  2. I was going to update the whole matrix but I noticed the last few versions are not updated with information from other versions so I am a bit confused. Anyhow here is my update. I am on a cleanse right now so a lot of this is most likely water weight. I will be curious to see where I am once I start eating normally again. 3. I am in the works of getting banded but I am not comfortable with telling people. Most just don't understand. Skinny people think its just an easy way out cheating per se and a lot of heavy people take it as a personal criticism and start talking about defacing your body. (at least that is my experience) Of course not everyone feels that way and a lot of it is a matter of education. The thing is I don't have the time or energy to educate everyone. I have made a big decision after doing copious amounts of research and talking to people who have made the same decision its still daunting and I don't have the emotional energy to put up with everyone negative opinions. Bottom line is I am obese... I have tried dieting for 10 years and I just keep gaining. I need help. The lapband hopefully is the tool I need to tip the balance. Umm anyway in answer I have only told 3 people. My husband, Mother and Sister. After educating them they are being supportive.
  4. I voted as well!! Looks like a done deal lol
  5. See I can live with smaller portions. I just need the help to know when to stop. I don't even mind exercising though sometimes I work so much I just don't have time for it. I am encouraged that in moderation I can still eat a little of the foods I love perhaps every once in awhile.
  6. Thank you! Do you still have that visceral longing for those foods you aren't supposed to eat?

Different forms of discipline work for different children and discipline is necessary to help children learn limits and repercussions. For my sister a spanking was an extremely effective deterrent. For me it was grounding me to my room with no books. As long as the child was given proper warning, then is given to understand why they are being punished and the spanking is not excessive then I feel spanking is entirely appropriate.
  8. I have been starting to struggle with fears over the band. Not that it wont work but that it will work the way its supposed to. Meaning it will limit what I can eat. I am a little surprised at these fears as I am committed to weight loss. Honestly though I LOVE to eat. Its something I look forward to. Sometimes something I obsess about I admit it. I am doing a cleanse right now. I am not hungry but I keep imagining the things I wish I was eating the sensation of chewing the taste. I tell myself once I am done with the cleanse I will have this one meal that I love at a local Breakfast joint. Then I remember that once I have my band I probably wont be able to eat it or others of my favorites (I LOOOOVE Pasta and from what I understand it should be stricken forever from the diet). Anyhow I was hoping others could share if they felt the same way and how life after banding worked with their food addictions. PS. Please don't blast me for not being committed to this I know its a tool and I have to be in the right place to make a decision to make this work just working through my fears and concerns. __________________

I love Curves. As has been mention they have these new machines that track your form and effort and kind of egg you on to improve. I like the monthly weigh in and Body measurements it keeps you mindful. I find the environment encouraging and the workout efficient. If you have the option see if there is one in your area with the stretching machine. I Looooooove the stretching machine!!
  12. When people are talking about beers from England Does New Castle ale count? That and Guinness are my favorites so as long as I only have one occasionally are they both non carbonated?
  13. O.O NO beer? I didn't realize that. I knew we had to do alcohol in extreme moderation but no beer at all that will be tough.
  14. I haven't been able to cross my legs in so long. When wearing a dress or skirt I usually bring a scarf to tuck under my knees to hold them together lol
  15. You might want to change your PCP... I'm Kaiser Nor Cal and I just told my nurse practitioner that i was interested in the lap band she asked about diet and exercise i answered and she set me up immediately for the blood work and sleep apnea test. I already had PCOS so got referred immediately. My BMI has hovered around 40 sometimes dipping below but she did not give me any trouble at all... Additionally at least up here we don't have to do a 50 week class there are some hoops to traverse and you are looking at a fairly lengthy process but it looks like I should be able to move forward with this hopefully by end of year.
  16. Getting tested for sleep Apnea is important the instructor said that anyone with a neck larger than 17 inches almost positively has sleep apnea. I had my test done and have been on CPAP for a couple weeks now and i can honestly say its been such a wonderful thing. I was having events 30 times an hour. sleeping better has improved my mood (depression has lifted), Given me more energy, I don't struggle to stay awake while driving, dont have a headache when I wake up or feel that every step is an act of supreme will power. If your insurance covers it I highly recommend getting checked for it as you may not even know you are suffering from it.
  17. I was told in the kaiser seminar that if you have sleep Apnea and its not being treated that getting you off the breathing machine used during surgery can be complicated. The instructor said that your lungs are so tired they clamp town on the tube and wont release and you have to be in ICU until they can get it out. Additionally it is a condition that can be caused by obesity so its something up there with Blood Pressure, Diabetes etc that can be treated by losing weight.
  18. Yay TY now I feel like I have a goal and support to reach it
  19. Can I join? I haven't had surgery yet but am trying to lose my 10% I need to do a weigh in to get my accurate weight but I can start with the following Name____Minxz Start Weight____300 lbs CurrentWeight___300 lbs Goal______280 lbs Lbs lost___0 lbs
  20. I can see how the lap band/weight loss could be a disruption in a marriage. To make this work you have to be focused on it and if your mate does not support or show interest in the process you could grow apart from each other instead of growing together. Being married is work I am still new at it (4 years) but I find that you have to make a conscious effort to not allow life's concerns to drive you apart so that you wake up one day with a stranger. If that happened I could see how the attention you'd get as thinner more attractive person could lead you to straying. I think BeGails post is excellent!! Really love the line below that I quoted
  21. I like to make a lentil stew that is very easy Bag of lentils 2 bullion cubes 2-4 cubed chicken breast (depending on how meaty you want it) Large can of stewed Tomatoes spice to taste with Cumin and Salt Put in slow cooker add Water to cover Ingredients Cook on low for 4-6 hours I serve over rice
  22. I went to the initial seminar and left with some goals. I want to chew each bite 30 times, not drink any liquids with my meal, Drink 64oz of Water every day, No snacking and start cutting down portion size. I have not managed to do this 100% successfully. I have not given up but I am a little discouraged. I am supposed to lose 20lbs before surgery and currently am frightened to step on the scale. To top it all off I had to pick up a second job so my 3xs a week at curves has had to be put on hold. How did others get the boost to get going? The whole reason I have opted for the lapband is because I can't lose weight by myself I have tried over and over. I used to be able to drop 20+lbs on diets but the past few years I haven't even been able to do that. Is there a thread to support those of us that are pre-surgery trying to lose the 10%?
  23. How involved was he in your process? Is it possible he go with you to a Dr's appointment where the Doctor can reassure him that you are getting the nutrition you need to fuel your body? I am concerned about my husband I am not banded yet and he is a little Leary of the process. I have been trying to encourage him to check out this board so he will be as aware as I am of what this process means. I am not a mother but I do know as the daughter of a compulsive dieter that a parents attitude toward food will impact a child's. It has to be so hard as you are trying to relearn a healthy attitude not to give a child a bad impression. At the same time...you were not healthy before the surgery and that to is learned. So my thoughts are similar to what I've read. You have to do what is healthy for yourself and children learn by example.
  24. I know he is real I surfed his website and was not impressed. He obviously rabidly favors the Gastric Bypass. I have no problem with those who choose the gastric bypass I have friends for whom it worked wonders. I have done a lot of research and listened to a lot of opinions. In the end everyone who has the surgery has to own that choice weather it be LB or GB. There is no 100% success rate on anything. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience but you are using scare tactics. Surely you must have seen the hundreds of people on this site who feel that the LB tool gave them the edge they needed to change their lives for the better.
  25. But there are sad faces in the banding column oh my Choose Your Weight Loss Surgery *rollseyes* Anyone can make a video and post it to youtube....
