  1. I eat out a lot and always feel self conscious even though everyone knows I hae the band and issues. If I try to act normal I end up in the bathroom barfing....so I eat a few bites, engage in much conversation, and take home my leftovers. At first I let my feelings stop me from going out, but finally realized that was silly. I usually have dessert, which is slider food and share it with someone. Mimi
  2. Those posts are about a year old...I wish the poster's would repost how they are doing. How are you doing? Mimi
  3. I would wait til they close on the outside. Please call your doc and get the OK before bathing unless you can keep the incisions dry with tape and plastic wrap. Mimi
  4. Welcome and good luck. Mimi
  5. AJames, my wt has gone up by 12 or 15 pounds 4 times in the 2 years. The first time was post op banding til I started getting restriction and then 3 other times when I had to get unfills for a variety of reasons. I need a small unfill and am hoping I don't gain again.....my docs don't believe in .1 or .15 unfills and I dread going in. Best wishes, Mimi
  6. I am so sorry for your bad news. I will send good thoughts your way. Mimi
  7. Yes, this is a wonderful site. I miss all of the old timers that move on and don't post anymore. Also, I am almost 2 years out and I still worry about being a failure, even though my trainer said it has been 17 weeks (a lifetime) that I have maintained my wt within 5 pounds. Know that you are not alone, and best wishes. Mimi
  8. I am happy for you that things went well.. Get well fast. Mimi
  9. I am sorry for your distress. I hope the defill makes you feel better. Mimi
  10. I am in maintenance and am on the scale every morning or every other morning to keep tight control within 3 pounds. I think I use it as a rational tool now instead of a measure of my self worth like when I was on my trip down the scale. I don't panic or get down on myself anymore like I used to, I use it as an indicator that I need to evaluate my last few days as far as colories in and expended and make the adjustments I figure I will have to make the rest of my life. Mimi
  11. Spirit, I was overfilled several times and barfed my wt down then liked it (the low wt) and work like crazy to maintain it!!!!! I have a trainer 3 times a week and still count calories. Thanks for your kind words. Mimi
  12. Dena, I am sorry you are having such an ordeal. It is wonderful you have such supportive family around you. Congratulations and best wishes. Mimi
  13. Congratulations and best wishes on your journey to a new life. Mimi
  14. Yes, Tamana, please post and let us know how you are doing. I never saw your original post or I would have posted a response. Mimi
  15. Cheese is good, crackers not so much...let me know how the crisps do!!!!! Mimi
  16. Congratulations on your new restriction and new size clothes!!!!! Watch out for the crisps, they will get cha, LOL!!!! Mimi
  17. Mary, I hope the CT shows what the problem is....fevers are a sure fire symptom of something brewing!!!! As far as putting your dear poodles picture up, I just click on the change avatar button and then browse my pictures and double click. I am a lousy teacher!!!! Good luck, Mimi
  18. I do wish you luck, but I don't understand what the problem is in switching you to a low profile port....any way you can get a second opinion? Mimi
  19. I am delighted that you are doing better!!!! Mimi
  20. Eric, I am glad you posted....and super glad your unfill worked. I am still trying to get my unfill appt and am trying to stay away from slider food. Mimi
  21. As all of the other poster's said, what a load of crap!!!!! She is failing you and I would NOT wait 2 months, even if you have to change doctors!!!! Jerk!!!!! Mimi
  22. Jen, terrific advice!!!! I want to compliment the poster on 2 years of maintenance....that is awesome!!!! And by knowing what you have done day in day out for 2 years you can discover where to cut back on calories and where you can pick up the exercise without having an overwhelming lifestyle makeover. There is a rule of thumb that says 100 calories per pound of wt for maintenance or loss so if you want to weigh 130 you could probably eat 1200-1300 cals. That should give you 1-2 pounds of loss a week, boosted by whatever exercise calorie expenditure you do. A nice way to get started exercising is to treat yourself to a few weeks with a personal trainer. I wish you all the best. Mimi
  23. I really like this thread!!!!! I have been a Nurse since 1969 and my weight kept going up up up and my joint pain did too. I also felt like a poor health care role model and decided the band was worth a try. I knew too much about bypass and no way was I going that route. Sleeve, maybe. I know what the poster means who said they didn't want to be one of those nurses who didn't want to get up off their seat to take care of the patients. Good luck to all the students and techs on that journey, too. Mimi
  24. How are you doing now, WannaB? Mimi
