  1. I no when I was banded "10/31/06" I felt the tightness of the band from the swelling. Next day had to do a swollow test to check for leaks. That was pretty hard going down, and some anxiety I think is normal. But today,,, I would do it all over again! I feel great!! So give it some time. "Gee,I feel like a veteran here!!!" Any way you go bandster... Shirley...
  2. Makemelean: I don't think you are really doing anything that bad. It sounds like it's time for a fill, if it is? Then that just might be your only problem.. Protien helps kill hunger, so keep that in mind. Does your Dr. have you on so many calories a day? Like 700-900. Keep track! It's important when it comes down to weight loss. Good Luck. Shirley
  3. Shalina: Shirley here again. Just enter it in your computer, and see what comes up? can't hurt!! Also do yo have Carnation Instant Breakfast over there CIB? If you do pick some up,add it to low fat milk, or soy milk; add up the protien, and calories. Good Luck! Shirley..
  4. Now there is food for thought!!! The 18 yr. old girl that I new,, well if she seen what I have been through my whole life.. She would be shocked to see me still alive..{major medical problems} On the flip side of that coin,, she no's I won't go down in the fight. That's why I am still here today. Should have died by 18 or 21 the Dr.'s say. I'm 52 now, and here to prove them wrong. "YES!" Besides that girl who new me, also would no, she is for ever cool. She's married 30 yrs. "yes to the same man" "I get that a lot!" Adopted 2 sons grown n moved on, and has 2 grand sons, and works. I think she did all right. Shirley
  5. Shalina: It all rings a bell to me! Banded 10/31/06. La madam is totally wright! You need protien shakes!! It curbs your appetite, and it helps you heal. I still am doing the shakes for those reasons, not to mention your protien is a life long thing... Try "Muscle Milk Light" Go on ebay and enter it in. You can pick up some great stuff, sometimes cheap. Read the food gide, and look at your calories, and protien. This stuff really works; I no I use it. My Dietician recomended it, and it tastes great. So take a look at it, get back if you want, but do get on the protien shakes. Shirley.. Also, I went to cream Soups, and a chunkier soup within a cople of days. Make sure you chew, chew, chew. and get those shakes in, it will help. Most important!!! Ask your Dr.....
  6. Loriha: Welcome to a bunch of loosers! Youre gonna like this site. Lots of info, and great people. There all old loosere, or new loosers like me. I try to come on once a day to see what's new. Congradulations on your date with Destiney! Your'e gonna love this. I no I do, Shirley.

  11. Try counting calories. it works! I lost 125 lbs. before surgery, at1200 a day. Post Op, I am between 700-900. Think about your band, don't do pills. Get back if you want sstasevich@wowway.com or give me your phone# if you want, I will try to help!!!! shirley
  12. Sorry to hear about your Knee, but, been there, done it... It's a real drag! I shot both my knees doing aerobics. Your knees are like shocks. Sometimes after a while they were out like mine did. Hopefully you are not in the same boat. I'm no Dr., but this is what I've done to get by and it works. I do the OSTEO-BI-FLEX. about 3 a day. "it can take a couple of weeks before it really kicks in" I also drink Muscle Milk, if you have a tear in your tissues anywear Muscle Milk starts to go to that area, and it will try to repair the area. I no it sounds nuts, It's the best kept secret out ther untill now! Protien is 25g, calories195 per 8 ounce shake.T hat's in the "Light". So in case you didn't realise it, it is great for us Bandsters. The thing about the Milk, it actually is very good for you. Go on ebay and type in muscle milk light, and watch it come up. It's delecious to, and a lot of flavors. It's a powder, and you mix it with water. good luck with the knee. get back if you have to. Shirley.. P.S. On my post op visit, I had a knee x rayed. They have been talking replacement on these knees for a couple of years now. So I no they soon will replace tha right one. And I still get around because I take what I said, if not I would be in a chair..
  13. This is gonna be easy: Muscle Milk Light comes in a Powder form, usualll 1.65 lb jug. You mix 2 scoopes with 8 oz. water for a shake, or, 4 oz and refridgerate for a pudding. It's high in protein, low in calories, and the taste is great. They have a lot of different flavors to. Go on ebay and look it up. Muscle Milk "regular" is also for sale, it's great in taste, 32g protein, 348 in calories. So, almost twice the amount of calories, for a difference of 5g of protien. I have got some flavors in the original, and I will use them periodically untill they are done., but the light is the way to go.... Shirley sstasevich@wowway.com
  14. Are you doing Protein drinks? Have you ever heard of Muscle Milk Light? go to ebay enter muscle milk light, and watch it come up. I no it looks expensive, it's not compared to G.N.C.! and this stuff tastes great.. It's Lactose free 25g protien, 195 in calories to make a 8 ounce shake, or 4 once pudding. You are gonna need all the protien you can get for healing to. So do yourself a favor and treat yourself. I do to two every day. Shirley.... Get back if you want...
