  1. Hi all - this is repost from the financing forum. I was hoping to get your input on this as well if anyone is from Chicago area/Indiana...please chime in. ---------------------------- Of course I'm set with Dr. K in Colorado - but, I called all day Thurs & Fri - was unsuccesful in getting someone to accept me for local fills. fillcentersusa is not local for me. So... today, I begin considering going local and paying more. So, I'm posting messages to asking for prices locally (Chicagoland/Indiana). I do have 4 prices here so far. Actually found a couple good prices - just need to know if they will accept my current financing option which is all set and ready. RightWeigh Bariatric in Kentucky charges $12,500 - they also have a location in Indiana - I will call in the morning to see what they charge (hoping its so close to this). Lifeway Bariatrics in Downers Grove & Merriville, IN charge $15,500. Synchronyhealth: $16,000 Midwestbariatrics: $16,211 If any of the lower ones accept my financing and can band me sooner, I'm going to make the switch ASAP to free up that 10/30 date at Dr. K's office.

  3. Yes, pre-op is included with 3 months of fills - $15 fills after 3 months. Thing is, I'll travel back to Colorado for my fills or, TRY to find someone to them locally. So far - no luck with that. So... this weekend, I'm really considering going local and paying more. I cannot NOT do this. This is just not an option. So, I'm getting ready to post a couple of more messages asking for prices locally. I do have 4 prices here so far. Actually found a couple good prices - just need to know if they will accept my financing option that I already have set up. RightWeigh Bariatric in Indiana charges $12,500 (oops, this is the cost in the KY center of RightWeigh) Lifeway Bariatrics in Downers Grove & Merriville, IN charge $15,500. Methodist Weight Loss Center in Peoria (2 1/2 hrs away from me) $12,000 If these places accept my financing and can do it sooner, I'm going to make the switch this week.
  4. I am hoping that you are feeling much better very soon. How long do you plan to be off from work? --------------- I'm all set with Dr. K in Colorado - but, today I have been searching websites trying to get local prices and to get banded even sooner. I appreciate your info. Get Well Very Soon!!
  5. Thank you for the suggestion, I've tried their website - they do not have a local office.
  6. Cassy... Congrats on your Sept. 24th Date!!!
  7. Thanks for the info & CONGRATS on being Banded!! How are you doing today? Also, since you were self-pay... was it a quick process? How long did you have to wait for a date, etc.
  8. Here's a link to what is included: Columbia Bariatric Associates
  9. When I first went to see a bariatric/weight loss doc early last year - after our conversation, he suggested a sleep study because I was always exhausted and fall asleep easily no matter where. Yep, sleep apnea - so, I was prescribed a CPAP machine. Ugly, but it gives you a better nights sleep. I've been terrible about wearing it - but, it's a serious illness. Both my sisters have it and only one wears hers everynight. She raves about how well it helps her sleep. Mine is going in this week for recalabration and a new mask... I am committed to doing better, because its needed. You'll be fine, just follow the instructions. Plus, I read that we are hindering our weight loss efforts by not wearing our machine. Your weight will probably begin melting after you get adjusted to it. Good Luck
  10. Wow! Congrats on getting scheduled!!
  11. Greetings from Chicago! 46 y/o Married Veterans Administration Live in So. Suburbs & work in City I'm self-pay and scheduled with Dr. G. Kirshenbaum - Aurora Colorado since his price is $6k lower than anything here. Even considered Mexico... I'm a bit nervous about how I'll handle fills.. if I'll fly there, or TRY to find someone here who won't charge $500+. That's one thing worrying me. Anyway, I am so tired of all the diets I've tried and succeeded and gained back even more. I am learning vital info reading your posts and am glad to join you here. Am truly struggling with who to tell and not to tell. Not sure I can keep my big mouth shut once I start losing! When I like something... I talk about. Of course my hubby knows, now I've told my sisters and brothers. Put in for vacation at work instead of sick leave. My manager is dead set against the idea - we had a very brief talk about it when she first started working with me. I work with a team of 5 very, very athletic individuals (including her) and I think they wouldn't understand. I'm two seconds from saying, so what. We will see!!
