I stalled at 6 months for about 9 weeks it was awful but i stuck to the program and the weight started to come off again. Just saw my surgeon and I am no longer in the obese category, overweight and I quote my Dr. "not by much" I need to lose about 25 more LBS. I know it will be much slower now but i am sticking with it. You will start to lose again don't give up!

Merri Beth got a reaction from SuziDavis in Stall and it is awful!
I had my surgery on Nov 29, 2022. Things have been going really well then boom the dreaded stall has hit. I haven't lost anything in about 6 weeks. I have been monitoring what I am eating, making sure i get in the Vitamins and Protein. I do need to increase my exercise, I am so worn out after working all day. I am seeking any suggestions on how to break thru this stall. It is driving me crazy.....

My surgeon in Las Vegas repaired a small HH during my sleeve surgery. I didn't know I had the HH but am glad he saw it and took the initative to repair. I had my surgery through the Surgical Weight Control Center, the surgeon was Dr. Marc Leduc and he is absolutely wonderful, very knowledgeable and professional, great bedside manner. I had my three month check up yesterday and am down 54 LBS. I have gratefully not had any complications and did not even have to take one pain med after the surgery. Highly recommend SWCC and Dr. Leduc.

Yes, I had a period when i returned to work where I had to call my supervisor a million times because I couldn't remember where to find forms in the computer system, who I should send the different ones to for approval and just some crazy things. It is better now though.

Merri Beth reacted to vsg2410 in Loss has slowed to a crawl!
From what my surgeon told me and what I’ve read - the first 6 months are more rapid then you can expect to lose 1-2 lbs/week. The slower weight loss is a healthy rate of weight loss. Now everybody is different and if you’re on the lower side of BMI the loss will more likely be slower than those with a higher starting BMI. But any loss is still that, a loss!

Merri Beth reacted to Alex Brecher in Hmmm thats a bit different- feeling full
Here are some tips that might help you manage this change:
Listen to your body: Pay attention to the signals your body is sending you, such as hunger and fullness cues. Eat slowly: Chew your food well and take small bites to allow your brain to catch up with your stomach. Stop eating when you're full: Don't try to eat more just because you're used to feeling full in the past. Avoid high-volume, low-nutrient foods: Foods that are high in sugar or empty calories can be tempting, but they won't fill you up and may contribute to overeating. Drink Water regularly: Staying hydrated can help you feel full and prevent overeating. Keep a food journal: Writing down what you eat and when you eat it can help you identify patterns and prevent overeating. Remember, everyone's journey is different, and it may take some time to adjust to the changes in your body. Be patient with yourself and stay focused on your goals.

I have had some pain in my left side as well. It is up a little higher though. My surgeon said he thought it was muscle related and would improve with time and it has. I had the surgery on Nov. 29, 2022.

Constipation is a common issue after bariatric surgery, due to changes in the digestive system and the decreased food intake. It's important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of Water and other fluids, as well as eating high-fiber foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
There are several over-the-counter medications that may be used to help with constipation, such as stool softeners (such as Colace, as you mentioned), laxatives (such as Miralax or generic versions), and Fiber supplements (such as Metamucil or Benefiber).
It's always best to check with your surgeon or primary care physician before taking any new medication after bariatric surgery, since some medications may interact with the surgery or have other risks for bariatric patients.
It's also important to try to establish a regular bowel movement routine. This can include regular physical activity, eating at regular times, and avoiding dehydration.

Merri Beth reacted to Sunnyway in ONEderland! It took one year.
It took one year and two weeks post surgery (plus 7 months pre-surgery), but today, nekked, on my own scale, I hit ONEderland, 199.6 lbs. Yipee! I know it's transitory and I'll bounce back and forth for a while, but this is the first time my scale has shown under 200 lbs for about 25 years. I've gone from a size 30-32 to an 18-20.
My hair is growing back. My brother is moving back home after 30+ years as an expat. I've booked a southern Caribbean cruise for April and he's going with me. All is good!
Just when I finally got all skinny leg pants, I discovered that the "in" style is again baggies. Well, there are some things you just can't win.

I had my surgery this past November at the age of 60. I am down about 32 LBS, i don't expect to lose fast due to genetics and my history but i am determined to continue to follow my plan no matter what. With what i lost so far i already can tell a big difference in how my knees and legs feel, i can walk longer distance without pain which to me is a huge win. I just put on a pair of jeans that have been hanging in my closet for a year because i couldn't even get them over my hips!! For me, the sleeve was definitely the right decision. I still new on this journey but so far so good.
I have my surgery with the surgical weight control center in Las Vegas highly recommend

I was so relieved to get to the otherside too! I just had gastric sleeve on 11-29. Tomorrow is one week post op. Each day has gotten better. Just don't forget you have to sip. I drank too big of a drink of Water today and whew did i pay for that. Felt terrible for about 30 minute after. You will do wonderful and congratulations for getting to the otherside.
