I am on the 14 day pre-op diet now and the shakes I am drinking are the BEST and they are lactose free! Shamrock Farms Rockin' Protein Builder with 30g Protein, 9 net carbs and 190 calories. I drink three of them a day and have broth and sugar free Jello in between along with 64 oz of Water. I feel great! I do miss chewing but I know it is temporary. I have been on the liquid diet since 4/12 and I have lost 12 pounds.

Thank you! I’m trying to focus on the positive of doing the liver shrinking for such a long time, and so far I’m okay with it. It does give me a sense of being in control….which is the exact opposite of how I would feel after indulging in junk food.< br /> I can take a huge amount of satisfaction now from a few cooked shrimp. LOL
I hadn’t even thought about the fact that with this much advance time, it does provide the opportunity to eat something if I must. In fact, this weekend I ordered these cinnamon rolls from someone doing a fundraiser for Ukraine. I did not intend to even try to eat one. However, I did let myself have one small taste, and I was good with that. THAT was an interesting thing to do. My nutritionist had talked about it in class, and I’m glad I tried it.
As far as onederland, I can’t wait to get back there. 🤗 Already I see that my 3X clothes are hanging off me. With school coming to an end, at least I can wait till September to buy new clothes.
And, if I lost 12 lbs on this pre-op diet, I’d turn cartwheels! LOL
Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Thanks for writing! 🤗

Good luck, Mariann! It is exciting to know your surgery date is getting closer! That does seem like a long time to do the pre-op diet, but on the plus side, if you get really hungry, you could actually eat something substantial as long as it is prior to two weeks from your actual surgery date. I guess it will be good practice! I lost 12 pounds during my 2 week pre-op which was awesome because it put my right back into ONEderland! lol - I hear your frustration about the office foodies. Before my VSG it was a daily battle to stay away from all of the workplace Snacks. Now when I look at the jars of candy and trays of donuts all I can think is how miserable I was after eating that stuff and how much better I feel now

It will get better! I had my gastric sleeve on 4/27. Each day I see marked improvement. Everyone is different it seems. I have seen some people go back to work after five days. There is no way I would be ready for that now. Take it easy and listen to your body. Also, Water is key!

I had surgery on 4-5. I am amazed every day how ‘normal’ I feel. I am still on 2 tbs of purée and lots of fluids. I have good energy and walk most days. I return to work this week, thank goodness because I’m so bored! I am down a Jean size. As I put winter stuff away I am listing if for sale on Posh. I will not be wearing the same size this fall. Astounding!

Great to hear everyone is doing well! I had mine Wednesday. I did have to stay in the hospital for two nights because my nausea was making it impossible for me to get in enough fluids. I am home now and sleeping a lot also. I figured my body must need extra rest, so I am doing just that.

HI there! Sounds like we have similar paths. I was banded in 2010 and lost 80+ pounds. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. I kept the weight off for more than 10 years before I started having issues with the band a couple of years ago. It was either too tight or not tight enough. Sadly, without a functioning tool, I gained quite a bit of weight. I had my Lapband removed in April 2021 with hopes to convert to the gastric sleeve a month later. Long story short, my insurance denied the conversion and it took almost a year and a couple of appeals to get the denial overturned. Fast forward to today, my gastric sleeve is approved and scheduled for 4/27. I am so looking forward to getting my tool back so that I can get back on track and live my healthiest life
That is great you have lost 85 pounds! Have you been able to maintain the loss all this time? It sounds like your surgeon is removing your band and converting to bypass all in one surgery, is that right?