  12. Those are the two financing sources I applied for - did mine online & it was processed and accepted easily.
  13. The count down is so fun to me! Have you had an opportunity to check on their website to see the type of financing they accept? Unless you plan to send them a personal check or using your VISA/MC. As soon as you get a date, they'll send you the info you need for a preop diet. I was told to do an Atkins-style preop - the length of time on this varies... you'll learn the length when you speak with nutritionist a few weeks before surgery.
  14. Magaines... Your Weight Loss thus far is extremely encouraging!
  15. Thank you! My surgery center is inside Parker Hospital it's called Crown Point Surgery Center.
  16. Hello... I finally decided to stop reading post and read Dr. K's website - picked up the phone and talked with his office staff (VERY NICE & INFORMATIVE). I just called last week and was given my date of 10/30. I believe this time will fly by and I'll be banded in no time! I received a ton of info from Natalie [his bariatric coordinator], as soon as I was set with financing, etc. She sent me everything I needed to know to get started. I got my pre-op consult w/Dr. K via phone on 10/6 and will arrive there 10/29 to meet with him at 3pm and surgery the next day at 1pm. DH & I plan to be there for 2 nights. We are flying in and staying at a local hotel (they provide you with many choices at a medical rate). Everyone on this website have provided me with a whole lot of information to help me with this decision and I plan to continue to return for ongoing support. Good Luck

Congrats on getting a date! Your story is soooo similar to mine - just don't think I can do another nutrisystem, jenny craig, ww, southbeach - without first having this surgery completed... then, I know I have to make serious committments for life. And like you, I'm so ready!
  18. Thanks much for that book info & for the web address as well - I'll look into it for sure. The book my surgeon has suggested is 'Lapband Solutions' another poster on this site suggested 'Adjustable Gastric Band: Everything You Need to Know' by Robert W. Sewell. Both can be ordered at Amazon.com
  19. I know that I am so nervous! I tossed and turned all night last night - thinking, should I be spending this sort of money right now? Are we going to struggle while I pay for this? Should I wait until next year? No, I don't know, but NO! I've been researching this for years and for 3 yrs continuously - I've been serious. It's my time and I'm just nervous. Since I scheduled the date... I can barely think of anything else! I too have read every inch of the info Dr. K's office has sent. I am getting ready to order one of the lapband books. I believe we have all made the very best choice - having done many, many other diets. I'm the queen of diets at my office. Can't wait to get banded!
  20. Thank you so very much!!!
  21. Again, thanks for all of this info. I have scheduled my surgery for 10/30 with Dr. K in Colorado for $9900. I'm a little nervous about needing to travel back so far for fills and worried that facilities here in Chicago will turn me down for these - or will charge way too much! I got a detailed message today from Greate Lakes Weight Center in Michigan - who charges $10700 with everything included, plus overnight stay. Says they are able to schedule me withing two weeks. But, they want $500 to hold a surgery date. I'm skeptical of this and need to do some BBB research, etc. If I was convinced of getting local fills at a reasonable price - I wouldn't consider them as much - but, they closer to home. Also, they've changed their name from something else and I don't understand why.
  22. I too don't really want to tell too many folks. However, if I am blessed enough to lose as much as folks I'm reading about here have lost, the cat will certainly be out of the bag. I work in a huge place (DH works there as well). I've lost and gained the same 40 to 45 lbs for past 6 yrs., so they'll all be buzzing... I already know it. Plus, I talk a lot when I'm excited about something... let me start dropping and I'll I won't be able to hold it. My manager is absolutely against anything like this - too bad. So, of course DH knows, he's going with me; My sisters and brothers all know I want it - but, I don't believe they think I'll actually follow-through. I wish I could just shut up, but I'm so excited. Besides, if it works for me - I'd really like to share! We will see!
  23. Hello: Does anyone have knowledge of the Great Lakes Weight Loss Center? I've found their website and contacted them - since it's closer and we have a bunch of relatives over there. It's located in Harper Professional Bldg. in Detroit & Rochester Hills Bldg in Rochester Hills, MI The price is $10700. I've scheduled for Dr. K in October... this place says I could be scheduled within 2-3 wks from now. Please let me know if you are able to provide any feedback. I'll keep checking to see if I can find it here. Thanks in advance, will post this in another forum as well.
