  1. I am really interested in the band, not sure of which one yet though, I have 3 kids and a 2 week recovery really isn't an option. Also the risks of internal bleeding and sepsis are higher with the GBP. The band being reversible is also appealing for me. I have done the seminar, had my initial consult, I have my initial psych scheduled for next week, I got a "bye" on the exercise since I walk about 12 miles per week with a training program. Blood and EKG are right before surgery so I am just rockin' along...
  2. Thanks for your insight. I am comfortable with Dr. Marquez as I have had 2 surgeries with her before. I had a breast lumpectomy about a year ago (I was so scared from my bad mammogram) and I love her bedside manner. I also really like seeing a female doctor. Dr. Marquez is suggesting the Realize band but she spent time on gbp and banding as options. Good luck to you and keep me posted on your progress!!!
  3. Thanks -- I know I can do it:smile: BUT I need to mentally prepare for no food for 1 OR 2 weeks. Thanks for being so helpful and INSPIRING!!!!
  4. I was interested in this three since I am also Dell Humana. My BMI is 40.4 so I think I may be approved quickly. I am with Dr. Marquez at SW Bariatrics. How were your surgeries? How are you feeling? How many pds. lost? It is great to see others doing what you are planning to do!
  5. Hey -- me too I just had my surgeon appt. and I am waiting to hear from insurance. My ins. is 100% and my BMI is 40.4 so I HOPE HOPE HOPE it will be soon. Good luck!!!
  6. You will be fine -- the main thing I remember is a horrible dry mouth after the surgery. If you can handle that you're GOLDEN! Just go home and sleep it off. Like anything else after it's done it's done!!! You will be fine :-)
  7. Does Dr. Marquez require the pre-op diet?
  8. Me too -- I will have help for a few days but I have a 32# toddler who is a WILD MAN!!! I know to take it easy but I may need to lift him on occasion or at least help him around! TIA!
  9. Me too -- no band yet just going thru preliminary stuff but welcome!
  10. I am in Round Rock with Dr. Marquez -- but I have my initial consult next week!!!!
  11. Mary -- Me too! My 1/2 marathon is in January :-) I just got news to day that I will likely get to have my band before the end of the year too. I am in Austin. My group is only at 6 miles now -- but every week I know that if I can 4, I can do 5, if I can do 5 I can do 6. I feel so good after I know I have done something for me .... Good luck and keep me posted. Take care -- Stacyiam
  12. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Now go and buy those new things in a REGULAR store -- I SWEAR I will NEVER EVER go into Lane Bryant after I lose this weight :-)
  13. Me too I just submitted all my pperwk and I am waiting for the "call". My BMI is 38 with HBP. I started Lexapro about 2 yrs ago and I have gained 40 lds since I went on. BUT it does help me deal w/life a bit better :-)
  14. I just turned in my pperwk and I hope to get banded soon BUT I already do this -- still being FAT with no band. It is usually my first bite when I sit down to eat. It only happens occasionally. But "sliming" is EXACTLY how I would describe it, my chest hurts but It's not like choking@#$ What is this called?
  15. I have just submitted my first paperwork, etc. I have been lurking though, learning what I can. Thanks for sharing your experiences! stacy:thumbup:
