Torture
I was on a 1200 calorie a day diet for 1 year before I was banded )INS. REQUIRED 1 YEAR SUPERVISED DIET !) That's what you call sucking ! A couple of weeks on liquid is not all that bad, I know I have done it, and I dam near ripped my surgeons head off telling him I was starving. As he chuckled. He told me to have a shake, sip on it, and you will see that it helps (NOT KILLS !) deaden your hunger. It did ! We were all put on Muscle Milk Light. To this day no matter what kind on WLS you have, your put on MML. So those of you that are starving, check with your Doc. Just don't eat anything.... When I did the 1 year diet, and he put me on a 2 week liquid diet to see if I could do it or not ( I ALREADY LOST ! 120Lbs.) So I said COME ON ! Give me a break ! He chuckled, and said O.K. you proved it with the weight loss, so stick to the same diet, and 3 days before surgery, you go to clear liquids. That's how it went.

I thought I would s p r e a d the Good News !
Wow ! Thanks ! All I know is I just keep trying, and I refuse to get hung up on a scale, So I don;t bother until it's time to get weighed at a Doc's office. Then I log it into my purse calendar, and adjust my Ticker with a smile. All I can say is IT WORKS! So go with what works for you......

October Bandsters!!!
I used Protein Shakes (thicker then usual) to help deaden my Hunger any time of the month. My husband use to drive a rig. He's retired now though.......... Anyway fresh fruits are nice to have, RTD Shakes are handy for this, Almonds, s f pudding cups, Whatever you can think of or look up thats higher in protein. Look in the cookie section and there is a type of cracker there that is flavored like Rye, Onion, Sour Dough. They are crunchy, but paper thin, and low in calories. You will have to read the names I think it was called Wasa Cracker.. Power Bars are nice to have, your Brain looks at them as a candy bar (sometimes) and you get your protein. I went to a Physical Rehab place, and a lot of places are renting out their Gym for so much a month I pay $30.00 a month for all I want in the Gym. Any days a week I use 3, any time of the day. You might look into that, and see what's available in your area. Even they need business. Work your schedule around it. Hope some of this helps. Shirley.

"If......Then....."
When I was at my Heaviest, 356 Lbs. I found myself wanting to stay home more, I didn't want to be bothered by other people, or have other people always looking at me like I was stupid for looking the way I was. I got that look enough, so I new what it looked like. As a result I turned to my house, and was O.K. in a way with that. This January I weighed myself, and I was 328. That's not far from the heaviest weight, so I said I will get my act together, because I have artificial knees, and if they wear out at this weight, they will not replace them. So I would be in serious trouble, and my Ortho specialist would kill me. This was another reason to lose weight. So,, it was time to put the plan of weight Loss into gear. My attitude changed after I lost 50 lbs... Why ? Because I could now see a difference. So I started walking around the block 3x a week. That made a big difference ! Eventually I went further in walking, but I took my time. I had to.... One day I was at a store, and a worker said Hello to me , I said hello, and was expecting that look again, and I didn't get it ! I knew then that the way I looked was at least except able in the public's eye. So now I would not feel that uncomfortable being out of the house, and out in the public. I was right. Now I hooked up at a physical Rehab and rent the place for $25.00 a month, and it's worth it. I do a hour on different machines, 45 minutes in the pool, then a hot oil massage. My weight comes of 1 Lb. at a time, and I love being out in the social life. What I'm saying is besides being able to relate a bit.. Once the weight starts coming of, (AND IT WILL...) Your life changes ! I can't say in what direction, but things start changing, and you will go with the flow because you can. So it just works, and things fall into place. With these surprises, happiness came into play. So you see,, it really is a day by day thing. Hope this makes some sense to you. Because this is the way it works for me. Shirley.

Not sure if this is a NSV or an insult
You are getting skinny ! I would take that as a compliment. As far as the other part of the statement. Just disregard it.

I thought I would s p r e a d the Good News !
Thank You Jachut ! I love this day for the kids, and for this Band. Ive hit my share of Bumps in the road, I'm sure you know. That includes 1 or 2 hiccups or a case of the hiccups. Its now been 5 years, and what I remember the most was a Nurse in the Hallway on the way to surgery said to me. 'WELL,,, ARE YOU READY FOR A NEW LIFE ?" I never gave it a thought, and "YESSSSS !" popped out. No regrets, even through the Bumps. Now onederland ! I haven't seen that since 18 yrs. old.. Almost 40 yrs. ago,,, that's a long time coming. But it will Happen.. One Pound at a time ! and I'll be there ! Shirley.

PLEASE HELP, over 1 month POST fill and suddenly sick....
I'm going threw the same thing. It's a pain I know, but I am going in for a unfill Thursday. I wish it was Tomorrow, but I have a 2 1/2 hr. drive each way, and I don't get paid till Thursday for Gas... I was told that I am to tight, and if you don't stay on Clear Liquids, this will only start up again... So let me know what they find, because this sucks. I got a fill about a month ago, and was tight ! I new it, but I also knew that the band will relax. I was in the Hospital for 3 days, and a Nurse shoved some crushed meds. down my throat... Well from that point on I have been puking, foaming, and you say your chest hurts. Well on the left side of my chest where the band is. It won't even open for Water. So I am looking forward to Thursday. But again let me know what they see.

Gaining weight...
It takes a few fills usually for that to happen... In the meantime its up to you, to count your calories, and stay on the diet that your Dr. gave you. If you don't have one,,, contact the Dietician for information. It's up to you to take control of this for now, and for your life. The band will help stop you from eating to much, but if you eat the wrong things ! Well that's not good either. Do you belong to myfitnesspal.com Its Free, and you can view what other people are eating, this helps ! Also record your calories, Protein, exercise, keep it in Memory etc... Its a good thing.. Hope this helps. Shirley

I thought I would s p r e a d the Good News !
The surgeon over filled me, but he thought he blew the band... After that he wouldn't touch me anymore. Then we were laid off so no ins... So I got Ins. last November, but I couldn't find a Dr. to touch DAMAGED GOODS.... This year I found a Dr. willing to take me on, and it was one of his students... He's a good Dr., and not such a pain in the @ss. I only needed a fill ! ! ! I could have been at GOAL years ago, but it slowed me down, so I'm picking up where I left off. Thanks for asking.