  15. I was banded on Halloween. I ate a little today, but, it's not woryh the headache. All the cooking, dishes, no one to help. I'd rather go out, and have some tea. The rest of those people pigging out, well,, that's there problem! soon you will be glad it's not yours. For gas call your Dr.! Mine said pepcid a.c complete. It works. The day is almost over, try to sit back and enjoy the rest. If you are doing protien shakes, have one. I'm only 22 days into this, so, trust me,, life will go on. It gets a little better every other day. Shirley... wright if you want.
  16. Well for starts, your band isn't filled, mine either so were both in the same boat. Are you doing protien shakes, sugar free puddings on the side "if you are hungry" Try some creamy soups, it might help. Protien really helps my appetite. Don't feed yourself because you think youre hungry.. waite about 1 hr. if the hunger should dissapear, then you no it's in your head. "as they tell me!" If you are still hungry have a little something. just eanough to take the edge off. get back.
  17. Hi Oakie!! Shirley here, I'll touch on some things. First of all I had my Date with a Band on 10/31/06. You got it Halloween. So I am 21 days post op. So,, since it's all new to me to, I can share what I no.... Get a good protien Drink. I go on ebay and buy the Muscle Milk Light. I no it looks expensive,,, but, if you compare it to the health stores!! Your gonna get a buy. 25g of protien vs. 195 in calories is great, and it's delicious. I use that and C.I.B. but by the time you get done fooling around , addind calories to the C.I.B.,, well you could be looking at about the same in calories,, but 10-12 in protien. You really need the protien for healing to. I am suppose to take in 80g of protien a day, and try to stay between 700-900 calories a day. That's easy with the M.M.L., that's why I mention it. Stock up on sugar free puddings. They come in handy only 60 or 70 calories. They are great if you have to crunch meds. Mix them on top only, eat the pills "yuk!" then you can treat yourself to the remainder of the pudding. Get some cream of soups so you don't get to hungry, last take it slow. It took a while to get this way, It's gonna take a while for it to change. Get back if you want.. "I have been born again, and this time, I will be a whole lot thinner!" Shirley. sstasevich@woww
  18. Listen Lady: A very big hug for you, because you have done a wonderful thing. I no I was Banded 10/31/06 not long ago. I just love it; but get your protien in, that's very important. Try Muscle Milk it helps you heel also. Tastes Great, and works. enter it on ebay, and watch it come up. If you want more info get back to me, and I will share what I no. Shirley.
  19. Sue: Hi my name is Shirley, I too am from S.C.S.. I went to Henry Fords. They really got the handle on all these surgeries. If you are haveing second thoughts, or problems I would call the Bariatric Surgery center in Detroit and get a second opinion. Especially if you are not sattisfied. I had hernia repair, scar tissue removal, Lymph Nodes removed, "whew" then the lap band on 10/31/06. All at one time! First 24 hrs were hard, but it's getting much better now. Surgeon was Jeffrey Genaw. Read about him on line if you want. All I can say is there whole team was great to me. Shirley...
  20. I crush the big ones, and mix it in some pudding. "like on the top." then the rest is not bad because it's sugar free pudding. Remember that! Small pills I take 1 at a time, and sip it down with some tea. See if any of this works for you, it's a thought! I was Banded on 10/31/06 Shirley.... Fenry Ford Hospital Dr. Jeffrey Genaw was 356 - 10/05 before the band 10/06 231# now with the band in place! we will see., time will tell... Get back if you like.
  21. I just got Banded on Halloween at Henry Ford Hospital. My name is Shirley. Protien is the key healing factor for those tissues. This stuff is called Muscle Milk. It promotes healing, gives you youre protien that you need, and it helps burn fat. "It really works!" You can go to G.N.C. and they are like $49.00 a jug. "it's expensive stuff, but it works" or go on ebay and type in muscle milk and watch it come up. Now read all the adds, and you will come upon a guy that sells 4 jugs, any flavor that he has for about $59.00 plus shipping. His add will also read cheapest on ebay or internet.I'm in S.C.S. and trust me I am a returning customer. You will need between 60-80 g of Protien a day. 80 if you are healing any new tissue. like I am.They told me clear fluids for 1 day, then soups, jello's,and Muscle Milk. Get Back Shirley.....
