I'm Confused, scared and fascinated
I would first, go to the seminar, and see if you like that you hear. My first seminar (By-pass) I went to years ago scared me away and I decided not to go through anymore of the process. (That was before lapband was popular). I went on Atkins to give it one more try to see if I could do it on my own. I was successful for awhile but went back to my old ways. But I was glad I gave myself one more time to try. I don't think you will find many people on here that aren't thankful for their bands. I wish I would have known about the band sooner. As far as emotional eating, I think everyone is an emotional eater to one degree or another. It's just something you learn to work with when you have the band. Do your research here on the site and keep asking questions. You will be fine!

To fill or not to fill, that is the question?
Your kind of a mystery, do you stop drinking 30-60 before a meal and not drink again for 60mins after your meal? And what are you drinking to make you so full? Are you sipping or gulping? Although everyone is different here, most are ready for their fill when the doctor makes the appt. but my Dr. has also said that he has had successful patients who never get a fill and that the band itself is restriction enough. You should have lost more than 1 pound since surgery, have you kept track of the inches you are losing??? Fills are not scaring and you don't leave the office until you have swallowed liquid in front of the doctor or nurse. You won't be sent out of there not being able to drink or eat I promise. You may find after your first fill that pounds will stop dropping for you better..!!! Hope this helps?!

WEIRD-Please let me know if this happened to you
its like this real thick mucus that comes up in your throat. its usually followed by a PB (productive burp) but in my case it wasn't. not scary, just gross!

WEIRD-Please let me know if this happened to you
exact same thing happened to me, I left for vacation right after my second fill. The first 2 days of the trip I was feeling no restriction at ALL. On day 3 had a couple of small bites of my fiance's hamburger (It had to be done, it was from a childhood drive-in I used to go to when I was little). Any ways, I thought I was fine until about 3 mins later I was overcome with fullness and SLIME! It was terrible, I had to keep stopping to spit! AG... I remember thinking how odd it was that on day 3 I am just now getting restriction?!?! Well moral of the story is, I have lost 10 pounds since my 2nd fill 3 weeks ago, and its still coming off...Learned my lesson big time.. No more eating that nasty food!

Pain where band is!!!
you may have flipped or displaced your port I am 2 months out and still take it very easy on my abs. I am afraid of injuring my port!

Anyone have the Realize Band?
I had my 13cc band put in June 5th, and I am very happy with it, no complications so far that have been the bands fault!! My port sight is still slightly tender, but due to the fact that I have to sit in uniform pants for 12hrs a day without much get up and out time...I think you will be very happy!

Apple juice
Ya, the only juice I couldnt have was citrus juice, it does say to half dilute your juice with water tho, cuts down on the sugar intake... I like juicy juice apple....!!

Will it be different after my first fill?
Riley, Thanks for your words, very encouraging!

Will it be different after my first fill?
make sure to follow the guidelines on what you are eating post-op even if you can eat something doesnt mean you should unless its on your list...and tell yourself this...... any weight you lose, is weight that you will never see again, I'd rather just lose 2lbs and know its never coming back than 20 that will come back 10fold!!!!!!

Will it be different after my first fill?
I had my first fill tuesday...Nothing has changed for me. Looking forward to my next fill in 2 weeks, that will put about 5cc's in my band. The only thing that keeps me motivated is that I can get satisfied on just a 1/2 cup of food, but I don't just eat anything, it is mostly protein. But my Dr. paperwork says at this point I should be getting full on 2oz's!!! There is no-way that would work for me right now, so I will stick to my fill schedule and hope at some point I get to feeling like I thought I would when I first started all of this!

How do you make a 4 oz meal last 30 mins!...lol
I am the same way. I have actually timed myself, even with no restriction I still chew/chew/chew and at a maximum take 20mins, but I figure the 30min rule is really for people who are a couple of fills ahead of me, so I keep doing what I am doing, stop when I am full and enjoy my dinner.

I need some help ..
I find the "SHARE IDEAS, What did you eat today" Thread to be very helpful as far as what everyone is eating... Try that, or get back with your nutritionist and ask them to give you a refresher, maybe they can map out a menu plan for you if you are struggling...?

First Post-op visit
I was banded June 5th, so 11 days, it all depends on how your incisions look, mine are all clear and good to go, so he said I can get back to the pool!

First Post-op visit
Dr. very impressed with my progress, says I am doing all the right things, and is happy enough with my weight loss to hold off my 1st fill for another 3 weeks. Great news was he released me to go back to aqua-aerobics yayaa!!! Although I am not losing weight post op as much as I thought I would, I know that I will never weigh this weight again, so every pound off is a pound off forever! Looking forward to a lot of good things this year!

Post-Op Day 10
permalink Im day 10 post-op, feeling great... im on the thick liquids portion of the post-op diet til thur, then I get to start cream of wheat and stuff like that. I can have creamed soups that have been strained, and have been living off of cream of potato and cream of chick soup and my protein drinks. I did get out with my fiance for a 1.5 mile walk... over did it totally, had to rush home for an emergency bathroom visit! I think this is about the point where the free ride of losing weight without exercise is over for me, gotta get my tail moving. I took 6 weeks off from work, so my only job is to make sure I do the maximum I can to get the best results before going back to work. Everyone knows I have had this procedure, so I am sure they will be evaluating my success (you know how women are!). Have my follow up tomorro afternoon, so looking forward to getting released to get back to my aqua-aerobics classes!!!!

Post-OP days 6-8
Well so far so good, nothing new to report! Just transitioned over from clear liquids to thick liquids on Fri, which means I can have a little cream of ? soup thats been put through a strainer. and milk. I did learn one valuable lesson though! Don't drink milk for the first time in weeks and then run out the door for errands! Had to do a bathroom tour of east Knoxville and it was not always pretty! I am down 20.4 pounds (7 was pre-op) and very happy, trying to meet a mini-goal of 37 more by the end of Sept for my wedding. Not so much a vanity thing, but a physical thing. My Fiance and I are going on a 10day tour of Europe and I want to be able to keep up with him! When deciding to get my band this far into it I actually questioned wheter I should do it now, or wait til after the honeymoon so I could sample all the worldly food they had to offer. I decided I would rather be able to walk thru Paris than eat thru it, so I went ahead and had it done... I think I made the right choice!!!
