Kirsten, that sucks!! I feel for you, damn stress. Did your Dr start you on an anti-viral such as famvir? Be aggressive because shingles can cause transient nerve pain that will drive you nuts. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya, I hope you feel better. Tell Cassie we said hi. Patti

I find myself explaining this to my family since they don't understand that I have no restriction yet. The constant calls of "how much have you lost" are absolutely annoying. Kiarnold, she said she started vomiting and had bad pain. I don't think it's that common for a port to flip. The port pain on the other hand seems very common after surgery. I'm sure you're fine, just take it easy.

Be very careful, I was banded on 8/16 by Dr Ortiz and the day before he had to re-band a girl that ate chicken 4 days post-op and slipped her band. He made her go to all of our rooms to talk to us. Dr Miranda said no solid food for 21 days. Good luck, go slow.

Candy, Congrats!!! You'll hopefully only feel bloated for less than a week. Good luck and take it slow.

I have Aetna and could have waited for approval for surgery at another facility but A) Didn't want to wait and Was impressed by the surgerons experience in Mexico. I actually was approved for surgery but the Dr that I wanted to go to only operated at a hospital that did not renew it's contract with Aetna. "Clarification" I'm really not convinced of since you had your band done in the states what difference does it make? Are you considering getting another band? The actual reason is NOT money versus quality because I believe that I got better quality treatment and a higher quality surgeon than many people in the states. IMHO I do think there is some type of agenda here also, let it go everyone picks their own surgeon for whatever reason it may be. Good luck in your weight loss journey.

I called Don Mills at Inamed/Allergen (if you search his name his number is listed in previous posts). He has first hand knowledge of any complaints or complications, plus he can tell you which Drs Inamed uses to procter other physicians. He gave me a list of names including Ortiz, Kuri, Sanchez, Rumbault, and a few more which I don't recall now but there was a total of about 8. I was considering another Dr but after talking to him I quickly changed my mind.

I say instead of making accusations under a secondary name (if that's the case) just say who you are and exactly what your complaints are. I think the moderators do a great job and are very fair. On some of the other boards I go on topics would be locked way faster. I'm sure if they had concerns with a specific moderator they could have PM'd another moderator and/or Alex instead of making broad accusations in a thread. Keep up the good work moderators it's a thankless job that many of us would never do.

I crave small amounts of pureed thinned foods.

OMG, when I was in TJ the night before surgery (when we were allowed to eat) I ordered a coke and I kept saying to my husband I think my sode is flat and it tastes different. My husband told me that it was because they don't use high fructose corn syrup. Definately different, and you're correct less carbonation (nothing like a Mickey D's coke)

I can't believe the amount that some Drs will charge for a fill. I set up my aftercare Dr before my trip to TJ and he only charges $100 a fill with fluoro. At least you get a small trip every fill (Hmmm maybe I should have considered telling my husband that I had to go back to TJ since San Diego was so beautiful).

I know exactly what a psychic vampire is and she has posted numerous negative responses on this thread. She brought up Penni more than once throughout this thread to try to justify her mexico bashing.

I would definately say something to the NP, that is totally unprofessional. Even as nurses if a pt says this is where they stick me you listen who knows best the pt. I probably would have let him try twice then I would have had him stop and get himself together. So sorry you were used for target practice, call the NP and possible look for another fill Dr. Good luck!!
