Dr. Michel Murr - Dr Murr @ TGH
Dr Murr did my surgery and it was also my first surgery of any kind. Boy was I nervous! Everything went great and I really only have one scar. You can hardly see it unless you look very close. I had a two incision procedure but the other incision is just a dot. Very good experience overall. Dr Murr is very kind and has great Dr manners. Listens to your questions and doesn't make you feel like he is too busy to deal with you.

What would you do?
1. How I now crave salt on everything and I never used to even touch the salt shaker! (uh-oh) 2. How just a little bit of food fills me up. (yippee) 3. How I never burp anymore. (such a lady)

Watermelon
I eat watermelon with no problem. I eat some protein first and then I'll have a little watermelon. I certainly don't buy a whole watermelon anymore! A little does me just fine!

What NOT to eat!???
Donna is right, everyone is different. My biggest problem food is chicken. The only way I can eat it is in chicken salad. Recently I noticed I can't eat peas comfortably. Maybe it is the skins?? I used to be a bread lover and thought I could never give that up, but now it really isn't worth the pain. So far those are the main issues. Also, something that never gave you a problem before can become a problem the next time you eat it. Fickle band! But I love it just the same.

banded in Febraury and really frustrated
I was banded Feb 4th, first fill on 3/30 2.? ccs, and Yes I AM HUNGRY! My next fill isn't scheduled until 6/8. I've been calling trying to get my appointment moved up but they won't call me back. Ugh! I know what you mean, I lost 24 lbs the first month, 4 lbs the second month, 5 lbs after my fill and I'm afraid I've gained 2 or 3 back. I won't make it to June... I hope they call me soon.

When should I start feeling normal?
Hi Steph, you'll feel a little better by Monday. I took about a week off. Just be gentle with yourself. Each day will get better. Do you have steri-strips on your incisions? If you do, be sure to let them fall off on their own. Don't help them. Mine were on for about 3 1/2 weeks. And my incisions looked pretty good. After about a month you will feel almost completely normal. Take care and good luck!

What is your mental stop sign?
I can totally relate! At my work, they celebrate birthdays once a month with 3 huge cakes right next to my office. All I smell is sugar! The way I can get through it (most times) is I tell myself the cake is nothing but butt-fat. I look at everyone in line and think they are all lining up for a nice hunk of butt-fat. No thank you, I've had plenty! Sometimes I will go down to the company gym and weigh myself while everyone is eating their butt-fat. Whatever works, right?!

Anyone Willing to Share?
Hi, I am about 8 weeks from surgery. I have two scars. One is about an inch long and the other is less than a half inch. The larger of the two is on my right where the port is. They were dark purple and now they are light purple. I just noticed yesterday that they are definitely getting lighter. I can feel the scar tissue under my right scar, not so much on the left. I know you can't see but I think at our stage in healing they feel worse than they look.

How is your port?
So I'm wondering about this port or alien in me... It gives my significant other the creeps a little bit. Will it always stay like this or does it settle down into your body later? Mine feels kind of startling now but I'm hoping when I become flatter it will sink in deeper. I don't know if that is correct though because the fat layer fat covering it will become thinner and it seems the port would be even more noticable. I also think I read in here that someone had to have their's repositioned?? How is your port?

First Fill On MONDAY!!!!
I also get my first fill on Monday but I was banded on Feb 4th. My doc says 2 days of liquids and then a few days to a few weeks of soft foods after a fill. I can't wait so the weight loss can pick up again. I lost 23 the first month and only 4 this month. Good luck to everyone!

Off of work?
I had my surgery on Wednesday and went back to work the following Wednesday. I could have gone back Monday but I'm glad I took the 2 extra days. I was so tired/sleepy about half way through each day. I've heard that the sleepiness is from the anesthesia still getting out of your system???

5 week post-op update
You sound so happy! I'm so glad. I won't have my first fill until 8 weeks post op. Ugh! I had lost 25 lbs since surgery but I'm afraid I might be adding a couple back on in the last 2 weeks or so. I really want my fill! My incisions look great and I feel great! I try to walk 30 minutes everyday. I tried pilates but my port felt funny so I'll wait a little longer for that. Keep up the great work!

how are the feb banders doing
Hello! I was banded Feb 4 and I am down about 25 lbs. Or at least I was at my follow up visit. I won't have my first fill until Mar 30. I am getting a little bummed becuase I might be gaining a few pounds back. :tongue_smilie: I don't want to get on the scale until I go back on the 30th. I'm still shocked that I lost that much so fast. I guess that wretched broth was worth it! I wish you the very best and success!
