Conversion from sleeve to bypass
tinyforks replied to Georgetown's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had the VSG in 12/23. I chose the VSG over the bypass due to wanting to have children and fearing malnutrition during pregnancy. I had a hh that they didn't tell me about and didn't repair during the surgery (no clue why). I've had GERD since the surgery (never had it prior), so we decided to try doing a hh repair to see if that would help. I had the repair done about a month ago and the GERD is coming back with a vengeance. I think I will need to convert to a bypass, but I want to wait until after having children (hopefully soon!). Major bummer, but I still don't regret doing the VSG. -

A Thread Dedicated to Cottage Cheese 😂😂 Omg😅
tinyforks replied to Mspretty86's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I hated cottage cheese before and was so grossed out by it. Now I love blending it with eggs to make a high protein omelette. I also add it to a bunch of sauces. Still trying to explore new recipes. -
Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

Yes! I accidentally dropped my phone into the water when I was getting a pedicure because I set my phone down in my "lap"...and the lap was a gap 😂 -

I currently take 20 mg of Omeprazole once daily. This is down from the original 40. It seems to be controlling things as long as I take it every day. Thank you so much for the info!

I am on 20 mg Omeprazole daily. I was prescribed 20 mg Famotodine, but it isn't working. I am relieved to hear your surgeon is okay with a low dose. At my 6 month, my surgeon's office wanted me to get off of Omeprazole, but my PCP wanted to keep me on as long as the reflux is happening (for fear of ulcers, cancer, etc.). I was hoping the reflux would have gone away by now, so I am just trying to prepare myself for my 1 year check up and to hear what my options are. Thank you for sharing the info with me.

I'm 9 months PO and I am having some reflux issues. I am trying to figure out how serious they are and what my next steps should be. The pain doesn't sound as intense as what you've been through, but I can really only keep it from happening with taking a PPI. My PCP advised me against taking PPIs this long, but I have been unsuccessful in weaning myself off of them. I really don't want to have a revision if I can help it, but I also know I can't be on PPIs forever.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

Can you tell me more about your symptoms? What did the gastritis and esophagitis feel like? How long did it take you to develop polyps and how did you know? Thank you so much in advance!

I love this story! Yes, it's funny how "off" my eyes can be sometimes. Just yesterday I was shocked when I fit into new pants that looked WAY too small. This is such a fun process, especially since for so long it was the other way around (not fitting into clothes that looked huge).

That's so amazing! Congratulations!!!

This makes SO much sense. Thank you for taking the time to explain it!
