  1. I got my pre-surgery apt's scheduled. 5/10 I see my anesthesiologist, Surgeon and do a pre-surgery class. Very excited!
  2. I have been trying to eat slowly and chew but its hard to break a lifetime of bad habits. From what I've read the "stick" of getting stuck will help me remedy these habits.
  3. Lol I like the first two though the Belatines is cool as well.
  4. I am scheduled for May 21'st. It can't come soon enough! I am trying to get down to 280 by surgery. Gonna do the best I can. Are we going to create a spiffy name for our group?
  5. I missed Monday but went yesterday after work and today before work!
  6. I like David Sebastian but think I would like it even better reversed Sebastian David
  7. I would like to lose 12 lbs. Not banded yet but I will be end of May!
  8. I agree with Wendy. Even if its not happening I will feel like everyone is watching me. I don't react well under that kind of pressure my knee jerk reaction is to rebel even if its to my detriment. I want to do this and feel proud of it on my own with the support of a few trusted family and friends. People I can count on not to judge or proffer to many opinions.
  9. I told a couple friends outside of my family and they reacted with the usual surgery horror stories and stories of people who stuck to diet and exercise dropping 60lbs. The other send me a diet book. The funny thing is both of them are as heavy as I am. I really don't want to deal with it while I'm concentrating on this so I will only tell those I have to tell and the ones I'm comfortable enough to tell to "stuff it" lol.
  10. I've made it to curves Mon-Fri for the past week and a half. I need to keep the momentum going. For some reason I hit a wall with any new habit I'm trying to develop at 2 weeks. I am also trying to walk during my lunch hour
  11. Thank you!! I looked him up he has a really good record as a surgeon (not half bad looking either lol). I am so excited.
  12. My Surgeon is ROBERT ANDREW LI MD. Don't get me wrong he was a really nice guy but both times I saw him he tried to push me toward the gastric bypass. Last visit he told me realistically the most I would lose would be 40% of my weight and that there is up to a 15% chance of complications. Fortunately I had done my homework :sneaky:
  13. For the private people...How did you tell your boss you were having surgery without telling them what for and managing not to sound rude or secretive?
  14. I really hope I get to post almost the exact same thing in two months. Congratulations on starting the journey!!
  15. I AM SCHEDULED May 21'st is the date. For those wondering I started this July of 08 so its roughly 10 months. They did not make me lose the 10% because there was a backlog of people not making their goal (I was never even given a goal I skipped that apt and went straight to the surgeon) I have lost a bit and am trying to lose another 10lbs before the surgery. My Surgeon while very nice and professional seemed very pro Gastric Bypass. He tried to talk me out of the lapband 2 times. Stated realistically I would only get down to 230 with the lapband. I told him that if that is all I lose at least I felt a lot better at 230 than I do now at almost 300. So my advice is if you want lapband and you have Kaiser go in prepared with why and be ready to stick to your guns on it.
  16. YAY I am scheduled! May 21st is my date. I had the option for May 11 but I am really hoping to only take the 2 days off from work. A lot of people seem able to do it. I have a sedentary job close to home. Fortunately that is memorial day weekend so I will be able to have Monday off as well. I am so thrilled its real now!! 2 months and I'm banded. I plan on trying to balance eating my last Pre band meals with losing another 10 lbs. I would like to get down to 280 lbs. *bouncy:lol::sneaky: bouncy*
  17. I think with Kaiser they would cancel my surgery if I came back weighing more. I want to lose 10 more lbs before I go in. I do want to eat some of my favorite meals but spread them out with healthy eating and exercise. Congratulations on your date!! Tell us how everything went.
  18. I found out from my surgeon I get to be scheduled in MAY!! I don't know the date yet apparently the calendar doesn't open May until end of the week but I'm hoping it will be the beginning. SO EXCITED!!
  19. I was just thinking today how much impact as women (usually because we make the food decisions and such) our decisions and habits make on our families. Its great that your lifestyle changes made an impression on your kids. If you've started to fall back into bad habits as much for yourself as your family try to tighten things back up. The first set of good changes happened without you even knowing they would. I agree with everyone else. I really wouldn't say anything to your daughter. 14 is a tough age and its a very easy place to develop esteem issues or eating disorders not to mention this issue has driven a wedge between many a mother and daughter. Try to continue teaching by example and encourage her to be active with you!! Just my 2 cents :scared2:
  20. Hi Michele. I haven't been banded yet either. Hoping to get scheduled next week. I asked a very similar question a bit ago here is the thread. I though there were some really good answers on it! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f84/how-strong-tool-84322/
  21. Can I ask a somewhat gross question about post op lapband needs...Since you are sore from Surgery.. how do you wipe after using the restroom? I think I saw someone suggestbuying some tongs to hold the TP and extend their reach. Has anyone else felt a need to do this?
  22. I am so glad I didn't have to do that test That is a long long test!
  23. I have my apt with the Surgeon March 16 I believe I will be scheduling my surgery then. I am very excited. I would love to get this done ASAP
  24. This reminds me of a Betty Boop cartoon I saw a long time ago. I'm not counting anything out though. Keep us posted
  25. I really hope I can report the same as you guys when I get banded. I wonder why some people have such problems with the gas pains and others don't?
