did anybody tried herbal life???????
i have used it since i went on the post op diet in August 08. my Dr wouldn't give me another fill last time. (i was telling him my eating routine) he said he thought i was using my band as a crutch... umm yeah thats why i got the thing. i was so angry. but now a month later i did do what he said. he got on to me for using the shakes. wanted me to eat every 4 hours. real food. so this month i did do what he said and it has started me losing again. ( have only lost 45 pds since surgery) as he explained to me, the shakes run right through that band. (but i felt full after having it) also it made my hair grow like crazy. ( i think from all the protein i added to it) anyway.. yes i love them but do try and eat some food also. :bored: Susan

Sorry to hear about your back! I thought I was doing good because I walk about 2.5 miles 4 times per week but the Doctor said I should be running! I told him the only way I would run is if someone was chasing me with a knife so he said he will meet me at 6 am with a knife every morning!! lol. LOL Soontobe, now that was some funny stuff. he has a good sense of humor. loved that! but i think y ou are doing great!

Let's Get This Party Started!
It is hard! but i finally have lost a little more and should get another fill next week. i feel i can still eat to much though. i am surprised i lost anything this month. maybe the next fill will help. hangin in there. it sure has helped to keep me encouraged reading that others are struggling with this too. not that i am happy about that, its just that at least i know i am not in this boat alone. thanks again you all!

Port Pain and TOM
oh mine does that too. i usually have to come home and put on something (like a gown) that doesn't bind me in anyway. the port is sewn to a muscle. and by the end of the day mine is pulling and bothering me. not sure if this is the same as yours though.

Port Pain and TOM

What the H*LL is wrong with me!
i was attracted to this thread by the title and was wondering the same about myself. i know i haven't been banded as long as most of you but wanted to tell you that this has been a very encouraging thread i thought i would have lost more by now but i can see this will take time and the dieting isn't as easy as i thought it would be with the support of the band. but maybe it will get easier for me when i get to a good fill point. i really needed the encouragement from people that are also working with this. i just wanted to tell you all... Thank you for posting and being so honest on here. it really helps me. i may not always post but i do read alot of threads :cursing: Keep the faith! susan

first fill - 3 pokes
i wrote to the program director asking about the fill and if they do one sooner than a month. i ask some other things but she didn't reply to, but this is what she had to say and i thought others may find it interesting. Hi Susan. You may not have restriction after the first fill, and it may take a couple of weeks to tell and sometimes up to 4 weeks, so we do not fill sooner than 4 weeks. Everyone is different, has a different size stomach, and that is why we have to progress to what we consider your sweet spot where you are able to eat your 1/2 cup and are satisfied until your next meal. Just make sure that you use your saucer to eat and do not overeat and stretch your stomach before we get to that fill where you are feeling that restriction.

Let's Get This Party Started!
well shucks.. now that several of you say you didn't get sore, i am wondering if they hit the port correctly. i have a bruise and its very sore and swollen. i think i will call them today. thank you all!!

first fill - 3 pokes
i appreciate you all answering  i too have a big bruise. i wished they had put some in at surgery. i know several people that went to losing weight right away and i think that is the reason. its hard to have gone all these months feeling hungry. of course this is the reason we have the surgery. i sure hope the next fill works. i am going to fuss when i go back. anyone have to wait a month to have there second fill? you all are a blessing!

first fill - 3 pokes
i was just wondering if anyone got really sore the more days that pass from getting your first fill? mine seems to get sorer by the day. you all think it takes more time for the fill to *kick in*? thank you all

Let's Get This Party Started!
it was just hard for me to understand also, i haven't over eaten and stick to the plan they lay out for me. after all those liquids etc i figured i had to lose some, but NOOOO. that was a let down. the first fill didn't seem to effect me at all. still just as hungry, but still sticking to it. i hope my next fill will see some results. heck you would think after all of this i would have at least lost some. maybe i just expected to much. has anyone had the fill then it take a few days to help out?

Hiatal Hernia Club...
i know what you mean. i had stalled also and was really surprised with the fuilds and calorie intake. but my Dr said, it was normal and we have some swelling. Don't worry. You know i'll bet lots of folks have this hernia thing and not know it. i never knew. but sure was glad to hear he fixed it.

Let's Get This Party Started!
Cutie i am so glad to hear that fill was painless. i wished i had known 2 weeks out was soon for a fill. i would have called and ask  oh well, i wouldn't want it done to soon. i told my hubby if this takes a year to lose, it will go fast, as the years seem to pass like a month to me these days. (the older i get) and i didn't gain it all over night. i told the Dr i was a little disappointed that i had not lost more yet. He said it was normal, that alot of people gain during this period. so i won't worry about it to much for now.

Hiatal Hernia Club...
Each Dr differs but my Dr told me i could go back to doing all things now. i got banded on the 20th and saw him yesterday. Hope this helps. i found that the 6th and 7th day after surgery were the worst.
