  1. If a second opinion is an option, I would go for it. You may hear the same thing.... but who knows. Good luck to you!!! Becky
  2. I did great. My family went out for a buffet breakfast. Gotta love those buffets... NOT. I ate some fruit and a tiny bit of scrambled eggs. Spent the rest of the time riding the hotel elevator and making wishes in the fountain with my 4 year old granddaughter. My sister brought over some turkey - YIKES. Did not go down well at all. Kinda hard to chew it up, so I put it in my food chopper and make a turkey salad out of it that I will have for lunch tomorrow. It was a good day - I am blessed and I am thankful. Becky
  3. Hi. I hope you all are doing well and had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! I have a question for those of you who have had fills. I often read about people who are very tight right after a fill and then their band gets looser. Is there anyone, besides me, who felt nothing right after a fill.... like for a week or two and THEN began to feel restriction. It seems kinda backwards... and I am a little bit strange... but... anyone know what I am talking about?? Becky
  4. I know it is hard, but you should do what your doctor tells you to do. You are healing and liquids is what your body and your band need right now. You wouldn't want to do anything to hinder the healing process, or worse yet, damage your band in any way. If you really think you can't wait until Friday, then maybe you should call your doctor's office and see what they say. Good luck to you. Becky
  5. You will feel better soon. I felt good after about a week and great after two. I agree that if you are still having trouble getting liquids down or the incisions don't get better soon, you might want to call or go in and see your surgeon. Do you have a post-op visit scheduled?? I have not doubted my decision for one second and I would do it over again in a heartbeat. I was feeling pretty bad before my surgery - all that extra weight that I was carrying around made my quality of life not so great. I feel SOOOOO much better now and it is exciting to finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. Try to stay focused on why you chose to have this done and take good care of yourself!! Keep us posted on how you are doing. Becky
  6. I LOVE spicy foods - especially Mexican food!!! I did not have to give it up.... I don't think I could have. Even when I was on the liquid phase of the post-op diet, I strained HOT salsa into my chicken and beef broth. It was much better that way. I was lucky - I did not have to give up coffee.... my doctor lets me have that. So I'm always wide awake and spicy... works for me. Good luck to you!!!! Becky
  7. Hi. I am one of the people who had trouble sleeping at first. I could not get comfortable. It hurt when I laid on my back and it hurt when I laid on my side - I've never slept on my stomach, so that wasn't an issue. I had to sleep in my Lazy Girl for the first few weeks. It wasn't bad and eventually I was able to sleep in my bed. Thanks to my friends here on LBT, I didn't have many surprises before or after my surgery. I only wish I had done it sooner. I feel great and never had a moment's doubt about having the surgery - before or after. Good luck to you!!! Becky
  8. I also went through True Results. My insurance would have covered my surgery, but I chose to pay for it myself. I have some personal issues with insurance companies. Went to my initial consultation on August 13th and they scheduled my surgery for September 12th (ended up having it Sept. 19th because of Hurricane Ike). All I had to have done was blood work and an EKG. I didn't even have to have a psych evaluation. My PCP didn't know I had the surgery until it was over. She is my new doctor and we had only met once. When I read some of the nightmare insurance stories on here, I feel so lucky. I was, and am, very happy with True Results and my surgeon. Good luck to you!!! Becky
  9. I went for my second fill yesterday - didn't feel anything after the first. I am on liquids, so I don't know if I will have any restriction with this one. One thing they keep telling me is... NO BREAD. Maybe this is just my doctor's rule, but they did say it can swell up and stretch the pouch. Maybe down the road I will be able to have it, but not yet. Good luck to you!! Becky
  10. I don't use children's utensils, but I did go online and ordered 6 of the prettiest salad plates that I could find. My meals look like much more on salad plates than they do on big dinner plates. I'm up for any tricks that help!! Good luck to you!!! Becky
