I miss food--but not because I am hunrgy!
There is a difference between physical and mental hunger. The band is a tool, so use it wisely.

Am i just not getting it???
It could be that you're not chewing enough, but my guess is you're overfilled. Go on a liquid diet for 24 hours and then drink some water... does it go down? If you have a hard time getting it down, you're definitly overfilled. You need to contact your doctor, not ask the people on this website because it sounds like you're on the road ot being malnourished.

Milk
Just regular skim milk... maybe Nesquick chocolate milk as a treat.

Lap Band Billboards...
I don't think it's doing a good job of "getting the word out," actually. I think it's misleading and discredits the people who have the band and are serious about it. It shows some woman on a scale with a quizzical look on her face like, "OMG I gained 4 pounds... how did this happen?" So, naturally, her plan is to lose 50 pounds is to get the band. Seriously... how much weight did you/ are you planning to lose? I'm guessing it was over 50. The website says, "for those who want to lose 100+ pounds." It's redicilous and I think cheapens the wonderfulness of the band. Yes, the band is wonderfully helpful and an amazing tool, but I don't like the way it's being portrayed here.

Lap Band Billboards...
I live in So Cal and I see these Lap Band Billboards ALL over the place that say, "Want to lose 50 pounds or more? Get the band!" It's SO cheesy and cheap looking! It makes the band look like this stupid thin-quick scheme. The Lap Band website obviously says, "for people who want to lose 100+ lbs." I can't believe this!

Do you *REALLY* want to know what the band is like????
What are some more complaints we have??? ... oh, I have one... I don't huff and puff and take three years to walk from my car to wherever I want to go, so I'm always early and can never get timing right when I need to go somewhere... gosh.

Any one else starving ?
I think you should STOP EATING SOLID FOODS!!! The post op diet sucks, yes... but you have to remember that the band is not a cure for an eating problem, it's a tool to help you and right now, your tool is working at 10%. You need a fill, of course, to get the REAL difference. With that being said, the post-op diet aint' for nothin', hon. You can seriously damage your band and your stomach if you don't follow the post op diet. You will be able to eat food just fine, but your stomach is healing... it just underwent a MAJOR change and needs time to adjust. You eating liquids, then semi-solids *is* that time it needs. Stop eating solids. Do you really want your whole surgery to be for nothing RIGHT BEFORE you get a fill and start seeing real results???

Question About Alcohol
I get drunk WAY faster... I think the alchol is absorbed faster into the system now. Two drinks and I'm out like a light. Not good to drink a lot though, because mixed drinks have a lot of cals.

Do you *REALLY* want to know what the band is like????
I had my band almost a year ago and I have lost around 90 pounds. It's a great feeling. NO food ever tasted as good as being this pretty feels. Please, don't wait another moment because I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Through the port pain and the vomiting, I have never once regretted it. I do have a few complaints, though: 1. Clothes I don't have any that fit. Twelve months ago, "my clothes don't fit" would have meant they were hugging me in all the wrong spots. Now I mean all my clothes are too big. My mom calls me "parachute pants" and it does not hurt my feelings. I have to spend hours upon hours shopping for new clothes in the mall. Since, now, I feel better about myself, I have to spend an additional half hour at the nail salon and hour at the hair dresser. How great! what is my complaint you ask? Well, I'm spending tons of money on clothse that are too loose next week. Sigh... 2. Reinforcement I can't go anywhere these days without running into someone I know and them commenting on my appearance. "Wow! You look so much different!"... "How did you do it??"... "You look amazing!!"... that's just the beginning! Don't even get me started on the male attention!!! How great!! what is my complaint you ask? Well, all anyone wants to talk about it me and I like that a lot, but people only love me for my looks now! Sigh... 3. Mind I used to think every time I went out that people were staring at me because I was so fat. Now I live a normal life. It's so nice. Before the lap band, I spent my down time thinking abut my next meal. I don't do that any more because I'm not obsessed with food. Now I get to read great books, watch cool movies and do so much more stuff... what is my complaint you ask? Well, now I have an occupied mind and sometimes I forget to eat! Sigh... 4. Money A Lean Cuisene is a feast for me. Because of this, I have saved so much money. The month before I got the band, I spend $76.22 on fast food alone (pizza, tacos, fries, burritos, etc.)... and now I HAVE that money for myself! I spend this money on clothes that are from normal stores, bras from Victoria's Secret and getting my hair done... for me. (I can't begin to even think of all the time I wasted eating, too!)... what is my complaint you ask? Well, I'm spending more money than I can make because I'm so pretty I want to adorn myself... sigh... 5. Medications. I know a lot of you gals out there are on a lot of medications and are looking forward to getting the band to get rid of them. Well, I have some bad news. Since I got the band, I actually had to ADD a medication... well, that medication is birth control, but, you know... pills are pills. what is my complaint you ask? Well, that's a pill EVERY DAY! Sigh... So, there you go. Just do it...

Did you stay overnight?
I had to stay over night and it was MISERABLE. If you have any choice, don't stay overnight. I got zero sleep; it was just so bad. AFter I went home the next morning, I wasn't in much pain (I call the Lap Band a "nothing surgery" because there is so little pain and the revocery time is so short). I wouldn't reccomend driving, though, because it wouldn't be safe. If you forget everything else, don't forget a pillow to put between you and the seatbelt. I forgot mine and it was painful (but I would NEVER not wear my seatbelt)... so, there it is...

Why did my feet get smaller?
Okay, I've lost a lot of weight, and I went from a size 11 shoe to a 9. What the heck? Anyone else experience this? WHY?!?!? Did I lose feet fat?
-
Too tight= no weight loss?
Wow... I was banded 10 months ago and I've lost more than twice that amount, so something is definitly wrong if you have fills. What do you eat on a daily basis? The band is not a cure all, there is some diet involved and it sounds like you're not eating the right foods... if you were, the weight would be off.

Gettin Banded 2moro 16/01/2008
I didn't have a pre-op diet (be jealous... lol)... Anyway, as far as banding, it's a nothing surgery... you're in and out with just a little pain, so don't be scared at all. The 2 month liquid diet is pretty brutal, but you HAVE to do it, so there really isn't a choice. The weight coming off... now that's the BEST part.

EKG Problems??
My mom came back with an abnormal EKG and they cancelled her surgery.

Question about hunger pains.

Okay, well, I'm almost done losing all my weight... I lost 65 and I look and feel great. Here's the thing. I've let all the saline leak out of my band (I don't need it, the band is PLENTY of restriction for me... I'm one of the lucky few)... not a lot gets stuck, and I can't eat a lot in one sitting, either. It's nice.... like... ...I can't eat bread, pasta, carrots or... ummm... well, when my fiancee and I are... physical... orally... and I... swallow... it gets stuck a little bit and I have to drink pineapple juice afterwards and work through it. What the heck is this?? It's freaking weird and a little gross! (by the way... just so no one thinks I'm a slut... that's as far as I go until we're married, so, I'm not that bad.) Don't judge, just tell me if it's ever happened to you and/or what the heck??!?

Tell Me the Bad Stuff
I'm not going to lie, the sticking food and the puking isn't fun. The rest is, though! Puking aside... it's totally worth it. I would do it again in a New York minute.
