  1. I am assigned to South San Francisco Kaiser. In this facility you don't usually meet with the surgeon until after you meet with another doctor (usually with the medical director) and that Doctor determines your needed weight loss. I am skipping straight to the surgeon though to help move the backlog along. The nurse I spoke to said I might be able to schedule my surgery date at this apt.
  2. I find it interesting how everyplace varies. My orientation told us that it would be Orientation Either Nutritionist or Nutrition class Apt with Medical Director to review progress and set weight goal Psych eval Educational class Surgeon Blood work Nurse phone consults They bumped me to surgeon because they have a backlog between the medical director and the surgeon with people struggling to lose the weight. I started the process in July. There have been about 3 months between apts so far. I am really hoping to schedule my surgery soon!!
  3. Thank you. I was thinking of doing a cleanse that I do every once in awhile but was not sure if that will change the results of my bloodwork.
  4. I didn't realize the Jillian Michaels game was out. I am hoping I get a bonus next week and I can get the wii fit and the Jillian Michaels game!!
  5. I'm 32 married but we have decided not to have kids. I am hoping to be banded fairly soon. Looking forward to setting the date. I live in the Bay Area California
  6. What are they looking for when they do the pre op blood work?
  7. I just found out that I got bumped up. I was wondering why I was seeing the surgeon already when I haven't even had the doctor consult but they told me that they have a hang up between the Medical Director visit and the surgeon visit so they found healthy patients and bumped them directly to the surgeon. This may be happening sooner than I thought WOOOHOO!!
  8. Now I am excited again bout of nerves has been laid to rest.. hopefully permanently Lol
  9. Awesome!! I hope I can report the same thing after surgery! Congrats on your weight loss as well that is way faster than I am even daring hope for!
  10. TY Juli - that makes a lot more sense to me. I am starting to get nervous and a bit reactionary I feel really bad that I have failed consistently to be able to control my weight. I am a volume eater as well. I rarely even snack. Its just when I eat I almost get manic about it. Like HERE is a goal I can achieve lol not sure if that makes sense. I need the band to not let me do this. I can do the exercise and will continue refining my choices but I need help keeping them smaller. Restless Monkey - Exactly!!! I am such an extremist I really struggle finding a balance. This has to be something I can do permanently. The thing that scares me as that I have said that before. I really need this to work. I am tired of being tired and sluggish. Of my knees hurting and the highlight of my day being when I can sit down or sleep. The band needs to be the solution I can truly live with long term.
  11. Thank you. I will make healthy choices and eat right. I will not eat around the band. I just worry, sometimes people try to really manage your expectations so you wont be disappointed. I don't expect a miracle but I don't want to come out the other side with nothing different. I obviously need this help and I admit as I get closer to setting a surgery date I'm getting a little more nervous. Not doubting I want this just afraid that like everything else I have tried weight wise I will fail at this to. I know my will power is lacking.. I need something to help it along.
  12. I am well aware that losing weight with the Band will require self discipline forgive me if my original post did not make that sufficiently clear. Like most who are overweight I have gotten my will power together and lost weight. Dieted and excersized for 6 months to a year at a time losing weight. Always life happens or my will power fails. If the band is not a tool to give the extra needed in those times what else is it for. Why bother getting it all if all I need is a good plan and strong will??
  13. Ok I have been reading this forum for a couple years now and am in the process of getting my band. I know the band is a tool and if you choose you can eat around it by eating ice cream etc... HOW strong a tool is it? I mean I obviously struggle with knowing when to stop eating. Is the band going to "discipline" me enough to help me not overeat if I stay away from the high calorie liquid foods that slip right through?
  14. I have been thinking about getting this and I noticed they are coming out with at least one new workout game with Jillian Michaels. I think it might be a great buy especially if they keep providing new activities.
  15. It goes by faster than you think though I was getting really impatient for my next one. IT was almost 4 months from my nutritionist visit. Strangly enough I am scheduled to see the surgeon. I thought I saw the medical director first to discuss how much weight I need to lose and stuff?? Anyone else have Dr Robert Li as their surgeon?
  16. I am very curious about the Greek Yogurt I will have to check out our Walmart to see if they carry it. Is it usually with the other Yogurt?
  17. How much do fills cost with Dr. McKeen? I am curious about how much I can expect to spend should I lose my insurance in the future?
  18. These are some great ideas thank you!! Anyone else have any tips?
  19. :smile2::thumbup:
  20. I am running into a challenge with lunch. I am currently working A LOT.. I get home pretty late to collapse and do it all again the next day. I am managing Breakfast and crockpots for dinner but I just don't have the energy to make my lunch every night. What are some good ideas of things I can make on the weekend to throw in my lunch bag for the week? I have been thinking of quiche maybe...any other ideas.
  21. GB seems to drastic to me. I don't want to spend the rest my life worrying about malabsorption or dumping.

  23. Even if you’re not getting a fill you should start looking for a Doctor you trust. That way if something happens or if you get ready for a fill, you have rapport with your treating physician.
  24. First.. Where are you. The Kaiser program appears to be vastly different from Northern to Southern California. I live in Northern Cali and am going through the steps for Lapband with Kaiser I have a BMI of 41. I have read here that Southern Ca requires a BMI of 50+ to be approved but they to offer the surgery. Here are a couple links to Kaiser threads http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f18/kaiser-permanente-insurance-66458/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f11/kaiser-fremont-78794/ http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f8/kaiser-southern-california-74212/