  11. Hi Princess. Congratulations on getting your band. Right after my surgery I found that warm drinks went down much better than very cold ones did. It hurt when I drank really cold Propel water or ate a sf popsicle. I had pain from the gas - heating pad (not right on incisions) on my shoulder, walking, peppermint tea - all helped. I also had trouble sleeping. Slept sitting up for a week or two. I felt pretty good about a week after my surgery and good about 10 days out. If you are feeling hungry, try broth or hot tea. I know that may not be what you are wanting, but you need to stick with those liquids to help in the healing process. Make sure you follow your doctor's instructions and don't be afraid to call them if you have any problems or questions. I had many of my questions answered here and got a lot of support. If I can do anything to help you, please feel free to let me know - questions.... concerns.... or if you just need to vent. Good luck to you - take good care of yourself!! Becky
  12. I felt pretty good after a week and good after about 10 days. But you are right - I was tired for a couple of weeks. Good luck to you Heidi... you will be back to normal soon!! Take it easy and take good care of yourself!!! Becky
  13. Hi. I was banded on September 19th, 2008. My band also holds 10 cc's. My surgeon put 2 cc's in my band at the time of the procedure. I had my first fill on October 24th - they took out the original....well 1.8, put that back in and added 1.3. So after my first fill I have 3.1 cc's. Didn't have any restriction after surgery and still don't after first fill. I go back on Nov. 20th for second fill. How much restriction are you feeling with this much in your band?? I sure am hoping to feel some kind of restriction after my second fill. Becky
  14. Hi. I have to have one shake a day - doctor's orders. But I bought the unflavored whey protein powder at GNC... I mix a scoop of that (21 grams) with my yogurt at night. Doesn't change the flavor of the yogurt and gives me the protein that I need. Good luck to you. Becky
  15. Hi Capt. For sure the burping thing will pass. About the pills. You really need to check with your doctor (PCP). Some medications are not supposed to be crushed or broken. I found out my blood pressure pill was not supposed to be when I googled it. Hopefully you won't have to gag down crushed pills!! Yuck!! My doctor switched my BP pills to smaller ones that I can swallow. Not sure about the diabetic pills. I take chewable vitamins and calcium of course. Good luck to you. Becky
  16. Hi. Just wanted to share this funny story with you. Before I decided to get my band, I joined Weight Watchers (AGAIN). I went to the first meeting and the lecturerer asked what problems everyone had had that week. One lady said she hadn't been drinking enough water. Then another said she hadn't exercised enough. Then about 5 or 6 people said they had been having problems with too many BLT's. I thought that was kinda strange - all these people eating too many bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwhiches????? I finally asked the nice lady sitting next to me and she informed me that BLT's were Bites, Licks, and Tastes. So just remember... to many BLT's and you won't lose like you want to. Hope everyone is well and happy!!! Becky
  17. The grocery stores are going to wonder why the sales of dried apricots have gone up. Just got home with mine.... thank you!!! Becky
  18. Hi. I didn't use Optifast either. But you do need to get instructions from your doctor and follow them. I had to have a protein shake for breakfast and lunch every day for my 3 week pre-op diet - dinner was fish, chicken, turkey, lean beef, and vegetables. I used the Atkins Advantage shakes. After surgery,.... a protein shake for breakfast every day... forever. I like the chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. They are not real cheap, but I'm not spending any more on the shakes than I would on other breakfast groceries. Good luck to you!!!! Becky
  19. Hi. I paid $12,900 for my surgery in September. I had it done in Houston Texas. That includes follow up care for 2 years and up to 10 fills. I am very happy with my surgeon, his staff, and the care I receive from them. Good luck to you!! Becky
  20. I just couldn't eat the baby food, but I did buy the little Gerber juices. No sugar added and they are just the right size. Pear is my favorite. Becky
  21. I need a miracle. Thank you. I've tried almost every product at Walgreen's and Whole Foods. I will be purchasing those apricots first thing in the morning. Becky
  22. Hi Teri. I thought the same thing. If someone is so anti-band, why would they spend so much time here posting negative comments.... over and over and over. I love my band too, am having great success with it, and come here to get support and encouragement. The band is not the answer for everyone.... we know. There comes a time when you just need to move on. Becky
  23. I was on the same pre-op diet that you are on and I lost 16 pounds in 3 weeks - not sure how much of it was the first, second, or third week. Good luck to you!!! Becky
  24. Hi javaseas. I had horrible headaches right after my surgery too - nothing seemed to help. So bad sometimes that they woke me up. They finally went away about a week after surgery. I hope yours go away too. Good luck to you!!! Becky
