1st fill questions...I'm having trouble
I so understand your fears and concerns, I have been through it several times and some practitioners can do small unfills better than others, I admit. Keep your fluid intake up and at least drink 3 protein drinks a day while you are deciding. Mimi

1st fill questions...I'm having trouble
Well, you might have to bear with it until Tuesday because of the long weekend, but it sounds like you need a small unfill. Are you getting enough fluids in? I strongly recommend you go back on a liquid only diet for at least 2 days. It is possible that throwing up so much has caused your stomach to swell which causes you to stay too tight. If you do try the 48 hours of liquids and you are still having problems, I would call as soon as they are open after the weekend. If you try the 48 hours of liquids and then try soft/mushy and see how you do and progress as tolerated. If you can't keep any liquids down for several hours you must seek help sooner. You might already be on the edge of dehydration as evidenced by your large wt loss. Are you tinkling every couple of hours? Good luck, Mimi

Is my nutritionst keeping me fat
I would consult with another nutritionist. That is a lot of calories and protein for a wt loss plan. Best wishes, Mimi

Swelling
Sounds like an excellent question to ask your surgeon!!!! Mimi

Absolutely wait til you get back!!! Best wishes, Mimi

Am I too tight or not?
LOL, bobble head indeed!!!!!! Let us know what you decide to do. Mimi

Am I too tight or not?
It sounds like a little unfill would do you good, but you also may want to wait a few days to see if there is some temporary swelling happening that is increasing your restriction. I will say that with the food amounts you listed the wt will fall off of you. Best wishes, Mimi

Have you been keeping your fat clothing?
LOL, it is not a case of excessive pride to want to wear well fitting clothes. Appropriate pride in our accomplishments is a healthy thing and helps to reinforce wanting to never go back. The lap band will help with that goal, but ultimately WE did it and can smile back at the fat deities!!! Mimi

Have you been keeping your fat clothing?
My friends were divided in advising me to keep or give away my big clothes. I chose to donate the big ones as I outgrew them...I am in a size 4 and started in a 3X and 24/26....I would have no room for my new clothes had I not purged as I went. I comfort myself that somewhere there are some happy short ppl wearing the right length jeans and slacks, LOL!!! Mimi

Really Need Some Support...and Affirmation
Too bad she didn't give equal time to all the possible horrors GB patient's face with their insides chopped up and rerouted......permanently. GB causes absorption issues while the band has restriction issues. All of the things the PA said can happen, no doubt about it. Without my band I would be back to 236 pounds and I have no regrets for choosing the band. Best wishes, Mimi

Finally 6 Weeks Post-Op!
I have never heard of that restriction of no situps!!!! Mimi

Tummy Tuck ??? About Clothing
I hate to say everyone swells differently, but it is true. I went up one size for about a month, but I am a lover of easy elastic waist clothing, LOL. I lived in a housecoat for the first couple of weeks and wore big sweat pants if I did go out. Good luck. Mimi

First Unfill...to do or not to do?
You are lucky your doc will take out small amounts....it seems like my practice can't or won't do less than 0.5cc. I am glad you are feeling better. Mimi

First 100 lbs gone!!!!
Congratulations and best wishes on your continued success. Mimi

Excited!! :-))
Welcome, Katherine. I wish you lots of luck on your journey. Mimi

Restriction, Heartburn, Nausea -- LOOSE band, WTH?
I stay as far from my doc as I can, LOL, he is NOT my favorite person. Sadly, my favorite PA left the practice and I don't know what I am going to do next. I need/want my port moved and converted to the smaller one so I am going to have to interface with him at some point. If your symptoms go away with a complete unfill that will tell a story. I will hope and pray that you don't gain wt during the unfill. I think the bodybugg is a wonderful idea. I wish there was a place they could be rented for a few weeks! Thank goodness I have stopped refluxing most of the time. I still have the intense burning in what feels like my "big" stomach and any barfing shuts my band down for 24 hours or more. Keep posting, please. Mimi

Restriction, Heartburn, Nausea -- LOOSE band, WTH?
Suzanne, I feel for you and wish I had some words of wisdom. I am glad and sad that your GB is OK, it being bad sure would have explained a lot!!!! I think it is OK to try Zoloft, as far as it is a fairly safe drug. I have not had the nausea, just the burning and fills and unfills. I am on 40mg of Nexium and can't tell any improvement. I hope you feel better soon and I thing Reglan is a dangerous drug and should only be used as a last resort. Mimi

getting banded in less that 38 hours!
Congratulations and best wishes!!! Mimi

Frustrated as hell
WOW!!!!! Well, best wishes on your banding journey. Mimi

Dr Refusal
What the heck is an Aftercare fee? That is a new one on me and another robbery....isn't there another LB doc you can turn to? Mimi
-
Frustrated as hell
Sorry for your frustration, Shelley. That $1000 admin fee is Highway robbery. Isn't there another LB surgeon near you that doesn't have that ridiculous fee or at least one not so high? Mimi

Skin
I, too, have experienced settling since I got to goal. I am pretty sure the remaining fat redistributes itself over time and that is why many plastic surgeons want ppl to wait a few months after reaching goal. Good luck, Mimi

Sweet Spot?
Congratulations, Mindi!!!! I am happy for your loss and arrival at your sweet spot. Not to rain on your parade, but you may need tiny tiny fills in the future as the band loosens because you have lost fat under it around your stomach. Best wishes, Mimi