Knowing some of these things could mess me up early post op, I think $15 is probably worth it. To have something that can speak for me in the event that I can’t. Perhaps I see the benefit in it more because I’ve had an event within the last 2 years where I couldn’t speak for myself at a hospital and they definitely did whatever they needed/wanted to figure it out with no consent 😬

Hellooooo!!! Day 4 if your insurance covers it please my friends go get yourself an infusion! Ask your docs and surgeon about them they are just wonderful and really put you on a pathway to success and no dehydration for you! They will pack it full of all the Vitamins you need to be successful!! I had a sip of a Premier Protein and I kept it down perfect so it’s on now! And here are my favorite flavors and things you can do with them. My favorite brand at the moment is Premier Protein I was drinking these guys even before surgery because they are tasty and filling, the chocolate Peanut Butter cup flavor is sooooo so good I mixed that with my cold brew coffee and I was obsessed the Caramel flavor with coffee tastes like a caramel macchiato! When you are all able to have coffee of course the peanut butter cup flavor alone is also very nice tasting Now I have also discovered something else I loooove chai tea and chai tea lattes but these can be super high in carbs and sugar so this is my special potion hehe. The celestial seasonings brand has a spiced tea called Bengal Spice I brew that in 6oz of Water and top it off with a vanilla premier protein and boom! Chai tea and it’s so tasty and high in protein! Now that I can keep the thicker protein drinks down I’m going to start playing with them! I hope you all have a nice day and are keeping those fluids under control sending love and hydration your way y’all! ❤️

So glad to hear your nausea has subsided! I’m mentally preparing for it. I even bought ginger essential oil to smell. I’ve used it before to help with nausea. Thank you for letting me know about IV meds. I will definitely ask for them if needed! I am on day 6 of my liquid diet. Getting closer! Take care and hope you are back to normal now- no nausea!

Nausea is a lot better today! If you are getting the sleeve nausea is a very real thing we gotta face, don’t hesitate in the hospital if you can’t keep the oral meds down ask for an IV anti nausea that helped me quite a bit. Once you get home if you still can’t keep anything down if you have any local infusion spots or even ask your doctor even something as simple as a normal saline drip will help you! Just keep trying to take baby sips those super thick and sweet Protein Drinks may not be the best thing to introduce to your stomach first I found out pretty quick! I wish you good luck!! And so happy you decided to make this choice! ❤️

It is worth overcoming any obstacles!! I failed at appeal so I changed my medical group and now my primary is in the next county over. Best 30 mile drive of my life!! I was able to see the surgeon I wanted to work with. I am a RNY revision. My surgery was 4-5-22. I am still on clear liquids. Bone Broth was a game changer, love Fond for variety of flavors! Found at Sprouts. While you wait for a date you might try a few new bari friendly recipes. And perhaps some reading on successful maintenance of the lifestyle. Create some non for ways to Celebrate milestone numbers. I wish you all the best! It is life changing!

Your time will come It took me two provider appeals and one member appeal to get my surgery approved. I just kept positive and finally, my day is almost here! I totally understand about peace of mind as a result of a clean house. I have spent the last two weeks doing the same!
The first few weeks after surgery, all I want to do is focus on learning to meal prep for my new lifestyle and getting enough water!

That's great you can have cottage cheese and yogurt! My surgeon only allows protein, water, sugar free Jello and broth, which doesn't allow for any real "chewing." I am on day three of my liquid diet. Instead of plain jello, I made Knox Blox. You can look up the recipe online. It's basically just jello but you add extra unflavored Gelatin to make the jello more like Gummy bear texture. It has really helped me because I am a texture person and I have to have something to chew! My favorite Protein Shake is the pre-made Shamrock Farms, Rockin Protein. It is pricey at some places, but I found it at Target for $1.99 per bottle and because it tastes so much better - NOT at all chalky - I do not mind paying extra! It comes in vanilla and chocolate. I love both flavors.

It is! I am on day three also! So I feel your pain. I had a hard time finding Fairlife but the Shamrock Farms Rockin Protein is great, so I am going to stick with it! Something that has helped me is keeping busy. I love painting and crafting so I got out my art box and I have been painting. I've also been riding my indoor bike and cleaning. ANYTHING to keep my mind off food! Either way, I will stick with it. I figured I haven't come this far only to cheat! We got this
