Feeling like a complete failure!
It's only 1-2 lbs. a week weight loss for the Norm ! This person think he is a Miracle Worker??? or what?? Also,, just a thought ! Have you ever had your Thyroid checked out? It's only a tube of blood drawn by your PCP. If it's not up to snuff, it can make losing weight take longer. Also,,, they know what to do for that too.. So,,, you are very far from loser stats. In fact your just really starting out.. That's not losing at all.... Give yourself a chance, see how it goes, remind him it's 1-2Lbs. a week in case he doesn't know ! He'll know for sure that you know !!!! Next time you go to your PCP, ask him/her to check your Thyroid Levels. Then you will know if that's good to go too. Shirley.

the band to the sleeve ?!?!?
I looked into some research on it: The problem with the sleeve is "from what I understand."" is they cut away part of your stomach, and as a result, the Hormone that causes you to be Hungry is removed. That part was great with me, but,,,, in a couple of years they say that it grows back, and your back to square one,,,,, again. So for now, I guess I'll stick to the band.

I went in for a lap band fill today....
You will in time notice a big difference. If the first fills are not all that much, then like the rest of us, you probably won't even notice it. But once it does kick in,,, you will be able to tell the difference. Thanks, Shirley

liquid died help :(
I just went for a fill today, and that is every 12 weeks with my Ins. So I was there in April. With the help of a fill i lost 33 LBS. . So this is doable ! Don't throw in the towel yet. You have a ways to go, and people on this site to help you, when you hit a snag. Trust me, They have been there and done that. Whatever it may be. So free help all the way through this,,, what more can you ask for ! But you have to be willing to make some changes, and work at it one day at a time. Eventually it will get a lot better. Shirley.

I went in for a lap band fill today....
I had point 1 cc put in this 4cc band, so it has tamed my appetite, and I will be on liquids for a while. But i feel Great ! When I first went in 12 weeks ago I weighed 288. Today I weigh 255 Difference of 33 Lbs... I was shocked myself, because I only go by his scale. But I'm rite in the Ball Park. If this keeps up, I can see, feel, smell, taste, and DREAM of Onderland in sight for the end of this year. If it slows down, then let say by Easter..... If that happens,,,, it will be the first time since I was a Teenager. I almost forgot,,,,, When I first got weighed for my pre op diet, I weighed 356. It took a while to happen, but that's 101 Lbs. Gone for Good ! Slowly but steady, this Turtle will keep moving along. Shirley.

Any Regrets after Lap Band Surgery ?
I'm glad about all your positive feedback, including mine. Those were different days. If you have positive support on your side,,, that's Great ! It's just amazing that not 1 person thought it was a good idea??? I am not a critical person. If you have to have something done for your needs. Then it's a good thing that your doing something about it. That's the way I see it. I don't understand how anyone could not think the same ! Just all negative. That was the hard part. Once I learned to shut my mouth, things were better, and the weight is coming off, and people are saying Geeee Shirley, your lookin good! Whats the secret? WALKING, AND 1200 CALORIES A DAY. is all I'll tell them, and it works. So,,, I can't argue with what works.......

Any Regrets after Lap Band Surgery ?
I can touch on not telling anyone... When I was Banded in 2006. I spread the good news ! Happy as can be.... Did I catch all the Sh*t that they could throw at me. Why did you do it, don't you have any willpower? Can't you do it on your own? Why would you do something like that? Are you crazy? You get the idea. Not 1 person said I wish you luck or anything positive. So this time around, I learned. It's my business. Except for what I share on here. You may think that's shallow ! But it's not ! It's just keeping a situation under control, so people don't get carried away with it, because they don't understand it. It can run wild, with all the misinformation.

I am so #%$#^ hungry!!
Believe me, we all know how you feel.... It will end when you get past the liquid stage. At least you will have something in you to help the way you feel. Once you start getting fills(could take a few) your appetite will tame down. So hang in there, it does get better. Protein shakes help kill the hunger beast to

How do you deal with in between clothing sizes?
I would go with the Drawstring to keep them up. I don't know about where you live, but here you trade in your old scrubs, and they pay you so much twords a purchase. Now that can be Brand New or Something that someone has traded in, like you would have done. These are Scrub Shops So you might want to look around, and see if you can find anything like this, and purchase some Scrubs.

Bread
I never touch the stuff... Bread, Buns, Rolls you name it.and there is no way that I eat any of it.

Question..Liquid keeping me full!!
When you drink any Fluid, shakes... all the Water or liquid that you drink goes to your water intake for the day. So if your doing 3 8oz. shakes a day, that's 24 oz.. yet your thinking I still have to get my 64oz. of water in me. No you don't! You would now need to add 40 oz to that 24 oz. to get 64 0z of water or fluid for your intake. You might now have some room to eventually eat something. If your drinking 64 oz. fluid, and then doing your daily shakes, that's to much water. Add in Soups too. All liquids add up. I checked that with my surgeon. I put a 1/2 gallon jug in the fridge every night. I use it for all my needs including drinking. When it's empty, I wash it out, and refill it for the next day. This way it's not a guessing game on how much liquid I took in today. Hope it helps. Shirley.

What causes a weight GAIN post-surgery?
It's a Temporary thing, so don't worry about it. When it comes off, you will see your weight loss too. I can't say how much between the two, but I think you will be happy. So give it a chance, and let it come out of your system.

Tomorrow is the "Big Day"
You 2 will be fine. Trust Me on that one ! sure you will be sore but it's not much with pain pills. You will both have new lives to start That's pretty cool when you think about it. I was asked that on my way to surgery "ARE YOU READY FOR A NEW LIFE?" I said YES ! I didn't even give it a thought, because I new down the Road, I would only get Healthier. So Good Health To You Both, Shirley.

swelling with fills
I agree with the previous post. Also we do 3 days liquid (NO EXCEPTION OR YOU COULD SWELL BACK UP.) 1 day mushies, and then try food. It seems to work for a lot of us at the clinic. Otherwise to tight. Give it a try the next time you get a fill.

Drinking while eating
Well,,, i have to ! I would only be able to eat 1 or 2 tsp. of something, and not be in pain "resembles a Heart Attack" I was told that I am too sensitive. So as long as I stay between 800-1200 calories a day, and don't go over... It's O.K.... I have to stick with what works, otherwise I would gladly do it the other way. Lord knows I have tried! So this works for me..

When you lose weight, do your feet shrink too?
I'll bet you do !     That's awesome. Shirley.

Can you tell me what size you wear??
For me,,, that's a hard one.. Your legs are not big so go see what size pants fit you, then the same with tops. I was 356 at one time I weigh 262 until weighed tomorrow, All of my Capri's are tie up so they are big, but still getting by in 22's. I need to break out some size 20 Jeans and see if they fit yet. So I don't know either. That's why I say, you really need to go and try some cloths on, and get a idea. I know I will for fall cloths. For now I will live in my Capri's Good Luck, Shirley
