  1. Every persons weightloss after surgery is going to be different. Some people have restriction right a way while others won't have any restriction until their first fill. The medical staff from my surgeons office says 2 to 3 lbs a week but for me in my first three weeks I have already lost 24 lbs.
  2. Are you the only one that can edit that spredsheet Teresa or can authorize like other gmail accounts to edit it too?
  3. Hi Beth, I am having a tiny bit of swelling but not all that much. Sometimes I do get uncomfortable when trying to sleep on that side but I can sleep on that side. If you think the swelling is abnormal you might want to just give your doctors office a call and see what they have to say about it. Only trouble with that is they will probably want you to come in even if it's nothing.
  4. Hi Angie! Well that sucks that this pain has returned. First thing I would look at doing is taking GasX to see if that helps relieve the pain. Also putting some heat like either a hot shower or a heating pad on your shoulder might help too. If that doesn't help and the pain continues you should call your doctor to make sure it's not anything else. Best of luck and I am sure it's just gas.
  5. It is great that your relaxed now. There really is nothing to fear as I know you will do so great! Tomorrow the surgery will go very well for you and you will be home and on your post-op diet before you know it and the weight will be falling off! Let us know how things went when you get a chance! Best of Luck tomorrow!!!
  6. I won't be the one to tell you that simply because everyone is different in how they react to weight changes. Like I said the only reason I do it weekly is because I know weight fluctuates constantly. Eat a meal it goes up. Go out and run a mile it goes down. LOL I do know what you mean about military training. I went to boot camp at Ft. Dix, NJ in the summer of 1990. In the 10 weeks I was there I went from 225 down to 185. So yes a rapid weight loss but it went back on just as fast too. And then after I was out it went up quickly.
  7. How often do you weigh yourself? I weigh myself once a week. Because of body water weight I will not weigh more then that knowing that weight fluctuates from day to day. I figure that going week to week is a good measure as to the weight loss.
  8. Mine are doing very well. Maybe on Friday when it's been 4 weeks since surgery I will be brave enough to do a one month surgerversary photo. All my incisions are looking good. Just the normal pinkness that you see after any cut until the scar is fully healed.
  9. Well maybe not. It looked right in the text edit window but once posted it doesn't look right.
  10. I am not to sure about the spread sheet in a post other then maybe making one in like excel and then doing a copy and paste function to put it in here. Lets try.... ChinaLosesLotsOfWeightFlorida PeteLosesLotsOfWeight Yeah that workds with the copy and paste function.
  11. I have to say I chaulk my weightloss up to three things. First is a major change in my diet. I have cut soda completely out of my diet as well as changed over to mostly a low carb diet. Secondly is I started walking every single day for exercise. Before hand I really didn't exercise at all so this was a big change for me. Thirdly is one I don't talk about much but it really has to do with how much overweight I have been. Even after losing 68 lbs in the last year I still have more then half my body weight to lose. I am 417 lbs now and plan to get down to 195 lbs. That is a good weight for me since I am 6'-3" tall and even when I was my skinniest, end of basic training U.S. Army, I was still a large frame guy. So that's the secretes to my success. Hard work, dedication, and making the band work for me right out of the gate so to speak.

Well my weight loss was 20 lbs between January '08 til October '08 then my pre-op diet which I did over a 7 week time period I lost another 23 lbs and then since surgery (3 weeks) I have lost another 25 lbs. So in total I have lost 68 lbs. But only 25 lbs since surgery. How do I do it? I follow the diets very closely and get out and walk every day. I step up the walking every few days to push myself just a little harder. Soon I will add in some exercise videos to add more cardio to my routine. So hard work, dedication, and making the band work as a tool to help me lose.
  13. Hey China, Personally I like the month to month challenges. Right now it's to hard for me to really know how much I would/could lose in two months time. But I will go with whatever everyone else wants to do.
  14. Hey Guys, I am in Florida now but I was born in Milwaukee and grew up in Salem. Lived in Oregon for 30 years. I even tell people I am an Oregonian transplanted to Florida.
  15. Congrats on the weightloss! Feels good doesn't it?
  16. I think China is planning on starting a new one of those this Friday. Working to finish this one off first.
  17. It's funny how this goes back to differing doctors and differing opinions. For me, I am not going to chance it.
  18. Do you have a mushy phase at all in your post-op diet? I had two weeks liquids broke up between clear and full liquids and then two weeks mushies. Finally on Jan 5th, one month after surgery, I get to go to solids.
  19. I really don't think a couple of shots of rum will hurt you for a special occassion like new years. Although you will have to let us know how it does affect your stomach. I just am looking forward to next week getting back to be able to have solids. Sure a very small amount and have to chew chew chew but still back to real foods. LOL
  20. OMG that total sucks! I haven't had that happen so far but it is a huge fear of mine. I am sure you won't make that mistake twice.
  21. Right exactly it is the carbination in soda and beer that we're not allowed to have. For me it's not an issue. I haven't had a soda since the middle of October and I don't miss it. I am not a drinker so turning down beer is no big deal too. I have been the type of guy that a 6 pack of beer would last me 3 plus months at a time. I really have gotten very used to drinking water. I will also have Crystal Lite and Iced Tea. I am not a coffee drinker at all so that's not anything I would drink.
  22. Really the only way I fell off the wagon was in the food choices but not the amounts. My wifes family is fully aware of my surgery and that made it very helpful. It's funny though even with them knowing I had my surgery done the things that others will offer like soda and beer. LOL - I had no problem telling them no thank you. At Christmas dinner I did have ham, yam, and cottage cheese. The ham I used the Pampered Chef Food Chopper and diced it right up real find then mixed it with mustard and a touch of LF Mayo. The yam of course was mashed with just a touch of butter. It sounds like a lot but I really had the small small amounts to keep within the diet. They had pecan pie for desert and I did not partake. But then again I don't like pecan pie. LOL
  23. Welcome to the group luckyjyn! Congrats on your banding. I was banded on the 5th and doing great. I really was suprised about how little pain I had at all. I am released from light lifting now and am ready to take on the world. LOL - ok well maybe not the world but still gotta love how this feels.
