NP_WIP got a reaction from longhaul68 in What was the moment/day you decided on WLS?
I know of some people who had it done in 2022, so I was intrigued but continued to try to do it on my own and failing.

A week before I called the doctor I went to the Grand Canyon, and among the pictures my husband asked why I was posing a certain way. I wasn't. It hit me that I was no longer 230 but nearing 290, and I had no control of my body. I was sleeved 2 months after that day.

My husband went on a camping/hiking/biking trip with his buddy. While he was away, I got caught up in my feelings, wishing that he and I could do something like that as a couple, but knowing that I wouldn't be able to keep up, would be uncomfortable, tired, sweaty, etc. I started googling, found a surgeon who was having an initial class for potential patients, and signed up for the class.
A week later, I picked up my husband from his camping trip, and told him I was going to have WLS. I was scared to tell him, but he was so supportive, and I knew I'd made the right decision. It's been a dream life ever since!!!
We still talk about the day I picked him up from his trip and announced my surgery! LOL!!

When you had the bypass you signed yourself up for a spot in a marathon in a number or sports. Running (what you eat) Track and field (how you eat and why). Stamina (Patience). Synchcronized swimming (Creativity). Discus (More patience). High jump (Exercise). It will take a long time of practicing all of these elements to get to the end of your race.
It can feel very hard at the start to even see the finish line and that is why you just keep on showing up for yourself day after day. I struggled at the start with the length of the journey ahead. It has taken me a year to feel better about being in my own skin. Keep on doing what your team has advised. If you keep to new habits it will happen even though there may be hiccups along the way.
Picture where you will be at in a year and looking back at the victories you will have along the way.
1 - Stay off the scales they will do your head in. Weigh once a week or month.
2 - Measure yourself once a month a see the changes.
3 - Set mini goals along the way and reward yourself when you achieve them.
4 - Be proud that you are doing the very best you can. 💖

I was also hungry after surgery. It does get better once you start solids, you will be hungry but get full with a small portion.

finally got a chance to eat something today (gym, vet appt and grocery shopping kept me occupied until now).
anyway i was "starving" by the time i got home and i seriously wolfed this down:
1/2 a bagel w/ butter, havarti, and a dollop of labneh: 348 calories and ate it all!

Japanese restaurant. Ordered miso ramen with tonkotsu. It came with a whopping 5 slices of grilled pork, egg and more. I ate one slice of the pork, a little of the noodles and then just drank some of the broth. Took it home and enjoyed it later (little by little lol). Unfortunately, on the way home I still got the foamies. First time in months. Didn't last long but it was extremely uncomfortable.

I was told it was normal even at my 3 month post op appointment. At first it was like yours but after the 1st month, I only felt it occasionally or when I pressed on it. I honestly started to notice it was not hurting even when pressed about 3 weeks ago when I was getting closer to 5 months. This week is kind of nonexistent.

I have to agree, seems like a lot of weight lifting so soon after surgery.I would think you are not eating enough and your body could be holding on to your weight.

I would speak to your team to see if you should be doing something different with eating.

I'm 9 months out and am super happy with my arm results so I wanted to share some before/after pics. As you can see, the scar is still pretty visible although it is fading. My surgeon thinks it will likely fade for up to 2 years.

NP_WIP got a reaction from Changing Chris in Weight Loss Patterns?
As everyone will say, everyone is different and their journeys are unique. Look at the overall weight loss instead to train your brain to Celebrate every lb lost.

I thought I was a slow looser, but once I started seeing my loss per month and year to date, I know there was no way I was doing it on my own.

When I feel I should be doing better, I revisit my food log and make sure I'm within my plans recommendations and increase my Fluid intake and tweak as needed, most times is my fluids or calories are too low for my activity level.

I madethis today, wanting some deviled eggs, and decided to switch up the mayo with hummus! I used spicy hummus and they were DELICIOUS!
    4 eggs hardboiled
3-4 TBSP hummus (I used supremely spicy hummus by Sabra mixed up)
    I TSP mustard
A teeny bit of mayo will help make it more creamy for those who like a more creamy filling
Slice eggs in half and combine yolks with hummus, mustard, and maybe mayo for filling. Fill egg whites. Consume!
I made it with 3 TBSP hummus and a tbsp miracle whip and 4 halves (or two eggs) was almost 14g of protein!!!!
