Jack!
  9. Really???? You're kidding, right? As a lesbian, I'm sure there are alot of things you have had to overcome in your life and in your relationships. You're concerned about how your girlfriend eats and how that may be perceived by your friends? I go out to eat with other people often. I just make choices that work for me. Nobody ever seems to mind! If your girlfriend is constantly PB'ing then she may be too tight or maybe she just hasn't gotten use to her new way of eating yet. Be patient and do whatever you need to to help her.
  10. This place is FULL of success stories!
  11. It takes a long time for the brain to catch up with the body. After 3 years, I still feel like that fat broad! You've done great...just keep remembering that!
  12. Onederland is ALWAYS worth bragging about!
  13. Sleep however its comfortable!
  14. If you qualify, you can get care credit for lapband surgery up to $25,000. It's interest free if paid within 24 months. http://www.carecredit.com/
  15. That's great! Next stop....Overweight! I have about 8 pounds to go until I'm "normal"! I swear sometimes it's never gonna get here! But it will!
  16. Fashion Bug has great bras. Most of them are $20 and they usually have buy 2 get 1 free. They always have a few on clearance too!
  17. You need to call your doctor. In the meantime don't take any Tylenol. Acetaminophen is hard on the kidneys.
  18. A three hour psych eval? Mine was 45 minutes!
  19. 2 weeks clear liquids followed by 2 weeks full liquids.
  20. Your surgery wasn't all that long ago. The shoulder pain could be a little residual effects of the gas. Every doctor puts the port somewhere different. It's not exactly under the incision. Mine is about an inch or two to the left of my scar. I wouldn't worry too much since you're going to the doctor in a couple days. Just make sure to mention it to him. I'm sure you don't have a slip or flipped port. I seriously doubt it's old age!
