  1. i have my first fill tomorrow. i have been on soups and protein for the past 2 weeks and only lost one pound. is this also common?
  2. i also had one. i had noticed over the past couple of years i had a problem with gas building up in my chest and would wake me up. if i had no tums in the house i was in trouble. it hurt like a heart attack. i didn't know about the hernia until after i came out of surgery and my husband told me they repaired one while i was in surgery. guess they will tell me about it tommorrow when i go for my first fill. (or i hope they do a fill) they say alot of over weight people have them. i never noticed reflux. i wonder what causes these?
  3. i had my surgery August 20. i was wondering the same thing about those steri strips. i went ahead and pealed them off. felt so good! the strips were irritating my skin. the incisions look good. i go for my first fill tommorrow. wish me luck! anyone have a problem driving thereself home after a fill? it is over 2 hours , one way for me. thanks Susan
  4. i was glad to hear it didn't hurt. i hope my fill on tuesday does give me some restriction. i am getting hungrier by the day. i sure hope this journey works. it is not that easy. feels good to have those strips off my incisions. the tape was irritating my skin. have a great day everyone!
  5. i also am concerned about my med's after my first fill next week. i take percocet for my back and they are pretty large tablet. i am currently breaking them into but i don't think that will work after a fill. maybe cut it into pieces am sure hoping the blood pressure pill can come off soon. i went ahead and pulled off the strips today after reading on the scar post. they really don't look bad. i expected them to be in about the 4 corners and one around the belly button but they are all close to under my breast. 4 punctures and one about 1 or 2 inches long on the port site. i will be glad when that one heals. glad you all are here to talk to
  6. Listen i had to stop taking my antidepressent also. i was taking Cybalta and had to get the Dr to change it. i recalled that Lexipro was small pill and the Cymbalta was time released capsule. i am doing good with the change over and now i know the Cymbalta was causing me to sweat all the time esp, in my sleep. i was ask for a smaller pill. Hope things smooth out for you and welcome
  7. Now that is funny! (the toe nails).. welcome and its nice to hear a great sense of humor
  8. i can't recall if i introduced myself yet. i read through all the post but i didn't see it so here goes. i am 52 and had to retire 2 years ago due to back surgery that went bad. i had to wait until i got on medicare to get my lap band. but i have it now since the 20th. i am raising maltese puppies to breed some AKC puppies. and making pet beds and clothes for a pass time. i worked for the state of LA at a University for 20 years, repairing computers and office machines. i have a wonderful husband of 34 yrs. i have 3 grown kids and 8 grandkids. i have been overweight most of my life. i lose it and then gain it back plus some. so this is my last chance and hopefully it will help my back and leg pain. plus hopefully can get off the blood pressure meds. so glad to have found this support site. God Bless you all! Susan
  9. i don't live far from you. i live in Simsboro and was banded aug 20th in Texarkana. i kept trying in SHrevport but they kept saying they had there quota. hope you are doing ok. i am feeling pretty good now. susan
  10. hi Kathern, i was just wondering if that is a maltese puppy you are using for your avatar? so cute! i have 3 maltese puupies :tt2: i am loving them  susan
  11. Hi Everyone, tommorrow will be 2 weeks. i am feeling more like myself. only one problem, i have to be careful passing gas. thank goodness i haven't been out somewhere. i feel like i have taken Xenical, if anyone has ever taken it, you know what i mean. not to be to graphic. had a few accidents. i never knew scrambled eggs could taste sooo good :tt2: IMG]http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd359/susancaskey/augustAllStarsGlitters.gif[/img] IMG]http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd359/susancaskey/ticker.jpg[/img]
  12. thank you both for replying to my messages. i wonder if our hernia's caused gas build up before surgery. i know i had taken nexium a few times trying to get rid of it. it use to wake me up, feeling like i was having a heart attack and have to take something and it would go away. were you both doing that too? i hope that was it. it sure will be nice to be rid of it. as far as the gas going away, i think it stays because of being hungry!:tt2: they told me to wait until week 3 to eat the mushies. i hope i can hold out. these protien shakes and soup are getting really old. oh but the popcycles are nice  i managed to drive to the bank and go weigh myself yesterday. i feel a little more human. but i am happy to be on my way now. hoping to get off the blood pressure med's soon. i know my little doggies are wondering when i am going to eat something they want again  they are so much company and little loves :w00t: it will sure be nice to be a normal size one day. have a great day everyone!! *hugs s susan
  13. Hello everyone, i posted a while ago but not sure i put it in the August bandsters :cursing: i was banded on the 20th, i walked the floors all that night trying to get the gas to move on out. they did find a hernia and took care of that. this is my 7th day so far. i am a little weak but am making it. i expected the incisions to me kind of scattered all over but they are all at the top of my tummy. i had a bad few days with that gas but feel i am on my way now. i am 15 pds lighter as of today :huh2: woo hoo! not sure what the hernia was, i guess i will find out on the 9th for my first fill. i'm not really hungry. still on the liquids for now. i dream of eating though lol anyways, just wanted to tell you all. susan
  14. i had my band on the 20th. so far a pound a day has disappeared. the gas really got me pretty bad after a couple of days and past on the 6th day. they found some kind of hernia, guess i will know more when i go for my first appointment. i wondered if that is why i had such a hard time. the first night i thought, wow this is nothing! but i was wrong! i walked the floors all that first night because i was warned about the gas. seems all is pouring right through me. they say its ok. i did go out today to the bank but felt kind of weak. but i am down 15 pds! woo hoo!..just wanted you all to know i am still here and hangin'. susan
  15. i bought some meal substitutes from the Dr's office too. but these are much better. i did talk with the dietian before i used them since they said it was important to stick with there diet to reduce my liver. she said it was fine. i like them in the blender so i can crush the ice in them, much better and filling to me. the jello and extracts give them flavor and body
  16. Hope you enjoy them

  18. i have scanned in the recipes if anyone would like the file. my daughter lives in Florida and she went and bought some vanilla base protein at Walmart. i don't see why that won't work for these also. they mainly have the protein different jello's, splenda, fruits and extracts. very good tasting. i like the banana cream pie and peach cobbler. heheheh. (not sure if i did the ticker right) anyways, i am so happy to have found you all. i am getting nervous with each passing day. i am going to have my pre op test on tues and surgery wed. it will be so good to lose this weight and not worry about it coming back on me. i have fought this all my life. hope you all have a great day!! not sure i did the ticker thingy right.:crying:
  19. i started my pre-op diet on the 6th. (surgery date 20th) they wanted me to do the slim fast ugh! i can't tolerate it. so i went into town and found this place called Shake the Weight. the shakes are like having a 2000 calorie meal for 200 calories. they gave me lots of recipes so i can do it at home. this stuff is great! very good variety. so check out your area and see if they have this. its very good tasting. i am so happy to have found you all!
  20. thank you for the reply and i am happy to be here
