My name is Carrie, I am 32 years old. I am married to to a Wonderful Man that has truley been my best friend and my rock through this. Our 1 year is coming up on Wednesday but have been together for 6 years. We have three boys, 13, 11 and 6. I have ALWAYS been overweight, kinda tha runt of the family and I am ready to start MY New Life. I think Cappy said it the best " I've spent way too many years miserable, sweaty and cranky..basically, I'm just uncomfortable in my own skin. I want to get healthly for myself, for my kids and for my marriage" I wish everyone the best through out this journey! Ps. Surgery date: Nov 14th - Dr. Martinez - OCC Highest Weight: 260lbs Preop diet weight: I need to start! ok I am starting-258 Surgery weight: ? Current : 258lbs Goal : 145lbs ok..I just edited this. The more I have thought about it, the more excited I have gotten. I am starting Pre-Op tomorrow!

Hi I am getting my band on November 14th in TJ Mexico by Dr. Martinez and I was wondering if anyone else was going to be there on this date?

How big is your band and how much do you have in it?

Hi, I getting my band on Nov 14th at the OCC. Dr. Ortiz was going to do my surgery, but he is unable to be there that day, so Dr. Martinez will be performing the surgery. I have research for about 2 months and the only thing that I have heard "bad" about Dr. O is that he a Mr. know it all and short to the point. Well that was just fine with me. I was glad that I had chosen a doctor that was a Mr. Know it all...lol.... Anyway good luck on your choice and keeps us posted. Would love to hear about your journey before I go in November. ~Carrie~

Hi Flordia Pete...I am not banded yet either but my surgery date is Nov 14th. I knew I was ready when the words came out of my mouth, no second thoughts and I dont think anyone could talk me out of this. My husband does not want me to do this (scared something is going to happen) and My sister wanted me to wait until March 09 so that she it would be better on her schedule to go with me. Well I was going to wait, but the more I waited the more I was NOT going to wait. I told her that I was going in November with or without her, guess what, she decided November would be ok. SOOOOO plantickets was bought that day and surgery was set. Since then (which has been about a month ago) my mind is set so strong on this. I am 31 and have smoked since I was 16. I stopped smoking cold turkey. This "want" has given me sooo much hope and I am sooooo ready to stop letting Food control my life! I am ready to be able to walk in a store and buy cloths and not go to a store and have to find a "fluffy section" just to buy a shirt...I want to love me NOW!..

Hi just wanted to say Hi and I am sooo excited. I booked my airline tickets today and I am getting banded Nov 14th will Dr. Ortiz. Would LOVE to join the November Bandsters. HI..Just a little bit about myself.. My insurance will not pay as well. I have been researching and researching. I have choosen to have surgery in Mexico with Dr. Ortiz. My schedule date is Nov 14th. I have asked and asked on this board about Mexico and about the Doctors. I made my decision due to the fact that I found out that Dr. Ortiz is a teaching doctor and the doctor that I have chose to use after my surgery in the United States, was proctored by Dr. Ortiz. Carolyn that works for Dr. Ortiz is wonderful and she will answer any and all (trust me, I think I have emailed her 10 million times)of your questions. ....Good Luck with your choice....

Thank everyone for all the informatoin, good and bad. I think alot of peoples concern is the aftercare. I have found a Doctor that was actually proctored by Dr. Ortiz for my Aftercare doctor and her office seems wonderful ~ She highly recommends Dr. Ortiz if you are going to go to Mexico. I will pass the information on to my sister...Again thanks ~

Thanks for the advice.....I have been on this sight for three weeks now researching and this is the first that I have heard Negative about Mexico...I am a little shocked but appreciate the information.

I am getting banded in November and I think I have told everyone that I know. I am sooooo excited. It is your choice and it depends if you think they will be supportive.

Thanks for the advice. I have been told by a doctor that if I have the surgery on Friday. I could return to work on monday, but not so sure about that. I am an office administrator (very demanding and stressfull). I have 14 steps to climb several times a day due to my office being up stairs. This will help me make my decision.

I am going to get banded in November but not sure which doctor to use. I have been doing alot of research on Ortiz, but have a friend that has used Joya. She says he is great and was banded almost one year ago. The more I read, talk to people, etc...I am leaning more and more on Ortiz....

Wow finally someone who has used Dr. Joya. I have been trying to find someone for 3 days. I am planning on going in November to be banded, I might even have to go by myself and I am very SCARED! Please tell me everthing about your expierence with Dr. Joya, My mom is not to big on the Idea and I would love to be able to tell her. Also were you ok to drive back home? I would have a 2 hours trip home?:tt2:
