What are they looking for when they do the pre op blood work?

Well for me they were looking at white blood cell count and anemia...plus any other vitamin deficiencies. And they check my thyroid levels.

Best to ask your surgeon what they check for. They took 5 vials from me; they checked all kinds of things. Liver thyroid kidneys cholesterol triglycerides blood sugar WBC, RBC, platelets, etc etc etc.

And if you're a smoker, they are probably going to check for nicotine - if your dr. is a stickler like mine about quitting. I got my date pushed because I didnt quit when I said I was going to. I'm scheduled for Jan. 22nd now and havent had a cigarette since Dec. 5th appointment when they told me they were changing my surgery date. It was originally Jan 5th.

Thank you. I was thinking of doing a cleanse that I do every once in awhile but was not sure if that will change the results of my bloodwork.
