  1. Hello, those who have traveled with your C-Pap; Have you needed a doctor's statement to get through security to take on the plane? Thanks for your answers.

  4. congrats on getting your band-date!!!
  5. Wow! What an awesome job on putting all of that together! There are soooo many of us for the month of October! Have a great day!
  6. Oh, I feel for you... but just think how bad you REALLY WANT to be HEALTHY, IN THE BEST SHAPE OF YOUR LIFE... ABLE TO FIT INTO AN AWESOME PAIR OF JEANS! Please hang in there... go and look at a bunch of before & afters. Go the my space forum and I'll bet you'll see plenty of before and afters. There is also that website where you can put in your actual weight/height vs. your desired weight/height ..... try on clothes & such. Oh yeah.. it's 'myvirtual' something...
  7. GOOD LUCK! And the Very Best of Health to you on new journey!! Mine will also be a four hour drive away. You'll be just fine!
  8. Thanks so much for all of that info! My husband used to live and work in Detroit. He actually worked at the VA hospital there. We both work for the VA in Chicago. Anyway, we are planning to fly in a day ahead and book a hotel somewhere familiar. They told me I'd have one overnight stay at Harper. Glad you sailed on through. What sort of meds did you have to get filled? Were they pain meds? Thanks!!
  9. CONGRATS ON BEING BANDED!!:bolt: Here's to the best healing for you...
  10. CONGRATS TO YOU!!! :bolt: TIME TO START YOUR COUNTDOWN!:tt1:
  11. Hello!! I'm still checking to see if anyone has been banded at Harper Hospital by Great Lakes Weight Loss team? I've scheduled my band date of 10/7/08 and am so ready to get there to get it done. I'm coming in from Chicago.
  12. I am scheduled in Detroit MI (4 hrs from me) with Great Lakes Weight Loss at Harper Hospital and it an overnight stay. I'm self-pay. Glad to have the overnight stay, but I've had enough surgery's to know that I'd do fine even if I had to go home same day. My husband will drive me the 4 hours, but he has many relatives there and we're looking into flying out to give him more time to visit and to give my belly a rest after surgery.... bumps for 4 hrs might not be fun! Even with a colonscopy, you aren't allowed to drive yourself home - it's much better to have a driver. At one of the weight loss centers in Chicago, they offer a limo ride home and I thought that was very nice jesture. I'm hoping you can look into spending a few extra $$ on a cab, friend, co-worker or even a limo. It will be much safer for you. Good luck.
  13. Kurvaesious, where did you go in Detroit? I am scheduled in Detroit MI (4 hrs from me) with Great Lakes Weight Loss at Harper Hospital.
  14. I was all set to go to Dr. K in Colorado until I started having a problem finding a local fill doctor. I cancelled that and signed up to have it here in Chicago by Dr. Cahill for $16,200 - financing fell through. Now, I'm all set with different financing - am scheduled 4 hrs away at Harper Hospital in Detroit, MI for $10,700.
  15. $10,700 Harper Hospital Detroit, MI
  16. Wow!! :lol:Look at all of these October Bandsters/Smashing Pumpkins! I cannot wait! My date has changed to 10/7 - I had to change facilities, but I can handle that!! CONGRATS TO ALL OF US WHO ARE ON OUR WAY TO THE LOSERS BENCH!!!
  17. Did you try CareCredit? You can apply online and they have very low interest rates. I use them for all of my dental care and have been approved for additional funds for lapband - just not enough to cover. They have an easy acceptance (within minutes). I too am now thinking of waiting until 1st of the year. I need to change insurance to one that would cover me without having 5 yr over 40 BMI, supervised diet, etc. I really want it now.... not next year!! Best of luck to you!
  18. I agree, the office staff at ColoradoRockies is awesome and absolutely patient! I was originally scheduled there for 10/29 - had to cancel when I couldn't find local fills and couldn't honestly commit myself to going back & forth for fills. Once you speak with his coordinator, you'll be convinced you are at the right place. There is even a whole group of folks on these forums who to to him and return for all fills. Good Luck & Continued Success to You!
  19. CONGRATS TO EACH OF YOU! YOU MUST BE SOOOO EXCITED:biggrin:... CAN'T WAIT TIL I CAN SAY THE VERY SAME! Good Luck & Continued Success to each of You!
  20. Well, I was all set to go... approved by Dr. Cahill & approved for my loan. I was all set to start my liquid diet this Friday & have surgery on Oct. 2nd. Received a late email from the loan specialist and there was a small problem with my loan that I won't be able to rectify very soon. Not sure why they didn't explain all of this to me sooner... but, here I go - I'm back on a roller coaster. The more I think about, I might really wait and change health insurance again this year. I keep changing and running into road blocks. If things don't work out with this loan - I am going to read each and every Federal Employee Health Benefit plan that comes out in November! This time, I hope I can spot one that will cover me for this surgery without needing to jump through the hoops of the insurance game. Continued to success to all of you!!
  21. I have found every facility I've dealt with to have a different policy on the pre-op diet. All have had the same post-op. One place was going to have me do 1 wk. Atkins style diet to shrink my liver; another told me I'd do a full two week liquids w/2 slim fast or other protein drinks; the next says depending on your BMI, you'd do 1 or 2 wks liquids. I too would do exactly as told by the individual center. Good Luck
  22. It is my sincere prayer that there is NO slip. Be well, you & your DH.
  23. Of course I'm set with Dr. K in Colorado - but, I called all day Thurs & Fri - was unsuccesful in getting someone to accept me for local fills. fillcentersusa is not local for me. So... today, I begin considering going local and paying more. So, I'm posting messages in different areas to asking for prices locally (Chicagoland/Indiana). I do have 4 prices here so far. Actually found a couple good prices - just need to know if they will accept my current financing option which is all set and ready. RightWeigh Bariatric in Kentucky charges $12,500 - they also have a location in Indiana - I will call in the morning to see what they charge (hoping its so close to this). Lifeway Bariatrics in Downers Grove & Merriville, IN charge $15,500. Synchronyhealth: $16,000 Midwestbariatrics: $16,211 If any of the lower ones accept my financing and can band me sooner, I'm going to make the switch ASAP to free up that 10/30 date at Dr. K's office.
  24. Hmm.. I've gotta pick up that issue for sure. I remember seeing something about getting ready to go healthy about a year ago. More power to her and I hope she keeps it off. I have so many before & after and after & before pics that I'm just tired. I know all of the diets and exactly how to do them like the diet-pro that I am. But... I need this lapband to help me to make a total lifestyle change. I just know it! Good luck on your appointment!!
